Seismologists have determined that the earthquake in Washington,D.C. was not caused by a fault line, but by our Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves.
Earthquake:
1. A series of vibrations induced in the earth's crust by the abrupt rupture and rebound of rocks in which elastic strain has been slowly accumulating.
2. Something that is severely disruptive; upheaval. What do YOU think?
Recently I received the book "Go for No: YES is the Destination - NO is how you Get There" by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz. The book was from my corporate office as the "Book of the Month" and I placed it on the "stack" of books I plan to read. Since I read one or two books per week, I am constantly taking from and adding to the "stack". How timely that this book was the next in the infamous "stack" to read when I was sleepless at 3:00 A.M.

va expert: The Home Price Index is Just Like Me - IT'S BIGGEST FLAW IS ITS AGE!
- 07/23/11 05:48 AM
The government says, "A strong spring season helped home values recover". And according to the Federal Home Finance Agency's Home Price Index, home prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.4 percent from April to May. It's actually the HPI's second straight increase, and puts the monthly index at its highest point since January 2011. Sounds like great news, right? Home sellers everywhere may be jumping up and down and loving news such as "rising home prices". BUT (there's always a "but") it's important to remember that the Home Price Index has a several built-in flaws -- the biggest of which its age. I (4 comments)
va expert: Seasons of Drought, Floods and Green Pastures - Which Season Are You In?
- 07/10/11 07:40 AM
It's dry in our corner of the world and my husband (affectionately referred to as the "Farmer") is concerned. Everywhere I go, people are talking about the drought. "I have never seen it this dry before...." old-timers are saying. The Farmer's friends and family are all concerned about their cattle. They need the rain for the pastures to grow the hay to feed the cattle. And the rain hasn't come. It is season of drought.
But in other parts of the country, there are the floods. You turn on the news and there are cities (1 comments)
Friday morning, at 8:30 AM ET, the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its June Non-Farm Payrolls report. If you or your client is currently shopping for a mortgage, or maybe even floating a mortgage interest rate, be prepared! Mortgage rates can change following the monthly report's release. Often, by a lot!!! More commonly called "the jobs report", Non-Farm Payrolls reports on the U.S. workforce by sector, summarizing its findings in terms of total workforce size, and as a national Unemployment Rate. Jobs are considered a keystone in the continuing U.S. economic recovery.
On this day in 1954, Elvis Presley had his first commercial recording session in Memphis, Tennessee, where he recorded "That's All Right, Mama". Here's some thoughts about Elvis that we could implement into our lives and businesses: #1 (1 comments)

The "Declaration of Independence" was to be a statement explaining this decision to seek independence from Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson was the principal author, and the Declaration was approved and signed on July 4, 1776. A nation was born!
Coincidentally, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the only signers of the Declaration of Independence later to serve as Presidents of the United States, died on the same (5 comments)
