tampa real estate: Governor vetoes 2 real estate bills, signs 2: Condo Relief & Chinese Drywall - 06/02/10 06:09 PM
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - June 2, 2010 - Out of the blue. That's how Florida Realtors lobbyists describe their reaction to Governor Crist's veto yesterday of HB 545, a Realtor-supported measure that would have repealed an onerous disclosure for coastal property owners."We had not heard from one group or individual who was opposed to HB 545, so we are quite surprised the governor would veto the bill and expose hundreds of thousands of property owners to safety issues and higher premiums, and increase legal liability and litigation for sellers and real estate practitioners," says John Sebree, vice president of public policy for

tampa real estate: Tenant Served with a Foreclosure Notice? New Tenant Rights! - 08/22/09 11:28 AM
I cannot tell you how many times I hear from tenants who call me looking for a new home because they are tired of renting and I hear this story, "I was renting a home and got served with a foreclosure notice! Now what? Do I have to move? Can I stop paying rent if the landlord isn't paying the mortgage?" First and foremost, don't stop paying your rent if you are in a lease, as this could backfire on you and cause a failure to pay rent notice to hit, and damage your credit, causing you to be unable to purchase

tampa real estate: Evidence of a Real Estate Market Turn Around: Its time to Buy or you may miss the Boat! - 12/16/08 09:52 AM
According to this video, the stats for November 2008 say that we are seeing a slow return of the real estate market. For buyers and investors who've been trying to time the market, now is the time to buy! Increase in home sales is mainly due to improving affordability conditions. Affordability index is up 17%. Home Sales are up 1.4% from last year despite disruptions in the credit markets. Mortgage rates remain low at around 6% and are expected to rise to 6.5% by the end of 2008 and hold at that level for most of 2009. Inventory remains high at

tampa real estate: Hope for Homeowners Act of 2008 - 08/05/08 03:44 PM
After talking to our office's mortgage professional, it is not totally clear yet whether most lenders will participate in this program or not. The example of how this might work, as I was told, would be if a homeowner had an ARM loan at $250K, and the payments recently went up and they were struggling, they might be able to refinance into a loan for 90% of the homes value today, so if the home is only worth $200K today, they could refi at $180K, and the balance of the loan is forgiven. That is IF the lender decides to allow

Important news for homeowners about taxes! Read this - just released by the FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORSĀ® "Homeowners take first-ever tax deduction for mortgage insurance WASHINGTON - March 27, 2008 - Many qualified taxpayers are preparing to claim their first-ever tax deduction for mortgage insurance premiums on home loans that closed in 2007. tampa real estate: Clinton Striving For Upper Hand On Mortgage Crisis - 03/25/08 07:55 AM
As Tampa Realtors, we know that the number of Tampa short sales and foreclosures has skyrocketed over the last few years. Hillary Clinton has released a plan to help the economy and get control over the mortgage crisis. The plan was submitted to the President and Ms. Clinton is calling for something to be done now, not if or when she gets into office. McCain is expected to similarly release a plan today focusing on the economy, a topic which has has not pushed much during his campaign. President Bush is now under fire to do something - what do you

tampa real estate: Buyers & Sellers: Can Your REALTORĀ® do this? - 03/24/08 03:10 PM
Maybe the question shouldn't be CAN your REALTOR® do this, but WILL they? If you're selling real estate in the Tampa Bay area, you need to choose a REALTOR® who is using all the tools they have at their disposal, to get your listing sold! I say this because many may not be. It's important to choose a REALTOR® who understands real estate technology and will be able to obtain the highest exposure of your home to potential buyers. In the Tampa area MLS, REALTORS® have the ability to setup a buyers' criteria, so that buyer receives EVERY listing from our MLS,

tampa real estate: Amendment 1 Grey Areas & Lawsuits - What's Next for Florida Taxpayers? - 02/18/08 03:00 PM
Check out these articles in today's St. Petersburg Times about Amendment 1, and also one from the Orlando Sentinel concerning the potential repeal of Amendment 1. What does this mean for homebuyers? I don't know about all of you, but I'm more confused than ever! Personally I did not vote for Amendment 1 because of some of the unfair advantages it created and issues it did not address but our local Realtor board pushed everyone to say yes, in hopes that it would rejuvenate the real estate market. I don't think it will and was hoping people would vote no until they
