It's Official...the Government Wants out of Housing - 02/28/12 01:29 PM
In an effort to stimulate our economy and to get more housing starts, the Federal Housing Administration is following through with its pledge to increase the upfront AND annual mortgage insurance premiums....HOW THRILLING FOR US WHO WORK IN REAL ESTATE!!!! Unveiled late Monday, the increases are designed to strengthen FHA's capital position and "have minimal impact on the market and borrowers," according to FHA acting commissioner Carol Galante. She noted that FHA streamline refinances are exempt from these premium hikes. Starting April 1, FHA will hike its upfront premium by 75 basis points to 175 bp on all single-family loans, including

Sometimes You Just Need to UNSUBSCRIBE From a Blog!!!! - 02/24/12 02:14 PM
So......I was thinking about subscriptions. I'm blessed. I have a lot of them, but not as many as a lot of other folks, but I'm please. I was looking at some superstars and I see that Jason Crouch has 1,900+ subscribers. Todd Clark has well over 800 subscribers. Lenn Harley has over 1,500. I'm just a peon at 400. For me, though, I've come to the conclusion that There is a correlation between my income and the number of subscribers that I have. The reason that this is important to me is this....I have had 98 referrals from Active Rain. As I'm able

Woooosh.....I'm freaking with the Speed of the New Active Rain - 02/23/12 07:38 AM
OK....freakin me out a bit. Just logged on to Active Rain and it popped up almost as fast as a Google Search. I had just posted my comment on Missy's featured post (does she even need a last name?). As soon as I hit click I was back at the top of the page. I had to scroll down to the bottom to see if it was another blasted error or what. I called paramedics and asked for an oxygen tank because my comment was there! I then went nuts starting to comment elsewhere. I wrote a few draft posts and

Door County Vacation - Wordless Wednesday - 02/22/12 12:54 PM
Great summer retro shot.....My Oldest Boy, Brett, was on Grandpa's boat this summer. We went to Door County and had a blast! It was so much fun. Here he "parked the boat" (can you do that?) in the middle of Lake Michigan and turned off the engine and let all the kids bail! Brett had a blast. It was a lot of fun!

Fat Tuesday and You - 02/21/12 07:47 AM
So...I'm sitting behind a desk this very moment feeling very FAT! Of course, I'll feel much better in a couple of hours when I go for my workout and my 5 mile run, but as of this moment, I'm thinking that Fat Tuesday should be a bit low key. In any event, for us, we're grilling. It's snowing right now, but we're doing some shishkabob on the grill to celebrate just prior to lent. I know that some people lose their brains on Fat Tuesday down at Mardi Gras, but I gotta believe that's just one more excuse for some to

Seriously.....I Think That I'm Back in the Game Here - 02/20/12 06:53 PM
So...I've been very remiss at posting on Active Rain for the last 3 weeks. There are two primary reasons. First, we've been growing by leaps and bounds, and I'm adhering to the use of "On Time." As a result, I'm hiring a second assistant and I really grow and try to gain some serious market share! Secondly, I have been going on Active Rain daily, but during it's upgrade period, I've been locked out and received about every error message under the sun. I thought that Active Rain was favoring others because I'm watching others comment and I can't even get

A Featured Post can be great for your Bottom Line Income!!!! - 02/16/12 03:23 PM
I've always cherished getting a featured post, but it's never been a driving force for me. When I got one, though, I'd enjoy that gold star. Nice feeling, but again....it's never been the what makes me write. As of today, February, 16th, 2012, I just recevied my 98th referral since joining the Rain. Nothing for a bit, but good stuff in the last 24 hours as I received 2 referrals since last evening from the Rain. I'm 2 from 100, but hey, that's another post altogether!!!! Over the weekend, I was thinking about the value of featured posts and thought that there

"ON TIME" and I'm not Talking About Being On Time - 02/15/12 09:51 PM
I just posted a blog over the weekend titled...YOUR Gut Will Move YOUR BUTT!. In that post I referenced the concept of "On Time". Since that post a number of people commented, but I was surprised to have a number of people reach out to me to discuss how I, in particular, use On Time. So...without further adieu..... ON TIME is a concept where you work on your business....not in it. Rules for effective on time? What you are going to work on must be pre-established. In other words, you can't allocate time to work on your business without knowing what,

Speechless Sundays - Rock & Roll Family - 02/12/12 06:54 PM
So the gift that two of my 5 kids wanted this Christmas was a guitar. I got Jake and Claire a guitar and we had the best of times for a bit. They loved the theory of rock & rolling. In any event, 45+ days later, it's changed in that it's just a bit of work. Of course, they have their meathead father, teaching them how to play. However, now they see a bit of reward for their hard work....and here's a bit of fun....during a lax moment.

YOUR Gut Will Move YOUR BUTT! - 02/12/12 12:43 PM
So we're coming into Mid - February. It just blows me away that over 5% of the year is already under the belt. On the good side, we still have over 90% of the year in front of us. But, if we're not careful, we will blink and the year will be gone. Definition of INSANITY? Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results!!!! No Way! Not in 2012. The problem is that most people say "I'm going to make more money in 2012." I say how. They say "I"m going to work harder. I'm going to work

Friday Night Tunes - MJ, Billie Jean and the First Moonwalk Ever - 02/11/12 12:13 AM
This was at the 25th anniversary of Motown Records. Billie Jean and Michael Jackson. Kinda funny...my mom asked me if he was the "Elvis" of my time and I replied absolutely. He had the professionalism, charisma and the engergy, but he blew the audience away at the three minute and thirty second mark, it's the time that the Moonwalk was invented. Pretty Darn Awesome..... Great Friday Night Tune

Speechless Sundays - I finally have a Teenager....And life...will never be the same! - 02/05/12 12:03 AM
Kinda wierd having a teenager. I'm writing this post as 4 boys spend the night for the birthday of my eldest, Brett. You see he was born on ground hog day, but, of course, we're celebrating it this evening. Here he is with his brother, Jake, after Jake gave him his birthday present. The obnoxiousness is coming out, but by the crossed eyes of Jake, I can tell that he loves the adulation given to him by the older brother who usually beats on him. It's gonna be a long life....SIGH!!!!!

Friday Night Tunes - Cutting Edge Retro - Annie Lennox & Dave Stewart...remember the group? - 02/03/12 11:49 PM
This was so cutting edge. I remember being a camp counselor working in the Rockies when this came out. The beat, the ryhthm and the melody. Nothing short of spectacular. Very avante garde and cutting edge at the time. And Annie had such a unique voice. It's a great Friday Night Flashback....

What Every Buyer Needs to Know in 2012 - 02/03/12 11:39 PM
OK....it's officially under way!! 2012 is not just a number for realtors and lenders, but it's a huge opportunity for consumers. But there are so many consumers who are unprepared or who just don't know where to start. BUYERS...here's what you need to know: Before you do anything, meet with a licensed loan officer. Yes, that person needs to be licensed. Check out an earlier post Let's work with someone who doesn't have a license......NOT!!!!!!. Before you even meet with the individual, ask if they're licensed. Believe it or not the Fed has said that some folks can lend you hundreds
