ar: Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder!!!! - 02/02/09 12:32 PM
Being the Active Rain addict that I am, I really have grown fond of the day in and day out contacts and communications with fellow Active Rainers and all the members of Joe Q. Public.   I have posted emphatically about the business awesomeoness (love that word - - - kinda like GI-NORMOUS) of what you can actually do FOR YOUR BUSINESS while playing in the rain.
Today however, it's all about comraderie, or shall I say, missed comraderie.  Last week I was on the road recruiting and visiting all of my branches in Wisconsin for four days.  I love leaving home … (13 comments)

ar: The Dirty Dozen.....12th transaction in the Rain!!!!! - 09/12/08 05:17 AM
Just this past week I had a referral from one of my associates and friends in the Rain.  Mr. Jeff Belonger!  Mortgage Guru Extraodinaire!!!!  The FHA-meister!!!  Mortgage Knowledge at its BEST!!!! (Jeff Belonger) I've now been dancing in the rain for over a year.  I called him up this past week to just BS with him.  I have always enjoyed him and he has a sarcastic element of him that aligns perfectly with my quick wit and sharp tongue.  I'm grateful to Sir Jeffrey....
It's amazing the people that you meet while swimming in the Rain.  I now feel that in … (37 comments)

ar: Active Rain's been Active for Me! Just got my 11th deal last night! - 08/01/08 12:12 AM
Your personality.  Your consistency.  Your topics.  YOUR ETHICS.  These are all important factors in getting you out there in the community.  I'm not really sure why I've had a lot of success on AR.  I'd like to believe that the most predominant factors are my education, consistency and ethics.  While communicating to the world, I have been able to get some appropriate exposure and actually take and close deals all through AR.
Last night I recieved my 11th deal since joining AR.  Last week I closed my 10th.  If I were to quantify the revenue, I'd say that it's over 30K … (89 comments)

ar: No More "ENTER THE TEXT BELOW' - 07/30/08 02:03 AM
Not too often I comment on a deminimus item here.  However when commenting on some blogs today, for the first time I realized that members do not have to type in the word below.  Or type in the name of the fruit below.  It's awesome....it appearse that once you're signed in...YOU'RE IN.  No more "you put the incorrect text graphics below."
Some other AR changes appear as well.  Localism is a feature.  I still don't understand all of the AR improvements, but can I say....THANK YOU VERY MUCH.  I love what I see so far.

ar: The Active Rain Survival Kit!!!!!!!!!! - 07/22/08 03:29 AM
I've been here for 1.5 years.  I love it.  I thought I'd share my few pearls of wisdom that'll help you learn quicker than I learned.  This past weekend, I asked an fairly straightforward question that evolved into a sub bloggin post of it's own.  Members started to get cross against each other before finally getting everything past them and moving forward today.  So....in hindsight, I was thinking that there are some AR safety tips (Image from www.bellaonline.com/articles/art42143.asp)

First....communication should be two way.....  One way communication tends to get lost or taken the wrong way.  One of the nice tips … (20 comments)

ar: Quitters Never Win - - - Winners Never Quit - 07/15/08 04:37 PM
My buddy who works with me, worked with me for a number of years when we were all together at Wells Fargo.  Wells Fargo, is a company that keeps chugging forward.  They morphed from Norwest to Wells and appear to be stronger than ever before.  Countrywide blew up.  I speak with many of their people often.  One of my most profitable branches are from a group of CW people who bolted the big green before they became B of A.  Now the B of A people are talking to me.  There's excitement and trepidation as to the future of CW...B of … (10 comments)

ar: 300th post - 07/05/08 03:11 PM
Too cool....1.5 years on AR and now I've hit my 300th post.  Wish I had something profound to say, but after 300 posts, I'm really lax on any cogent and tangible new thoughts.  I could say that I have some great friends and that my life is so great b/c of AR.  Or I could say that I've gotten a lot of deals since joining AR (over 10).   But I'm not going to praise AR or any of the friends that have been created on AR.  Nope...not once.....just the fact that I've now posted my 300th post.  Now off to my … (12 comments)

ar: Raining Cash on AR!!!! - 06/10/08 04:10 AM
Wow...2 deals in 2 weeks?  This is insane.  First housing starts are up 6.3% this month, then I come into the office and I get  a message that went something like this...
HI, THIS IS JOE BLOW, AND I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT GETTING A LOAN, CALL ME AT _____.  I call they guy and he said "I SAW YOUR BLOG AND DECIDED THAT I NEED TO TO BUSINESS WITH YOU.  I'M FAXING MY CONTRACT AND FINANCING DOCUMENTS OVER TO YOU NOW....."
This is probably the tenth transaction that has come off of this site.  The guy knew so … (39 comments)

ar: AR creates PROFITABLE relationships too!!!! - 05/20/08 01:19 AM
In my first year on AR it's bee a blast. I have created many relationships. I have people with whom I grown quite fond of. My favorites being in no particular order:
Ryan is the fun guy that is living in the wrong area.  He needs to be hanging with me, having a brew out here in the midwest.  Packers still rule over the Seahawks any day!
There are a myriad of others, but this is still a sampling.  I communicate with some daily and other weekly.  Others I just correspond with as the time allows.  I've learned a lot, but love … (19 comments)

ar: 100,000 Points in under a year! 3rd in Illinois to Achieve this - 04/03/08 10:10 AM
Well, I finally hit it.
I was going to make this a spectacular post and reminisce about how great it is to hit 100,000 points in just under 9 months.
I was going to talk about all of the great friendships as well as some young and growing relations that I've made on AR, Ginger's Marin County Real Estate Blog , Abe Loper, Tom 's Blog, (Tom Ninness), Rich Sweum's Blog, Ryan Martin's Real Estate Blog, Mortgage Knowledge at its BEST!!!! (Jeff Belonger).
I was going to talk about all that I've learned or how great I am, how modest I am and … (18 comments)

ar: Want to Score Points on Active Rain - - - Follow the Rules - 03/20/08 03:35 PM
I love writing.  I recieved a degree in English and Literature and Communications when I was in College.  This translates to great things in AR as well.  I get to serve my writing fetish by trying to post something of value.  Whether it valuable to me or others is for the reader to decide.  There are a lot of reasons why people blog on AR.
1)  Competition
     2)  Fun - feeding the soul
          3)  Get to meet a lot of great people
                4)  Get lots of great exposure
                     5)  Develop new business
Of course I do this for all of the reasons, … (31 comments)

ar: What's wrong with being #3 or do I hire a hit man? - 03/11/08 01:50 AM
AR people say that they belong for the fun.  That it's not about the points.  It's not about the rankings.  I say that's a bunch of BS.  It's about relationships, fun, the love of writing, the competition and the points.  I think that it's all of it.  I was a literature and communications major in college and love writing.  I love sports...therefore, I love comepetition.  I love it all.  I joined AR last May and wanted to be #1 in my city, then my county.  That was easy.  It'd be harder now b/c the membership has skyrocketed so.  But I did … (30 comments)

ar: John Stossel - - we need you here!!! GIVE ME A BREAK! - 03/06/08 11:06 PM

I spend two days last week getting my continuing education (C.E.).  During the 16 hours of CE, there was a section on appraisals.  Now I know that appraising is a contributing factor to this whole subprime and lending fallout....but it's not the predominant reason...just a CONTRIBUTING factor.
Having said that I found out that WAMU is being sued under a class action because of placing undo influence on their appraisers.
What's listed below are the code of ethics for real estate and appraisals, but what make this so amazing is the actual rules.  The instructor, who by the way was awesome, gave us these rules.  Specifically the rules … (8 comments)

ar: Variables of AR Blogging Success - 02/23/08 02:38 AM
OK....so here it is.  I've written over 200 blogs on AR.  Some I've just whipped up as a free association thought and I've gotten over 40 comments.  I've also put a lot of thought and research into a certain post and got a big zero as far as comments.
I was an English major and YES I DO LOVE TO WRITE, but unlike a lot of people on AR who say that it's not about other things, it kinda is.  I love writing, I love competition (so I really do like points - but my happiness isn't tied to them), and … (9 comments)

ar: Gross.....a snag in the A.R. Wheel - 01/27/08 02:25 PM
I've got it...it's been going great.  I've been cranking away on AR all year making AR a part of my daily disciplines.  Friday, I was hopping on AR to catch up with comments and post, but my motherboard crashed.  For the non computer geeks like me who don't know what the heck a motherboard, I just found out a while back when it crashed a few months ago....THEN FOR THE SECOND TIME.  Basically, it meant in my case that the computer won't power up.  So....bottom line I was shut out.  I called Dell and they said my warranty went out after September.  GROSS!!!  Sure, I have other computers, … (5 comments)

ar: Half way to 100000- - - - 49,999 points....A personal milestone - 10/06/07 02:46 PM
I think that it's only fitting that I write a nice long post about how I got here and what this all means to me.  I'm not going to because of 2 reasons:
1)  I'm on vacation....need I say anything more?
2)  I'm only 1/2 of the way to 100,000
I've had a lot of fun, but today I'll take a rest......I've been going strong.  But I have familyI'm on vacation and I need to get back to my R & R until I start my aquest for the next 50....YAHOO!!!!

ar: Favorite Writers....Favorite Bloggers - 09/30/07 04:29 PM
Hey Active Rainer's....who is your favorite person to read and why?  I have subscribed to a select few people to read.  Here are my criteria....
1)  Good balance between personal and business...in other words not shoving crap down my throat...
2)  Don't shove crap down my throat!
3)  Good personality....I'm so weird that I only bond with people who are a little left of center
4)  When you talk in the industry SAY SOMETHING RELEVANT.  I'm all for fun, but when it comes to blogging on AR....and the topic is within the industry.....by all means use the IQ that you've been given.

Having said all … (5 comments)

ar: How do you become INACTIVE on "Active" Rain???? - 09/27/07 02:57 PM
Pretty simple, pretty straightforward?  Why do I ask?  There are people that I've seen within my county that now show as "profile is no longer active".  So I got to a wondering....what is the trigger that makes you inactiver?  Is there a length of time that you don't post or comment that a trigger is automatically done?  Are you contacted by AR and notified that "we haven't seen you active...are you?"
The deeper reason for asking is that I often times travel.  yes I have access to the internet, but sometimes time just doesn't permit.  I'm sure I'm safe if I'm off … (12 comments)

ar: 100th POST....Different than 40,000 Points - 09/17/07 04:34 PM
Just last week I wrote 40,000 Points - - Where's my medal?.  I was sooooooo pleased.  Actually it's been a lot of fun and a lot of hard work, but there were and are a million benefits.  Just tdoay when I was writing....I realized that this is my 100th post.  Yeah....gross, where has the time gone?
It's been a lot of fun, but a ton of hard work.  I wonder who had written the most "real" posts out there.  I don't mean posts for points so to speak, but posts to write....  I know that points come with the territory and I … (13 comments)

ar: 40,000 Points - - Where's my medal? - 09/12/07 03:55 PM
Wow...what a ride....I joined in June and in just a few short months, it feels like I've written 1.3 million comments. . . 600,000 blogs and have read about 10,000,000 blogs, comments and posts.  Let me just say this....I've, for the most part, had fun getting there.  Maybe 40,000 is not a great as 50,000, but it's the first milestone that I feel is making me feel just awesome.  I've met a lot of great people, AND I'VE RECEIVED 6 TRANSACTIONS since I joined.
I think that the thing that makes me most excited is the fact that I have really … (12 comments)
