christianity: My Scripture & Good Thought for the Week - 05/16/11 04:51 PM
As part of my plan to better myself, I try to be disciplined in my bible reading.  Today....it was Luke, Chapter 6.  Here's the quote for the week...
20Looking at his disciples, he said:    "Blessed are you who are poor,       for yours is the kingdom of God.  21Blessed are you who hunger now,       for you will be satisfied.    Blessed are you who weep now,       for you will laugh.  22Blessed are you when men hate you,       when they exclude you and insult you       and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

christianity: Young Life Prayer Blitz - - - - 07/11/09 04:13 AM
Young Life of the Tri-Cities has challenged every person affiliated in any way to join for a 1/2 hour prayer blitz over the weekend.  Each person has signed up for 1/2 hour to pray for the needs and success of Young Life, Kane County, beginning Friday night and concluding tomorrow, Sunday night at 6:00 pm.  Yes that means that some people (who are better than me) are praying at 2 and 3 and 4 in the morning.  Yikes!!!
I just finished my 1/2 hour session.  Thankfully they gave me some things to pray for.  My shallow mind can only pray so … (2 comments)

christianity: When Milk can't take you any further in your spiritual walk. - 09/21/08 04:10 PM
I've always wanted to be in a great bible study.  I remember when I first became a Christian, I read the bible say like 5 - 7 times sraight.  It was the best thing around.  I was involved in some bible studies.  Life seemed so good.  Then as I grew, I realized that so many bible studies are really geared for the beginner.
I've been invited a ton of them.  I'm excited until I find out that they're really just geared towards the beginner.  Now don't get me wrong, we need stuff to feed the beginner or newly "saved."  But as men, … (10 comments)

christianity: I never do a thoughts post, but here's my Thought for the Week.... - 08/11/08 01:49 AM
I don't usually present this sort of info on the web, but as I've been going through some personal challenges in life I find comfort in sharing information that is/was beneficial to me.  In the case, I personally believe, that my comfort is in the Word of God.  A friend of mine sent this to me.  Timing is everything.  I've read this quote a zillion times, but now it's resonating in my heart:
4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, … (13 comments)

christianity: Jealousy and Anger....the sheer way to implode your business. - 07/16/08 10:50 AM
I have a lot of great competitors in my area.  My area that I recruit for is Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.  Most of my competitors THAT I KNOW are fun, honest and hard working.  There are still little rivalries between our companies, but nothing much pointing myself against them or vice versus.  The market is such that most, not all, of the dead weight and sleazy loan officers and mortgage companies have been flushed away.
I have seen one or two of my competitors get to a point that they're obsessed with others in the market.  I am the first to … (7 comments)

christianity: Walking by Faith in the Rain - 06/01/08 03:14 PM
Hugh invited me yesterday to joing this group.  I love a place for Christian fellowship.  However, I'm writing because my wife and I have ourselves been tested for over two years as to be walking by faith.  Kinda funny b/c my wife and I had a long conversation this evening obout our who we are, what we're doing and our plan for life.  Much of the conversation was about God leading you down a certain path.  Often times the greater the struggle the greater the victory.  That's why it's said you walk by faith and not by sight.  Often times the … (21 comments)

christianity: YOU'VE BEEN DISSED....NOW WHAT? - 03/19/08 04:08 PM
That's it...that's the bottom line....what do you do.  You've worked hard for months with a certain buyer and they decide not to buy in your area and they dump you for a realtor 5 towns over.  Or your loan was to close next week.  You've spent 45 days getting this deal done that no one else could do.  At the end of the day, they cancel the contract and say that they'll lose the earnest, money, but it's just not the right time to buy.
You definitely want your money.  I mean, you've worked so darn hard for it.  You're aware that … (10 comments)

christianity: Being a Dad can be tough! - 03/13/08 01:24 AM
Dad's, I have 3 sons. Yes....MY THREE SONS. I have a 9, 7 and 3 year old sons. I am a blessed man. Organized Chaos....nothing short of a dad raising a bunch of future leaders of America. I'm to raise just steller men. But I'm having a blast with them now. My oldest has the best heart ever. The second oldest is the clown and the sports jock, and the third is the one who is is kind and loving and a veritable tank - is such a combination possible? Men suck today as leaders because fathers let them down. They're … (14 comments)

christianity: Only one shot at raising your daughter..... - 03/12/08 01:55 AM
First, let me say that I"m not an emotional dude. Passionate yes, DEFINITELY SO! Passion is the onlhy way to do things. That goes to parenting as well. I have 5 and 1/2 kids. I have 5 kids at home and a half-niece that lives with us on and off again. My kids are 9, 7, 5, 3 and 8 months. I have 3 boys and 2 girls. My 5 year old girl is awesome. I didn't even want a stinkin girl either! I prayed for my first two kids to be boys....but I have one 5 year old girl and … (20 comments)

christianity: OK...so I acted like a baby today! Give me my bottle and leave me alone! - 02/14/08 02:31 PM
Gotta tell you when I was growing up I had a great family and a great life.  I went to college and spent 5 and 1/2 years graduating from a 4 year undergraduate school.  I found and accepted Christ into my life and "grew up" so to speak.  I went on and got a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and then went on and got a law degree at Northern Illinois University.
That brings me to today.  I have a number of commercial deals that I've been working on for over 9 months.  Today they've stalled somewhat.  No different really than … (9 comments)

christianity: Looking for a little prayer advice here - 01/22/08 02:56 AM
OK...not to be some kind of freak here, but I'm totally connected with Christ this year.  It's awesome quite frankly.  My business is at a record pace, not just for this market, but for any market.  I am working on some insanely huge commercial deals, my wife, for whatever reason still digs me after 10 years of marriage, we're building a new home and all 5 of my kids are just ass kickers....
But...knowing that I need to take it up a notch, I'm feeling led to crank my prayer life up a notch.  Anyway, there are two separate items that conflect … (16 comments)

christianity: Great Story from Great People....We need to be more like them... - 01/21/08 06:11 AM
Carol is a great client of mine.  We clicked immediately she eventually became even better friends with my partner, Kim.  Over the years, Carol has decided to get into real estate investing.  She had bought a home that she thought would be a quick and easy buy and sell, that she ended up owning for over a year.  Below is a story that is more than just a buy and a sell.  It's a great story featuring a great couple.  They are humble and I wasn't even aware of this part of their history.  Here's the information as published in the Kane … (6 comments)

christianity: Prayer.....it's role in LIFE BUSINESS AND PERSONAL - 10/29/07 02:54 PM
Prayer is such an important aspect of my life....I really have grown to love praying.  For me it's about connecting with Christ.  I have some Muslim friends, bhuddist friends and co-workers who are self-proclaimed athiests..... My point?
I'm not perfect.  never have been, never will be....but I make it a point to try to "not judge people"...so if you're of a different faith, or don't pray....such is life.  I'm not there to judge.  In my life, I've fallen short of other's ideals, God's ideals and even MY OWN IDEALS.  However, I don't quit.  I get such a connectivity to Christ that I can … (13 comments)

christianity: Your faith on display in real estate....or not - 08/04/07 07:52 AM
OK...I'm a Christian and Catholic.  So let's get that out of the way right away.  Both of those come with connotations of themselves.   A lot of Christians think that Catholics belong to the anti-christ and a lot of Catholics think that those who aren't Catholic are going to have a rough go of it trying to get to heaven.  I'm not here to debate those points.
Now that those statements are "out of the way," I have a great question for all of you.  Your faith plays a huge part of your personal makeup.  You're Christian, Muslim, Agnostic, Buddhist, Aeitheist, Naturist, … (41 comments)

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
