growth: The Problem with New Year's Resolutions - 04/29/12 10:44 AM
I've been obsessed all year!!!! Really.....I've been obsessed with change.  Change in 2012.  The problem with success....and the problem with New Year's Resolutions is that it takes change.  The real issue is the problem with change is that you actually have to change the things you're used to doing....AND YOU MAY HAVE BEEN DOING THINGS THE SAME WAY FOR A LONG LONG TIME.
I used to be a counselor.  I'd see women who were beaten by their husbands.  The problem with the battered wife is this....she hates the beatings....but she is more afraid of change than she is with the rote … (13 comments)

growth: Seriously.....I Think That I'm Back in the Game Here - 02/20/12 06:53 PM
So...I've been very remiss at posting on Active Rain for the last 3 weeks.  There are two primary reasons.  First, we've been growing by leaps and bounds, and I'm adhering to the use of "On Time."  As a result, I'm hiring a second assistant and I really grow and try to gain some serious market share!
Secondly, I have been going on Active Rain daily, but during it's upgrade period, I've been locked out and received about every error message under the sun.  I thought that Active Rain was favoring others because I'm watching others comment and I can't even get … (12 comments)

growth: Mirror Mirror on the Wall..... - 07/22/11 01:12 AM
I hate this part of my year.  After the first 1/2 of the year I take a look at my business and see where I am against my pre-set goals.  This year I'm doing great.  But the analysis and the waiting is nerve-racking.  My January and February sucked.  Sucked worse that almost anytime in the history of the life of Larry Bettag, the Mortgage Stud, God, Rock Star or whatever I call myself at the moment.
WHO'S THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL? This is the part that hurts.  Sure, I'm doing well, but measuring my January and February against prior years … (6 comments)

growth: When Milk can't take you any further in your spiritual walk. - 09/21/08 11:10 PM
I've always wanted to be in a great bible study.  I remember when I first became a Christian, I read the bible say like 5 - 7 times sraight.  It was the best thing around.  I was involved in some bible studies.  Life seemed so good.  Then as I grew, I realized that so many bible studies are really geared for the beginner.
I've been invited a ton of them.  I'm excited until I find out that they're really just geared towards the beginner.  Now don't get me wrong, we need stuff to feed the beginner or newly "saved."  But as men, … (10 comments)

growth: Cherry Creek Grows in 2008!!!! - 07/26/08 11:48 PM
I am excited to report that on August 16, 2008 the 3 Denver Metro Area branches of CTX mortgage along with 100% of their originators will join forces with us here at CCMC.  Their offices are located in Lakewood,  downtown Denver, and in Greenwood Village!  Our president has met personally with all of the employees from these branches and I have to say I'm most impressed with the quality of the people that continue to come on board at CCMC.   - they will certainly represent Cherry Creek very well in our marketplace here in Denver.  This is huge for us.
The additional production is great, but … (4 comments)

growth: Sprinting to Success...via the fast road....Your story - 07/14/07 11:23 PM

I was thinking this weekend, what a better post to make than to help each other go from zero to 100 in 5 seconds.  There are so many people who are:
1)  considering leaving the business;
2)  Hanging on by a thread in the business;
3)  or just entering the business;
The problem with a lot of people is that their confidence is commensurate with their financial business success.  So what success principle or principles do you have to help your fellow AR'er jump start their business.  Also...WHAT IS THE FASTEST ANYONE HAS GONE FROM A START UP TO FINANCIAL SUCCESS IN THIS BUSINESS?
My tip?  … (5 comments)

growth: Do Realtors Like to Grow or Just like being Busy????? - 05/03/07 10:09 PM
 One of the most exciting as well as disappointing things about real estate is that there are so many that just like insanity.  Remember that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I'm a top lender in my area.  Im in the top 3 nationally within my company.  What sets me apart is that I partner...yes...partner with my realtor referral partners.  That means that I care about their life plans, their visions and their goals.  I want to partner with people who think that partnership planning is important because that allows for huge growth … (4 comments)

growth: Balancing Chaos??????? - 05/02/07 11:06 AM
A great thing about our business is that you can run your life, run your business and run around.  Vacations, payroll, self-employed and visions are soooooooooooo much fun.  You really get to do all these things.  In fact, you MUST do all these things, in fact you HAVE TO do all these things.  Boy is it great.  I love this!  I'm married, we're pregnant with our 5th kid right now.  I'm the VP of Cherry Creek Mortgage.  I'm a practicing attorney.  I originate loans and I'm a branch manager.  I coach 5 originators.  Oh...I'm also the VP of a parochial school in Saint Charles.  I am … (8 comments)
