wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Yearning for a beautiful sunset..... - 07/10/13 03:47 AM
Gotta tell you.  Just got back from a great 4th of July week and it already seems as if it was 20 years ago.  Beautiful weather today doesn't eliminate the beauty that I've been walking away with and all of the R&R that we experienced up in Door County Wisconsin.  A lot of fun.
For obvious reasons, the beauty her in Sturgeon Bay means that even the best weather back home won't beat this in comparison.

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - A Smile that Makes it worth being a dad!!!! - 01/08/13 10:51 PM
This is my third in line.  Claire.  Just yesterday she got her braces off.  This photo was this past weekend as she went skiing up in Wisconsin.  She cried when she found out the slopes weren't opening until the evening, but all those tears turned to joy once she got out for a night of great skiing.
She's elated....and if she gets better, then I can take them all out west to Colorado for some serious skiing!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday - My Son and the Drunk - 12/11/12 10:34 PM
So I had my Green Bay Packer tickets to the game last week.  My son and I spent the night prior to the game at our farm.  Then we made the 2 hour jaunt to the game.  The game was great.  Great crowd, great revelry and a great win.  For my son, as much as he loved the game, he loved the life experience that the fans gave him.  Here, somewhere in the third quarter, we saw this drunk guy in the main concourse.  People were cheering and yelling and the guy would only open one eye and shut back down … (5 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - A Very Proud Papa - 08/08/12 01:14 PM
So, I take my boys up to Canada this year fo agreat week with my boys.
No cell phones.  No internet.  No video games.   Just father and son time.
I had a great time with these guys.  This is a small northern pike, only about 6 pounds, but for my boy.....it was nothing short of an awesome honeymoon with the great outdoors.

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Summer Family Fun - 08/01/12 04:22 AM
It has been one brutal summer hasn't it?  I have 5 kids, 3 of which are boys.  We did a football camp when it was over 100 degrees and I felt that they needed to have a cool head.  Seriously...with that heat, we need to have a cool head.  But the boys still couldn't resist a bit of fashion this summer when they wanted to get their mohawk on.
School starts in a month and they won't be able to MOHAWK it in school....so I figured...what the heck!!!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - A Boy and the Wilderness - 06/27/12 12:28 PM
I just got back from Northern Canada with my two boys.  We did a ton of fishing.  It was my first father/son experience with the boys in Canada.
We did so much fishing....one day, my second oldest son, Jake, yelled "DAD!" and he pointed to the shoreline.
We flew it back to Red Lake and got an export permit to bring it home.  The conservation officer said that this was the result of the moose kill.  In any event...
It was one of the best father/son experiences of the Bettag's life....so far.
In any event....it was a lot of fun!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - My Zoo at the Zoo - 04/04/12 01:58 AM
So for one day of Spring Break we are able to go off and spend time in Chicago doing things that we just normally won't do....not that we don't go to the Zoo, but we usually live the life of the Zoo and then, if we actually want to re-enact that experience, we go to the world famous...Brookfield Zoo.  So, this was a big deal to we little people.
It's rare that we let our family out in public.  Most people are fearful when they see to hearders and trying to manage their brood.
In any event...mom said we can to to … (6 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - My Daughter & Dora...what a Cheesy Post - 01/25/12 04:06 AM
OK....so, for me, this is the epitome of the cheesiest post ever.  Can't stand it.  However, my wife sold out and had to get Tessa with her movie star friend, Dora.  They both have great personalities, but I'm not letting my daughter take off and get the "Dutch Boy" haircut.  No way!
Anyway....I'm not really sure where this was, but it looks like it was on the outside of a grade school or a mall.  Who knows?
My daughter is happy, and mom is happy, and if momma's happy, everyone's happy!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Fun at the Green Bay Packer Loss!!! - 01/18/12 01:45 AM
I went to the Packer Game this past weekend.  It was cold and we had on at least 7 layers a piece.  My friend gave us some cool beer glasses that just seemed like a natural fit in the scheme of a Green Bay Packer playoff game.  Then we came across some dude with Christmas lights in his beard.  For my son, Brett, and me, it just seemed natural that we had to get the picture.  The dude was more than gracious!!!!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Dad's Rookie! - 12/21/11 01:16 PM
Nothing better than getting your own into sports.  My daughter, Claire, has her first season as playing basketball of any sort at all.  Never dribbled, never shot, but.....SHE'S VERY ATHLETIC!  She is into gymnastic, and is very even keel in all that she does, but it's a steep learning curve if you're not playing a long time.
This was one of her last games of the season.  In fact, then she had a double header.
SHE HAS NEVER SCORED A POINT ALL YEAR, BUT I told her that this is the one sport that it is acceptable to fight.
She was … (11 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Mom & Daughter at the Roller Rink - 12/14/11 03:24 PM
So my wife and I take our 9 year old out for her birthday party after Thanksgiving.  She's stoked.  Claire is my Steddy Eddie of the family.  They're all great in their own way, but she is Ms. Steady Eddie.  Needless to say, you would have thought that we purchased the entire Chuck E Cheese franchise.  After the older brothers got tired, she kept on keeping on.
Here is mom helping our four year old by acting as a pair of training wheels.  Life doesn't get much better now does it?

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Four Year Old living as a 9 Year Old - 12/07/11 02:37 PM
So....here she is at my other daughter's 9th Birthday, living high off the hog and thinking that she's a 9 year old 3rd grader.  Obviously, she isn't one of the girls, but you wouldn't know it by the looks of Tessa here.
She is riding in the wake of 8 different 3rd graders.  I've never seen her like this, but I will say that she sometjhing else.
Living, loving life, and wanting to be big.  Happy Wordless Wednesdays....

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - A face that melts a dad! - 11/30/11 01:25 PM

Need I say anything more?  I'm on the road and coming back again tomorrow....but just one day makes the heart grow fond.  Here's my "Dude," Grant.  Looking like a model.  He's cute as a button, but a lot of boy.  Loves football, but has a heart of passion that could make the Pope cry.  Compassion and Passion all built into one!  Gotta love being a dad.

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Here's Who I'm Thankful for This Thanksgiving - 11/23/11 03:08 PM

OK....nothing over the top.  Nothing too outrageous.  Something a bit boring.  Something a bit old - fashioned, but in truth, my wife is someone who I am incredibly thankful for.  Remember that dream that you had as a kid?  Football player, Rock & roll singer, Astronaut, president.  Me?  My only dream was to get married to someone who loved me, have a bunch of off the wall kids who'd appreciate a freak daddy, like myself, and change the world.  Michelle took a leap of faith...and for that....
I'm THANKFUL!  Always will be....Thanks babe!  Happy Thanksgiving Michelle! … (9 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Summer Loving - 11/16/11 03:25 PM

I hate the fact that the hot days of summer are over.  We're having a blast, but in the sunroom on our back porch, I have just done a great meal with my wife and her friends.  Now...it's time for me to put my young dude, Grant down for the night!  Sheer bliss.  Love the tan and the color that the summer gives us all.  I don't mind looking back when a good time was had by all.

wordless wednesday photos: Family Fun at the Farm - 10/26/11 02:41 PM

OK....here I am with my 3rd and 4th kids at the farm.  Of course, my wife got this past weekend off, because, super dad that I am, stole the kids from her and absconded to the board with all five of the beasts!  She loves me more with all 5 out of her hair, but all 5 love me more because of all the one on one time that dad gave them away from work.
BEST PART....MY CELL DOESN'T GET RECEPTION AT THE FARM!!!! So....here it is, this past Saturday morning, big sis, Claire, and Grant get to go for … (12 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - THE POWER OF A SMILE!!!!! - 10/19/11 03:53 PM

I have to say that fall is by far, my favorite season.  I love hanging with my 3 boys and two girls.  For me, there's nothing better than a genuine, from the gut, heartfelt laugh!  This, right here is one of my all time favorite pictures.  The smile's not forced.  His gut is busting and all of his genuine thrills can't help but make you smile.

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday - I don't look as good as my wife, but I tried - 10/05/11 04:29 PM

So I'm thinking to myself about regrets.  Do I loathe the fact that I wore a dress and stockings and looked like a 225 pound Saint Pauli Girl?  Not really, you see this past Saturday we went to an Octoberfest party at a friend of mine's house .... from college.  My wife and I got matching "Octoberfest Outfits."  I was the hit of the party, but in truth, couldn't hold a dime to her natural beauty.  I tried, but then again, I'd worry if I truly did look good!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday - Rock & Roll Family!!!! - 09/28/11 04:43 PM

So what if I go to church every weekend.  So what if my kid goes to the local parochial school.  Our family really is the House of Rock.  Yes....Claire and I went to our annual daddy / daughter date the other day.  How great was that?  A lot of fun, for sure.  I got to wear my rock & roll fun and she got to dress a bit beyond her years.  The killer was when she got to play air guitar while I sang AC / DC's "You Shook Me all Night Long."  I'm beat!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesdays - Take em all on! - 09/21/11 02:45 PM

Love to say that my boy is going to the NFL and playing for the Packers, but hey...that's between him and God.  He's a great kid.  Here he is taking on 5 defenders.  Sure, we're an expansion team, but I love this photo because it's one against 5.  I don't see any NFL scouts, but I can say....a play like this needs to be on a Sports Illustrated pull out.  I'm just a biased dad!
