wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Yearning for a beautiful sunset..... - 07/10/13 03:47 AM
Gotta tell you.  Just got back from a great 4th of July week and it already seems as if it was 20 years ago.  Beautiful weather today doesn't eliminate the beauty that I've been walking away with and all of the R&R that we experienced up in Door County Wisconsin.  A lot of fun.
For obvious reasons, the beauty her in Sturgeon Bay means that even the best weather back home won't beat this in comparison.

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Camping on Spring Break - 03/28/12 12:36 PM
So I'm sitting here with my wife doing work.  She is watching some flick about Marilyn Monroe and I'm contemplating life and my future with every step of all I do.  In the meantime, I'm reminiscing about my childhood as my two boys are camping outside right now with their cousins.  My oldest boys are 13 and 11, and their cousins are 14 year old twins.  For me.....it doesn't get any better than this....

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Speed is Fun - 03/21/12 12:10 AM
Remember when it was so cool to put your head out of the back of your dad's station wagon and open your mouth?  Or maybe you put your hand out against the resistence of the wind and let it climb and drop?  I was taking my daughter home this weekend and without her knowing just grabbed the cam and let it go.  She said "heyyyyyyyyyy."  I gotta tell you...I just love it!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesday - I don't look as good as my wife, but I tried - 10/05/11 04:29 PM

So I'm thinking to myself about regrets.  Do I loathe the fact that I wore a dress and stockings and looked like a 225 pound Saint Pauli Girl?  Not really, you see this past Saturday we went to an Octoberfest party at a friend of mine's house .... from college.  My wife and I got matching "Octoberfest Outfits."  I was the hit of the party, but in truth, couldn't hold a dime to her natural beauty.  I tried, but then again, I'd worry if I truly did look good!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesday - Rock & Roll Family!!!! - 09/28/11 04:43 PM

So what if I go to church every weekend.  So what if my kid goes to the local parochial school.  Our family really is the House of Rock.  Yes....Claire and I went to our annual daddy / daughter date the other day.  How great was that?  A lot of fun, for sure.  I got to wear my rock & roll fun and she got to dress a bit beyond her years.  The killer was when she got to play air guitar while I sang AC / DC's "You Shook Me all Night Long."  I'm beat!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Take em all on! - 09/21/11 02:45 PM

Love to say that my boy is going to the NFL and playing for the Packers, but hey...that's between him and God.  He's a great kid.  Here he is taking on 5 defenders.  Sure, we're an expansion team, but I love this photo because it's one against 5.  I don't see any NFL scouts, but I can say....a play like this needs to be on a Sports Illustrated pull out.  I'm just a biased dad!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - 4th of July Fun - 09/07/11 03:29 AM

So the only one of the group that's mine is the one on the far left.  The one in the black shirt.  That's Claire.  Here she is with some of her cousins at our 4th of July bash at grandma and grandpa's at Door County Wisconsin.  A sunset photo really.  These kids love the events, but, in truth, they love hanging out with each other more than anything.  They all get along so well!  It's always an adventure!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - A brave Young Man - Part II for today! - 08/24/11 05:00 PM

Sometimes it's really easy for me to put up my family in these wordless wednesday photos.  I just had this forwarded to me from a client.  My kids range in age from 4 to 12.  I"m guessing that this kid is about 8, 9 or 10.  Not really sure, but if I stare at this and open my mind, I can imagine one of my boys being there if I were to have lost my life serving our country.
I didn't serve our country.  I just didn't.  This kid's dad did.  Maybe it was his mom, but irrespectively, he has a … (12 comments)

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Sleeping Beauty....NO, REALLY! - 08/17/11 02:04 AM

Everyone says how precious she is.  I say that when any kid is sleeping like this, it's undeniable!  It really comes down to how are they when they're awake?  I will say out of the 5 that we have, she is the most steady, and even keeled kid that we have....and we have a few.  However, she is non-stop....until her battery dies.  Here....her battery died and she's in the midst of the re-charge!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Halloween Fun - 08/09/11 05:41 PM

Sure...I'm getting my blink on, but hey....you can't go wrong wiith having your oldest wearing a pumpkin for Halloween now can you?  How fun?  First time in the Bettag house and he was one proud papa of his creation.  But....before he could get carving he had to try it on for size.  He's ready for this year too!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Flattop Mountain and Hallet Peak - 08/03/11 04:54 AM

So we just get back from Rocky Mountain National Park.  Our rule....you can hike your age.  This photo represents 2 hikes.  It's 2 miles up and 2 miles down from Emerald Lake.  My 4 year old was able to make the entire trip.
For the second hike my two oldest boys, Brett and Jake, as well as my wife...we climbed to the top of Flattop and Hallet's Peak (to the left in the background).  That was 11 miles round trip.  My kids don't swear (as I don't either), but if they could the would have M-F'd me the entire … (9 comments)

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Two Awesome Prizes - 07/26/11 05:47 PM

So, I have these two kids.  I have my youngest and my second oldest here in this shot.  My kids are hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park.  It was fun....truthfully a blast.  Our family rule is this.  You need to hike your age.  Needless to say, if it's a 4 year old, then they should be able to hike 4 miles.  My 4 year old, Tessa, was able to make the 4 mile hike.  A proud parent and a proud moment with a proud big brother here.

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Summer Snow - 07/13/11 05:23 AM

Last summer we went to Colorado during the summer.  We were a bit up fall river road and the snow started a coming!  My wife was freaking out....until we got to the top, but once we go there....the snow stopped and it was beautiful.  We're in the midst of planning a return trip to the Rockies and we just can't wait!  A little taste of heaven!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesday Part II - Tessa's 4th Birthday!!!! - 07/06/11 04:40 PM

OK....today my youngest turns 4.  Yikes!!!!!!  Blows me away.  Her favorite is Dora!  Yes, she likes Dora probably even more than me, mom and her 4 siblings.  However, since she's only 2 years away from her "golden birthday," we thought we'd splurge and bring her best friend to the party.  It's not often that Dora can make the cameo, but we pulled a few strings and got her here!  Lots of fun for all!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Literally - Wordless Peeps! - 07/06/11 09:26 AM

I know, I know, I know....I'm violating the code of "Wordless Wednesdays."  However, two of my kids are not breaking the code.  Both of them are adhering to the code and being incredibly wordless.  Needless to say, 4th of July weekend with all 27 cousins took it all out of them.  The first day was adrenaline...the second day was running on gas, and the third day was all exhaustion!  Simply amazing!  They had a great time.  I became that picture when I got home....late on the 5th.

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - ME AND DITKA....DA COACH!!!! - 06/29/11 05:03 PM

So...1 year ago I was able to attend a fundraiser at Rosary High School in Aurora.  Kurt Becker, one of Ditka's linemen is a coach at Marmion Military Academy in Aurora as a brother school.  Kurt got Mike to speak about life, persistence.  Needless to say, on the way out I tackled the coach and was able to get this picture.  Let me just say that was more than gracious with his time.  Glad to have a picture...even from a hard core PACKER BACKER!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Daddy Likey - 06/22/11 06:06 AM

So two weeks ago I go on a father and son camping trip.  It was really just an overnight, but anytime you take all 5, it's a trip, if you you know what AI mean.  Needless to say, we camped out and the next morning....feeling and looking kinda campy, we were able to ride golf carts and ATV's across the property grounds.  Here's Claire and her new friend, Davis, picking flowers for their dads on the trip.

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Kids and Wine! - 06/15/11 05:49 AM

So after our campout (and me being up all night with horrible sleep), we got up and ate and shot the guns a bit.  The older two boys took off and went off to ride some golf carts around the premises.  TJ, is the owner of the Highlands...(check out www.thehighlandsclub.com).  Needless to say we had a great time and a friend of ours snapped a photo of us in front of the vineyards.  I will say that I don't like any wine from the midwest.  TJ's wine is insane.  He has a California winemaker.  We took this shot to make … (7 comments)

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - My Bride - 06/08/11 08:33 AM

So all my pics are of my kids, mountains, Canada, or the great outdoors.  My not so shy wife is out with the girls somewhere enjoying herself.  Needless to say, I think that she enjoys the freedom from me and the 5 kids more than the rest of us.  Just kidding, but I know that she likes her night out!

wordless wednesday pictures: Wordless Wednesdays - Best Friends & Goofy Friends!!!! - 06/01/11 11:23 AM

My girl?  She's the goofy one on the right....I'm amazed that she and her friend both actually think that they're funny, fun and cool.  For me????  Well....let's just say that I'm nothing more than good old dad.  Actually, Claire is lucky because she's surrounded by bookends of boys.  So when the girlfriend gets the chance to come on over, well.....she's all over that.  THUS THE GOOFINESS!
