I haven't been on Active Rain in awhile. It isn't that I wasn't thinking about my old friends here. I missed you all a lot. I even tried to resurrect Carnac more than once, but found it absolutely impossible considering the growth of Active Rain and the fact that 99% of the 200,000 members wouldn't even recognize Carnac. I suspect that some of the new folks would think I'm a wise ass rather than a really nice person with a sense of humor that offends occasionally. (Ok, more than occasionally.) Oh, how I miss the ginzu knives, moderator dart boards, and the spatulas from Spatula City.

I just returned from the National Association of Realtors convention in San Diego. NAR's chief economist Lawrence Yun spoke to a room packed with REALTORS® and projected that real estate prices would climb about 4% in 2010, while the number of home sales will increase 15%.  He also predicts that foreclosures will peak during the first half of 2010 and that Realtor incomes will go up 20 percent next year.

1.  In addition to their regular salary, the 100 paid bloggers of Active Rain (you know who you are) will receive a bonus equal to 2.87% of their point total in 2009.

I really tried to do a nice sweet Thanksgiving post.  You know the one where I thank you all for being in my life this year. And how thankful I am to have found Active Rain. In fact, Carnac predicts that by the end of the day there will be 1145 of those sugary Thanksgiving Posts here.

  The last 30 days have been unprecedented. Carnac material has never been easier.  Only days after my last post, the proverbial poop hit the fan when it was discovered that rain gangs* were gaming the point system.  The post, Did you earn your points fairly, or did you find a loophole?  had it all - WOW!   And just when I thought it couldn't get any better....yep,  it just kept getting better.

August was another controversial one on Active Rain, complete with hundreds of red x's, rude members, vote tampering, banned members, ugly comments, and whiners.  Lots of whiners.  First...the only serious note of this post...always remember this..... receiving comments on your post is a privilege not a right.  If you aren't getting comments on your posts, it could be that people just don't like you.

When Carnac first came on the scene on January 1st of this year, he poked fun at the regular Rainers.  It seems for the first two months of the year, everyone here knew Angus, Kristal, ARDELL, Broker Bryant, Lenn's maps, Maureen's Carnivals and Carole's trains.  Most of the people that Carnac picked on were good sports about it.  (OK.....so one or two people didn't appreciate his sense of humor.)  But it's much harder now.   With 25,000 Active Rainers, it isn't quite so easy to be funny enough for everyone to "get it".  Fortunately Edna McMahon from Michigan had a few predictions to help get Carnac started and the rest … (63 comments)

On March 10th, Carnac of Connecticut was in a panic.  "The Rainers are behaving, this is no fun at all!"   But as March moved on, the Rainers didn't disappoint as the shenanigans began. And this month,  Edna McMahon from Michigan,* even stopped by with a couple predictions of her own.  Today the pressure didn't let up as the Carnac Chant was heard throughout the rain.
And so..... right on schedule, here are Carnac of Connecticut's April 1st predictions:
