ledyard ct: The Police are following me on Twitter - 04/05/09 08:32 AM
An email recently landed in my inbox with the subject line " Ledyard Police is now following you on Twitter." I admit it was a bit disconcerting. Actually, I freaked out temporarily when I realized I was one of only 3 people being followed. I ran into "Ledyard Police" a few nights later. I'm a member of the Ledyard Town Council and we were discussing the police budget. (Honestly, I don't make this stuff up.) As it turns out "Ledyard Police" was following me for all the right reasons. It seems that police departments in the area are considering Twitter

ledyard ct: The Lost Art of Packing a Lunch - 12/25/08 02:33 PM
I'm not sure what made me think about brown bag lunches and high school. It could be that the holidays always bring back memories of growing up in Pittsburgh. Or it may have just been that genoa salami sandwich that reminded me of Labriola's, the Italian Store where my family shopped on Larimer Avenue. When I attended Sacred Heart High School in Pittsburgh way back in the 1960's, I carried a brown bag lunch. I didn't walk up hill both ways to school but I did walk down a steep one to catch a street car. Since most of us used public transportation to get to

ledyard ct: Beware of Do It Yourselfers - 03/13/08 05:05 PM
I can't even begin to count how many times I look at homes and discover that the owners didn't apply for a required building permit. Decks or sheds seem to be the biggest culprits and mostly fall into the "I didn't realize I needed a building permit" category. But I also find a fair amount of finished basements without required permits. These sometimes falls into the "but then my taxes would be higher" category. Yikes. As a seller's agent, I always print out a copy of the assessor's property card before I go to visit a home. This is where I find the hidden secrets like the 3 bedroom,

ledyard ct: From Single to Team to Single Again - 01/01/08 09:39 AM
In 2000 when I turned 50, some friends gave me golf lessons for my birthday. I think they were trying to tell me I was working way too hard and I needed to have more fun. They were right... So I decided to take golf lessons AND build a team. After 23 years, I had a great business and the ability to generate more leads than I could handle. My team was formed and during the past 7 years, I've had great success with buyer specialists and a full time "Client Care Manager". And I had time to do some golfing. Today I become single again. Today I

ledyard ct: Pooper Troopers on "Doodie" in Ledyard - 06/05/07 07:43 PM
K-9 Clean Up Service comes to town Gales Ferry resident Anne Marie Beers stopped by my office today to place an ad in my "I Love Ledyard" newspaper. I was fascinated by her new business, Pooper Troopers, which was born about 4 months ago. As advertised, Pooper Troopers "takes away what your dog leaves behind". Anne Marie was a good sport and even laughed when I expressed my concern about what a crappy job she had. I suspect she's heard it a million times and my comment didn't come off as very original. Besides being a fun person, I loved the fact that Anne Marie donates a portion of every

ledyard ct: Buttonwood Farms in Griswold, CT - 04/28/07 05:38 PM
It was a great spring day here in Connecticut and I found myself thinking about one of my favorite summertime adventures - a trip to Buttonwood Farms in Griswold. There are 2 reasons to go there. First, is the photo opportunity. The owners at Buttonwood Farms plant 10 acres of sunflowers, providing 300,000 magnificant blooms framed by blue skies and stone walls. Every year they sell bunches of these flowers and donate the proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. People and their cameras show up from all over the state to visit. I go back each year to see if I can take an even

ledyard ct: Stone Walls of Ledyard, CT - 04/22/07 07:20 PM
Every Friday on my Eastern CT Real Estate Blog I post a photo for Photo Friday. Some Fridays, a photo idea comes easier than others..... I've been a resident of Ledyard, CT since 1972 and have always been fascinated with the stone walls that line roads and form borders all over town. I was admiring a stone wall that bordered a listing of mine on Gallup Hill Road in Ledyard, when someone suggested I check out the stone walls that line the entrance to the Gallup Hill Cemetary just down the road. Hard to believe I missed this for over 35 years!

ledyard ct: BREAKING NEWS - NORWICH CT - 03/24/07 06:35 PM
I'm originally from the city of Pittsburgh. I was born, raised and attended school there. I still love Pittsburgh and all that goes with living in the city - a championship football team, shopping, museums, music and the arts. But you gotta love living in a small town like Ledyard, CT, as I have for the past 35 years. My friends, who cheer for the New England Patriots, kindly tolerate my dedication to the Pittsburgh Steelers. One of my rituals throughout the day is checking the local online newspaper site to see what is being reported. On Friday, the following was listed as
