Glastonbury CT - Power outage update. Free Cell phone Charging Stations - 08/30/11 08:35 AM
Yesterday, the Town of Glastonbury announced that they are opening the following public buildings for showers, cell phone charging and water!
 
Showering facility:
Glastonbury High School, 330 Hubbard Street.  Hours of operation are 6:00 AM till 10:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday and 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
 
Got Waste?
The Bulky Waste facility at 1145 Tryon Street will be accepting tree and other bulky waste debris all week from 7:00 AM till 7:00 PM for Glastonbury Residents.  There will be no fees.

How do you stay connected during a disaster? - 08/28/11 09:01 AM
I posted a blog earlier today and thought, hey, I just found out how to take advantage of social media to stay in touch during a disaster but does everyone else know?
Hurricane will be in our state in 2 hours.  We have already had our brook overflow and making its way to my house and now, we have a tree fallen a crossed the street..we dont know what to expect next and I want to stay connected.

With Hurricane almost here, I have found the use of social media likely my saving grace if we were to loose power.  Which, is a matter of time, most neighbors and friends in area are now without power.
If you want to stay connected, find your local news station, LIKE the page and then find them on Twitter and follow them. I am able to see live broadcast of the weather on my cell phone via facebook.
