CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Henderson County served approximately 121 children in 2011. These are children who end up in the Court System as an abused or neglected child. The court must decide the fate of the child. Each child is assigned a CASA. This CASA is a volunteer. They are not paid.
This advocate works with the System to ensure the safety of the child. This advocate files a report to the Court with recommendations. Based on information submitted by the child's CASA, the Court must make a decision on what is in the child's best interest. It could … (1 comments)

Abused and neglected children. Unfortunately, you can find them in all our communities.
It seems unbelievable this could happen in our small, little, rural southern town or for that matter in Anytown, USA. But it does, everyday.
For the last two years, I have had the privilege of working with an organization in our community known as CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
The mission of CASA is to recruit, train, and supervise community volunteers to be advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system. Seems pretty amazing to find volunteers willing to take on such a task. Well, we … (2 comments)

April is child abuse awareness month across the country. The statistics are heartbreaking. The number of children killed in the US as a result of child abuse.

Not sure about everywhere, but in Tennessee, we have a sales contract that has a place in which a rejected offer is signed by the seller. Don't most sales contracts offer you a place to "Accept, Counter or Reject"?
Well, why do banks and foreclosure companies think that don't have to abide by the rules?
