This place is fine..Sure there are several here who drive each other nuts at times and chances are(like me)you're one of them.......

God created Both Good and Evil... He gave each human Free Will to choose how to approach each and every moment of their time on earth.........

He made NO man ruler over another. He ultimately is Our judge and our Jury if you so believe in such a concept...... and even if you don't ......it will likely hold true in the end for even you.......

What does it say about our Character or lack thereof if we chose to Only interact with those of like mind.. If we could only expound strength to those who admired our false sense of importance because we were "tickling' their ears with what they were yearning to hear ?

What might have happened to the Jesus of the Bible had he only encountered and spoke to those who never opposed him? Would the need for the Cross have ever existed? He might never have been the target of the Crucifixion that saved us who believe Jesus died for our sins.

A comment I recently read here in the "Rain" by a member stated that they "would not in America nor in Active Rain" be a party to conversations with people of opposing veiws because they, as he put it, 'demonized" his own opinion...

I Thank God that we have opposing views here in Active Rain and everywhere for that matter... To stimulate and to question our own beliefs constantly. Growth NEVER ceases...nor should it. When I become so fixed with my own "opinions" I cease to to be as God intended me to be. Human and fallible.

I pray i never isolate myself from any one person or Group of people who differ from my own opinions... God placed each of us here for a purpose.. EACH of us have something to offer to humanity... I will NEVER judge any one to the point I play God over that persons life to the extent I ostracize them from my presence.

Each morning before my feet hit the ground i say "God if there be someone you need to speak to today ..use me..." should I then follow it up with.."but don't let it be to someone I don't like!"

Many times God uses those who oppose me as sandpaper to refine the rough places in my character... God forbid I would ever deny God, the Master and creator of my being the opportunity to attempt to teach and mold me to be more in His image...

Eight years of war have left people exhausted and impatient. Here and abroad.

The Afghan people are increasingly skeptical that the Taliban can ever be defeated even if more troops are sent.

With the greatest source of funding to the Taliban coming from the World's largest poppy (opium) trade this is a never ending battle.

We fail to even make a dent in the drug trafficking trade in our own country. How can one even think we can fight against Drug trafficking in Afghanistan,,,,and as long as it overruns the Country and most likely it always will.. what Hope is there to win this unending battle?

The consensus of the Afghan people is that the only way out of this is for the Afghan government to negotiate with the Taliban to find a peaceful solution to cohabitate together.

Of Course this is not an acceptable solution as far as we as Americans are concerned because if the Taliban is set free to do as they please it will only serve to make the rest of the world unsafe and in danger of more frequent terrorist attempts.. Totally unacceptable.

My prayers are with the Troops as to their safe and speedy return to Home and family.

Cheney for President 2012

Wow, Seems a large number of people in this country liked the success of the last administrations Eight years in the White House so much that they have launched "Draft Dick Cheney 2012" -

The organization - "Draft Dick Cheney 2012" - launched on Friday, unveiled their new web site.

Their aim: To convince the former vice president to seek the Republican presidential nomination in the next race for the White House. But there may be a major roadblock to the group's pitch - Cheney himself.

Seems when asked to run he stated 'No way" but we have heard that one before from a number of politicians.

Wonder if he will pick Palin as his running mate? i must admit i was disappointed in 2000 he was not the Presidential Candidate. I actually preferred him over Bush and felt it should have been a Cheney/Bush ticket. But i voted for them anyway.

To many measure it only the cost of Military lives that are lost BUT the price tag is much much higher than only the Brave and unending sacrifice of life and limb our men and women in uniform make each and every day... The price also involves civilian life and limb in high numbers and then there is the seldom realized price the thousands of Children pay..in more ways than we can even imagine... Afghan refugees who fled the war-torn south have claimed they are so neglected by government in Kabul that their children are dying from hypothermia for want of the most basic supplies. “Afghanistan has the highest infant mortality rate in the world," “Seventy per cent of the population has no access to safe drinking water. Thirty percent of children are involved in child labour. President Lou Dobbs?

As most of us are aware Lou Dobbs recently quit his anchor man position at CNN...

No real reasons given for the departure. The week before he quit shots were fired outside his home as his wife was exiting her car.... some rumored fear may have played a big part......

For now he has not taken a job with any other television stations but continues to host his radio program and oversee his website Lou Dobbs.com

Ex-CNNer Lou Dobbs tells WTOP this morning that he feels "liberated and emancipated" since leaving the network - and he's not ruling out the possibility of running for president in 2012.

As we all gather with family and friends tomorrow, many of us will be praying before digging in to all the delicious goodies and for some a big huge turkey, others steak or ham and unfortunately some will have none ...

.May we ALL say a prayer for our troops as we approach Tuesday and what is very likely to be an announcement by Our Commander and Chief to send thousands of troops to Afghanistan in the coming weeks and months...

May God Bless and Protect our troops and give His angels charge over them as they fight in a distant land to keep America safe from another terrorist attack...

Regardless of what anyone feels or thinks about our President it can NEVER be an easy decision to hold yourself accountable for the sacrafice of our brave Military men and women in uniform when a life is lost for the greater good of our country..

My family has always had the tradition of joining hands to say "Grace" before carving the turkey and going from one to the next with each person saying what they were most Thankful for...

I recall one Thanksgiving Long Long ago when there was about 25 of us . Each one of us reciting something we were blessed by that year... such as Health, family, love and the like.. With heads bowed and eyes closed it came to the last to speak... my elder son then only 17 years old

I will never forget his words.. "Lord, I just want to thank you for making me so handsome that all the girls Love me..."

Needless to say the moment was no longer somber.

May you ALL have a very Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving and hopefully most will be surrounded by loved ones..

For those who may be spending the day without loved ones remember there is No Time Nor Distance that can separate you from the Love of God...

How to get Organized.. Anyone Know?

Are you one of those "few" unorganized people such as myself? Try as I might it seems no matter how many times or many gadgets, files, folders or drawers I possess I just can't keep things where they belong. A pack rat to the core!

Oh, it looks good on the surface. Neat as a pin and the decor 'marvelous". But God forbid I go on an unexpected hiatus and the need arise for someone to open one of my cupboards or drawers looking for some important piece of information or item.

There must be someone out there that has the answer to "how to get and stay organized". Is there a Book with magic dust ? I am open to ALL suggestions.(except the obvious, a bonfire and start over. Been there, done that!)

I Pray as Americans we begin to Unite and declare the good in all mankind.

To refrain from the bickering, the division, the HATE for our Brothers and our Sisters who do not believe as we do on political and social issues such as health care, abortion and gay rights just to name a few of the things RIPPING our great Country apart.

I do not agree on several issues with the some here. In many ways the fighting among us all has harmed, more than helped, the "average" man or woman in this country.

I find it a waste of my time and energy to posting a Blog or embark in oral discourse on the NEGATIVE nature of this leader or any other political subject

I stand proudly and say,"Give me my rose colored glasses". If you view the political arena with dark colored lenses it will dim your perception of the good in people and you will view only what you perceive as evil.

This country NEEDS change. BUT it must begin with us, as individuals. Stand up and be counted.

Let your voice count for the good you believe is in without hate and without playing the game like CHILDREN in the sand box...Crying Foul and taking your toys and going home to hide your heads in the sand of your own thoughts and sometimes misconceptions about people you do NOT even know.

Tearing down your opponent will NEVER lead to a better tomorrow in this country. Evil is predominate all around us. Do we really want to stand and be counted in the mist of it's negativity?

As business professionals we need to be beacons of light in a darkened world. We need to shine our lights of intellect, education and humanity for all mankind brightly with a POSITIVE attitude in all matters and towards ALL people.

Some of you may be wise beyond measure or have crystal balls on your dining room table that allow you to see the "Truth" and you believe it is your moral obligation and duty to warn us "not so wise, little people" of the great tragedy that awaits us if we foolishly wish for the American Dream to return with the help of a particular President or a particular event.

I'd rather stand alone with HOPE than together in a multitude of negative mentalities.  I believe in "America the Beautiful".

A few months ago I wrote a Post about the Controversial Michael Moore..

Now even I know most of what this guy does and says is for "entertainment' and to make money..

But I must admit i walked out of the theater a few years back after watching "Fahrenheit 911", scratching my head and "wondering" how much was true. It certainly grabbed a lot of attention.

I have not had the opportunity to view some of his most recent work but I plan on renting "Capitalism" as soon as it is available.

Mr. Moore is one of those guys that is very easy to dislike...certainly by all who are even remotely Conservative. Kind of like a slime-bag 'ambulance chasing" attorney..wouldn't you agree?

But if you take him with a grain of salt (and a strong martini) he offers many laughs and a few believable conspiracy theories ...

BUT I would like to share again some very Intellectual ideas and things we ALL can do to be involved with getting our country back On track..

These 15 things are beneficial to BOTH sides of the isle and certainly to those of you fortunate to be in the Middle. Leaning neither left or Right, (I envy you)

2. Congress must join the civilized world and expand Medicare For All Americans

5. Take care of yourself and your family. Sorry to go all Oprah on you, but she's right: Find a place of peace in your life and make the choice to be around people who are not full of negativity and cynicism. Look for those who nurture and love. Turn off the TV and the Blackberry and go for a 30-minute walk every day. Eat fruits and vegetables and cut down on anything that has sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour or too much sodium (salt) in it (and, as Michael Pollan says, "Eat (real) food, not too much, mostly plants"). Get seven hours of sleep each night and take the time to read a book a month. I would love to take this opportunity to introduce my AR friends and peers to one of the newest members of AR and another "not so new" but just as deserving of my attention.

Over 165 posts BUT I will certainly find this one to be the proudest moment and memory in my 18 months as a member of Active Rain and my trivial attempt at blogging.

Those of you that know me are aware that my son has been a member of this community for as long as i have and he has been blessed with making several connections here with Realtors in his local area and securing contracts for remodeling jobs on home purchases that required a variety of updating , remodeling and general repair work.

Now there is more to add to his success story. His beautiful wife has recently created and began working hard at her own Staging Business "Stage it Judy" and she is a brand "Newbie" to Active Rain.

(she joined to read "me") But I won't hold my breathe for my son to join in .. #1 he hasn't the time and #2 I think he would fare vary well writing Christian posts if and when he finds the time. I think he has penned 2 posts in the 18 months he has been here but he certainly learned how to network by commenting and talking with locals on AR.

So there it is ....my happiest moment in my 18 months on AR...introducing you to my family...

Wanted...Patriotic Progressives .. I Know You're Out There.....

What exactly is a Progressive and why on earth would I want to find them?

As a lifelong republican that became totally disillusioned with my Party and it's leaders in 2008 I made the Brave move to break free and cross those party lines and I voted for Barack  Obama HOPING for a better America..

Now for the first time in my life I have been exposed to BOTH sides of the isle........

So exactly where does a disillusioned Republican go from here?

The Progressive Democrats of America believes that the Iraq war is one of the worst foreign policy disasters in U.S. history

The Progressive Democrats of America want to reduce America's dependence on oil and fossil fuels

Patriotic progressives want the upcoming jobs summit to speak for hundreds of millions of Americans who want real change, real jobs . We do not want and should not accept a jobs summit that is nothing more than a genial photo-op for the status quo in a nation where the majority believes we are moving in the wrong direction.

The above sounds like things I can get my teeth in to and grab hold of.

But still not sure where progressives stand on Issues like health care reform, abortion, Gay Marrige or Civil Union, environmental issues, immigration, gun control, foreign policy and what can we do about economic recovery and job creation to help this Country begin to bouce back.

So here I am a Patriot in the Greatest Country on God's Earth with the title: Child of God, Mother, Women, Friend and yet I know not what political label I am to bestow upon myself or even if I must?

Is this President Hell Bent on destroying the Country as some of the paranoia grows and sprouts the fear that leads some to type their conspiracy theories as though they were Truth instead of Twilight Zone stories that should fill the Fiction shelves of our local bookstores????

Bickering does not help or serve any purpose to find solutions for a better America .....If we can not work from the right and the left to find the CENTER...what HOPE is there?

We must strive to be better People... better Americans... better Friends.... we must leave our toys in the sandbox and realize there is good and bad to be found in every president... We will find whatever it is we What are looking for..What are you Looking for??????

I often wonder exactly what does the word "Free" mean in the above slogan in reference to what we all hold near and dear to us in this country.......

Is this supposed "freedom' meant to take place ONLY if you are a Christian/Conservative Male?

.......God gave ALL humans Freewill NOT ONLY TO OBEY BUT TO COMMIT SIN as well...

BUT if you are a freethinking liberal woman your freedoms are certain to be limited if the above segment of society has it's way with the laws of the land.....

They seek to take away rights over our own bodies in regard to abortion under the supervision of a skilled doctor......... A choice that should leave us to be held accountable only to God and not to another mere man...

They seek to limit and restrict mammograms, cervical exams and the like......

If they win with laws over these issues in regard to our own bodies what comes next?

Somali woman stoned to death

A Somali woman has been stoned to death for committing what a judge has said was adultery.

The 20-year-old divorcee was executed on Tuesday after confessing to having had sex with a 29-year-old unmarried man.

The woman was killed in front of a crowd of some 200 people near the town of Wajid.

The woman, who gave birth to a stillborn child, was buried up to her waist before the stoning took place. Her boyfriend was given 100 lashes for having the affair.
A pregnant girl is due to be given the same punishment in the next few months after she gives birth.

In November 2008, a 13-year-old rape victim was stoned to death after being accused of adultery.

Well, Not too much I can say regarding this because I do not listen to Lou Dobbs nor CNN very much other than Larry King Live or maybe when there is a huge Live News event taking place somewhere...

I do know he is known for speaking out on Immigration and The Bailouts....

No news yet as to where he goes from here...

Perhaps he aspires to Politics... Who Knows....
But doubtful ? /
Maybe he plans on going nowhere as I read a report that shots were fired outside his home last week... Crazy people in this world... to say the least........
perhaps his wife whom i hear was outside their home as the shots were fired convinced him "it just isn't worth their lives"?
I certainly wish him success where ever he goes...maybe he will make a bid for President...

One of the most common statements from the "Religious Right" is that they want this country to "return to the Christian principles on which it was founded".

However, a little research into American history will show that this statement is a lie. The men responsible for building the foundation of the United States had little use for Christianity, and many were strongly opposed to it. They were men of The Enlightenment, not men of Christianity. They were Deists who did not believe the bible was true.

When the Founders wrote the nation's Constitution, they specified that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." (Article 6, section 3)   This provision was radical in its day-- giving equal citizenship to believers and non-believers alike. They wanted to ensure that no single religion could make the claim of being the official, national religion, such as England had. Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention religion, except in exclusionary terms. The words "Jesus Christ, Christianity, Bible, and God" are never mentioned in the Constitution-- not once.

Most of the Founders were Deists, which is to say they thought the universe had a creator, but that he does not concern himself with the daily lives of humans, and does not directly communicate with humans, either by revelation or by sacred books. They spoke often of God, (Nature's God or the God of Nature), but this was not the God of the bible. They did not deny that there was a person called Jesus, and praised him for his benevolent teachings, but they flatly denied his divinity. Some people speculate that if Charles Darwin had lived a century earlier, the Founding Fathers would have had a basis for accepting naturalistic origins of life, and they would have been atheists. Most of them were stoutly opposed to the bible, and the teachings of Christianity in particular.

    " As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed?"

The third president of the United States was Thomas Jefferson. He had been the author of the Declaration of Independence . He Wrote:

      "I have recently been examining all the known superstitions of the world, and do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology."
      .We discover in the gospels a groundwork of vulgar ignorance, of things impossible, of superstition, fanaticism and fabrication ."

    George Washington  was a Deist like his colleagues. He was a Freemason. "His mention of Christianity was limited and superficial because he was not himself a Christian....

If the Christian Right Extremists wish to return this country to its beginnings, so be it... because it was a climate of Freethought. The Founders were students of the European Enlightenment. Half a century after the establishment of the United States, clergymen complained that no president up to that date had been a Christian.

The Founding Fathers would turn in their graves if the Christian Extremists had their way with this country.

This is a terrible tragedy that we will know more about in the coming days. For now, our focus needs to be in praying for the wounded soldiers and their families,"

My thoughts and prayers are also with the families and friends of those who have been killed.

Our dedicated military men and women have sacrificed so much in service to our country, and it sickens me that the men and women of Fort Hood have been subjected to this senseless, random violence.

Here is one of the victims that needs your prayers

Army Reserve Spc. Keara Bono's family was working up to the idea of her going to Iraq.

Bono, 21, a 2006 graduate of Olathe South High School, Kansas was one of the people wounded Thursday at the Fort Hood military base in Texas. Bono called and told her mother that yes, she was one of the shooting victims, hit in the back. She had also suffered abrasions on her face.

Is Major Hasan a Terroist?

I certainly Don't know... But do you?

Every source says it is not something that has yet to be ruled out But at this time NOTHING points to terrorism.........

Here is my question

If when this hit the news It had been announced

" Major John Silverstein" Baptist Church member,  goes on shooting rampage killing 12 and injuring 30"

would he have been called a Terrorist as he was on this site within 5 minutes of the announcement of his name....... OR ... would he be called a Murderer..........

Even now after watching the news it appears he became extremely angry over Not wanting to be sent to Iraq and that he is Protesting the war...

Am I upset this man murdered men and women... Of course I am.... just as I am upset over not just every mass murder but all murders of such ungodly magnitude.....

and most especially this murder of our armed forces being readied for deployment to Iraq.....

People are murdered everyday in America.. mass murders have happened many times in our society..

Does that make these murderers "terrorists"? Semantically ...yes...

But where is the indignation of these people screaming "terrorist" against all the other mass murderers in our Country?

Where is the post calling for the torture and murder of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell who murdered (terrorized) the 11 women found in his home in Ohio this week?.....

Or do the lives of those 11 women mean less because they were not military? or could it be because his name is not Nidal Malik Hasan a Muslim....?

For Now I will definately call him a pathetic Sick Lone Nutjob........ I'll wait until the facts and the jury are in before I scream "Terroist"

FOR NOW I WILL PRAY for healing for the wounded and for the families of the dead................

Update...Shooter at Fort Hood ALIVE only injured......

Army Captain Nidal Malik Hasan is alive and in stable condition...

The alleged shooter is hospitalized and expected to live....

At this time there is no reason to believethat he was a part of a group of terroists

it seems the gunman may have acted alone in this devastating rampage.

May we continue to pray for the injured and the families of those killed and injured..........
