Wake County Public School System Preliminary North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) and End-of-Course (EOC) test scores for 2009-10 show improvement in virtually every subgroup of students in the Wake County Public School System, and also show a closing of the achievement gaps between white, African-American, Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students at several grade levels. Additionally, 85 percent of students taking EOC tests passed those exams.

wake county: Raleigh/Durham in Top 10 2009 Best Performing Cities - 11/18/09 05:27 AM
The Milken Institute has released its list of the 2009 Best Performing Cities and both Durham and Raleigh-Cary made the Top 10! Durham is up from number 21 in 2008 to number 6 in 2009 while Raleigh-Cary dropped from number 2 in 2008 to number 10 in 2009.

wake county: Raleigh: Fix Housing First - Proposed Home Buyer Tax Credit - 01/22/09 04:12 AM
For those of you considering a home purchase over the new few months, you might be interested in this proposed stimulus package. It differs greatly from the first time buyer tax credit.
 The National Association of Homebuilders has representatives in Washington DC pressing for passage of a proposed bill, "Fix Housing First".  Here are two summary points to their proposal:
 (1)  The federal government would offer a tax credit of between $10,000 and $22,000 (depending on locale) to anyone closing on the purchase of a home, new or resale, by December 31, 2009.  The credit would not have to be … (0 comments)
