The economists at CoreLogic recently released a special report entitled, Evaluating the Housing Market Since the Great Recession. The goal of the report was to look at economic recovery since the Great Recession of December 2007 through June 2009. One of the key indicators used in the report to determine the health of the housing market was home price appreciation. CoreLogic focused on appreciation from December 2012 to December 2017 to show how prices over the last five years have fared. As discussed, if a range from $618,000 to $1M on various online sites does not seem like a gamble, by all means use them. Of course it is preferable to put your biggest asset in the hands of a professional. Just be cautious and take their data with a grain of salt so to speak.

Santa Clara Valley Home Sales Highest Since 2007 Home sales increased, year-over-year, by 10.9% in May. This is the eleventh month in a row homes sales have been up compared to the year before. The 984 homes sold were the most since May 2007 when there were 1,022 homes sold. Year-to-date, home sales are up 26.7%.The median price for single-family, re-sale homes rose 4.5% in May from April.
