We Had a Great Time! Choctaw Ball 2009 - 01/11/09 10:39 PM
I promised to come back today with photos from last night's Krewe of Choctaw Annual Pow Wow.  What a night! 
We spent the day decorating tables, meeting caterers and getting dolled up for the big night. 


With over 400 people in attendance, the Pow Wow was a resounding success.  The evening opened with the posting of the colors by the Helen Cox JROTC Color Guard and the singing of the National Anthem.

One by one, the court from 2008 was honored.

Believe it or not, the official Mardi Gras season of 2009 has begun.
Tonight, we will be at Mardi Gras World in Algiers for the Krewe of Choctaw's Annual Big Pow-Wow (ball). I can't wait to see all of the beautiful costumes finally completed - I have big expectations for quite a show from the bits and pieces that I've picked up over the year.

Connecting with other real estate professionals on Twitter is fun.  We get to know each other a little better and build our network, all in 140 characters or less.
But, to me, the real benefit of using Twitter is connecting with people locally.  Making new friends that know the neighborhoods, the customs and traditions.  One evening there was a big discussion about the improprieties of eating king cake before King's Day.  We take our food very seriously here.  It's a local thing.  Those are the kind of connections that are most meaningful to me in a city that is still rebuilding … (20 comments)

Thank goodness we can finally close the books on 2008 and say that we made it through with only a few bumps and bruises. It was a rough year for the real estate market all across the country. Despite the bad news coming at you from all of the national media, home sales on the West Bank did not suffer nearly as much as many other communities in places like Florida, California and Arizona.
