Here we are, mid way through September and well on our way to the end of 2008.  There has been a lot of turmoil in the last few weeks, what with evacuations for Hurricane Gustav, coastal flooding with Ike and recent not-so-good economic news.  Hopefully, life is getting back to normal for everyone and we make it through the end of the year with no more major disruptions!

As we close the calendar on 2007 and enter a new year, take a look back at the historical trends for home sales in Harvey and Marrero, LA. Harvey and Marrero East of Barataria Blvd.428 homes were sold in 2007, a decrease of over 44% from the number of homes sold in 2006. West Bank market update for Westwego
October sales volume (number of single family homes sold) has declined from the 2006 level of 10 homes sold to 6 homes sold in October of 2007, a 40% decline in the total number of homes sold during the month.
The number of homes sales remained steady at 6 homes sold per month in September 2007 and  October 2007.

The question on everyone's lips these days seems to be "How's the market?" 
In compiling the following information on the West Bank real estate market, I noted the following information:
The number of under contract listings (those scheduled to close) is significantly higher than the number closed in September, indicating an increase in buying activityThe average sales price in Algiers increased from August to SeptemberThe average sales price in Harvey/Marrero/Westwego remains steadyThe average sales price in Belle Chasse, Gretna and Terrytown decreased from August to September
