Port Orange Real Estate: 1st Quarter Listings and Sales Report - 03/31/09 01:34 AM
I'm a few days early to be starting the first quarter real estate reports for Volusia County for 2009, but due to the improving market in most Volusia County cities, I wanted to go ahead and get started with the Port Orange real estate statistics. Being that a large portion of my real estate sales are listed and sold in Port Orange, I decided to start there, for my 1st Quarter Listings and Sales Review for 2009. And I've tried a different method of calculating the data this time. The first chart provides greater detail, and a better overview of the (2 comments)
Unethical? Inconsiderate? With Web 2.0 & Blogging, The REALTOR® Code of Ethics Needs to Change - 03/29/09 05:59 AM
This post is probably preaching to the choir for most of our Active Rain members, and for that I am glad. I believe that 99.9% of the members here on Active Rain are great bloggers and a good fit, as I recently blogged in my post about the pieces of the Active Rain puzzle. But I just found a comment on one of my blogs that is a perfect indication of someone who is a piece of a different puzzle. I'm writing this blog post as an example for Active Rain newbies, and/or for those who are new to the world (150 comments)
Things to Do/Places to Visit. Localism Posts at Their Best! - 03/28/09 03:53 AM
It's been a while since I wrote a post featuring some of our recently featured posts in the Things to Do/Places to Visit group. But in the last week, I've read a lot of really good posts in the group, with so much variety! And the photos that have been included in the posts are sometimes what take them from good to great. If you write posts for Localism that feature things to do either in your area, or in an area you've visited, you might want to join the Things to Do/Places to Visit group. Just keep in mind, any (13 comments)
Countdown to Earth Hour: Join this Global Event - 03/27/09 06:27 AM
An historic event is quickly arriving. And World Wildlife Fund needs our involvement. It's time to not just talk-the-talk. It's time to walk-the-walk. Many of us express our concerns for the planet... I won't even begin to address every element of concern as we slowly lose the health of our planet. But I will do my part when I can. And right now, this is something I can do. I can help spread the word about a global event that is about to take place. On March 28 at 8:30 p.m. (Your own time zone!) Turn off your lights! Are You Properly Plugged In? Real Estate and Social Networking Groups - 03/25/09 10:49 PM
So many of us have widgets in our blog side bars that show the many social networking groups in which we've joined. But do we really use all those groups? I'll be the first to admit that I do not. The one I use most frequently is Facebook, and that's just because I kick butt in the Pirates: Rule the Caribbean plug-in. (Anyone want to join my crew? Arrr Mateys!) OK. So this is not going to be a deep, philosophical post about why we should be doing more online social networking. I'm going to keep it simple. So here it (8 comments)
Move to Daytona Beach. Enjoy our Theater Productions. - 03/23/09 06:12 PM
If you're a Daytona Beach area resident, or if you're interested in buying real estate in Daytona Beach... unless you've already lived here long enough to discover it's many hidden secrets, you're probably unaware of The Daytona Playhouse. The Daytona Playhouse is a small theater located at 100 Jessamine Blvd., Daytona Beach FL. By it's own proclamation, The Daytona Playhouse is "The Best Entertainment Value in Town". Just check out their ticket prices if you need proof. And then choose an afternoon or evening this week to enjoy their production of "Deathtrap". Show dates and times are as follows... This blog post is addressed to both real estate professionals, and real estate consumers. I hope it answers questions, brings enlightenment, and causes everyone to really think about the direction the real estate industry is taking, and how our current actions are directing that future. Yesterday I blogged about the huge difference in the types of questions being asked on Trulia now, as opposed to those that were asked in the past, and I included examples in that post. To be honest, I'm suspicious of these new questions, although I have given some partial answers. But as REALTORS®, I believe (5 comments)
Trulia Real Estate Questions: Is This the New Floor Call? - 03/20/09 02:00 AM
I have a question about the Trulia real estate questions, for other REALTORS® and real estate professionals. First of all, many of us have been answering real estate questions on Trulia for a long time. And the questions have primarily been for the benefit of real estate buyers and sellers who didn't understand the real estate process. But lately, the questions have been different. A little while ago, I read a post by Richard Weisser, a REALTOR® in Georgia, who wrote a rant post, questioning How is it possible that real estate buyers still do not understand agency? Unfortunately, he marked (10 comments)
A few days ago, John Zolsky wrote a post titled If I Were John Rockefeller... On that post, I left a long comment, asking for an opinion, agent-to-agent, since I knew that both of us had knowledge of the pre-construction condo markets' collapse here in the Daytona Beach area, that occurred after the boom years that lasted through 2005. (Refer to the chart for full real estate sales in each city, or read my original blog titled "Daytona Beach area Real Estate Sales Report for 2000-2008".) In response to my comment, John replied with a very thoughtful response that indicated (5 comments)
Looking to live in a fabulous gated community in Port Orange FL? This house is beyond perfect! A couple of weeks ago, I added a couple of blog posts about this beautiful 4 bedroom, 3 bath lakefront house with pool and covered lanai, and a full in-law apartment with complete privacy. This quality-built home is concrete block construction with safe room by the Johnson Group. The day after my blog about this fabulous house, I followed up that post with one about the fantastic sellers, and a bit of history about the house. Now this blog post is to share with (9 comments)
300,000+ Pieces of the Active Rain Puzzle - 03/13/09 09:57 PM
Fellow Rainers, this blog's for you. Yes, it's for you. I know, I know. You're probably wondering how a post about my 300,000+ points could possibly be about you. But it is! Bear with me and let me paint a picture for you. To reach 300,000 points, I've obviously written a lot of blog posts, and made a lot of comments. I've even won a couple of contests. But the snapshots of our history pages are what really tell the story of our time spent here. It could be viewed as pieces of a puzzle. To elaborate on this theory, (43 comments)
Short Sales and Foreclosures - 03/10/09 12:36 AM
I was just reading a blog post by a REALTOR® who has a listing that is a short sale property. This agent was upset with a buyers' agent who had submitted an offer on the short sale listing, and was now complaining about the lack of response from the bank, and the banks' refusal to sign the standard real estate forms that real estate agents' are generally required to include with every offer. It was the opinion of this listing agent that the buyers' agent was lazy and just didn't want to "work hard for a living". I beg to differ! (21 comments)
Deflation Nation: How to Be A Seller When No One Wants to Buy - 03/09/09 10:28 PM
I'm in the process of writing a blog on Short Sales and Foreclosures. But I saved it in "Draft" mode so I could take some time to think for a bit. I do that quite frequently. I have to kind of let the thoughts run through the process in my mind before I can continue. So while my Short Sales and Foreclosures post is still "processing", I decided to read some other blog posts by some of my favorite bloggers. And I found the following post by Janet Guilbault. Rather than reinvent the wheel, I decided to just "re-blog" Janets' post (3 comments)
