broker: Port Orange issues new light law - 05/12/08 03:02 AM
Recently, some Port Orange neighbors had a feud over a 1,000 watt light bulb that was shining from one house, onto the other. As usual, not all neighbors can get along. And in this case a feud between nieghbors over a bright light, resulted in a change in the rules regarding how bright, outdoor louds are allowed to be. This new rule was added to the city's Nuisance Ordinance. It basically allows for safety lights, but not nuisance lights. So you're not allowed to decide you dislike your neighbor, and install excessively bright lights that shine directly on neighbor's house. Yeah,

broker: Let's Play The Real Estate and Mortgage Blame Game - 11/26/07 09:17 PM
We all know real estate is cyclical. It always has been. It always will be. So why does everyone seem so surprised that the market is down? And why are we so quick to forget the old adage "If we don't learn from history, then history is bound to repeat itself"? This may be the first time you've experienced real estate-related negatives, but it's definitely not the first time it's happened. And unless you've been living in a cave, you knew that. But this post is not about the real estate and mortgage market problems. This post is about finger-pointers, whiners

broker: Just One Reason to Buy in Ormond Beach Florida - 09/23/07 08:28 PM
From now until November 4, 2007, you might want to visit the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens and view their "Birds With An Attitude" exhibit. There are several featured artists, each with their own unique style and a range of mediums consisting of wood, wire, tile and paint. There's something for everyone in this exhibit. If your tastes are cubist and geometric, you'll enjoy the works of Bernard Goldstein. If you like bold and tenacious, lithographs, drawings and oils in vivid color, Rick Raschke's pieces are a must-see. For more realistic work, you'll love David Monaco's wood-chiseled, life-size contribution.

broker: Why should you buy real estate in Daytona Beach? - 09/14/07 09:15 PM
There are many great reasons to buy real estate in Daytona Beach and I've written many articles extolling the virtues of living in Daytona Beach Florida. I thought I'd write this post from the perspective of someone (me) who has lived here their whole life. Daytona Beach holds many things for children and families to do. Of course, one of the most popular areas for fun activity is the beach. You can build sand castles on our white sandy beaches, or play in the surf of our warm ocean water. And don't forget you can drive on Daytona Beach as long

broker: Memories of Ponce Inlet Florida-The Grand Old Lighthouse - 09/02/07 09:05 PM
As I've stated in previous posts, I'm a native of the Daytona Beach area, and am knowledgeable about many fascinating historical facts. But I still enjoy researching and sharing the new things I learn. In a recent post, I was sharing some childhood memories of the time my family spent in Tomoka State Park, in Ormond Beach. As I let my mind wander to other pleasant memories of my childhood, I found fond memories of the lighthouse and park at Ponce Inlet. The best part about these memories are not just of my own childhood, but from a parental perspective as

broker: Buy a Condo in Port Orange Florida - The Meadows at Countryside - 08/29/07 10:07 PM
This post will almost finalize my series on the communities in Countryside, located in Port Orange Florida. For a quick re-cap, Countryside is an upscale development that consists of several smaller communities within the large one. Residents of each of these smaller communities have access to the Countryside pool, clubhouse, tennis courts, lakes and common areas. In this post, I'll briefly describe The Meadows. The Meadows is the only section of Countryside that is maintenance-free. It consists of town houses and duplexes... well; actually they’re more like quads. Each of these little groups of homes are immaculately kept by the association itself.
