I can't remember the last time a bit of news got me this excited. (I'll bet Vegas Bob is jumping up and down right now!)
If you haven't read about the most recently found planet in the "Goldilocks Zone", you have to check out this article... "Could Goldilocks Planet Be Just Right for Life?" What got me the most excited was this one quote- "...because conditions are ideal for liquid water, and because there always seems to be life on Earth where there is water, Vogt believes that chances for life on this planet are 100 percent."

No, of course not. It's just a Snowy Egret :-D My brother took this photo. And I think he did a great job on this one (except for the date stamp), so I decided to share it. (This is from the bro who took those crazy weather shots over the ocean!) But this one's much more peaceful. And this little guy doesn't seem to mind if his feathers are getting ruffled.

I stumbled across this old video a few days ago, and set it aside for today =D Yes I sped the video up a bit... have to keep things interesting ;-) Anyway, I bought some new decor for the walls in my office, and had some trouble getting everything to look balanced =/ Then I got this totally unrelated phone call... As most of you know, for quite some time I've been blogging about the condo conversion project I have listed, Surfside Villas in Daytona Beach. I originally listed these beautifully remodeled condos "For Sale", but with the real estate market moving at the speed of sludge, the seller decided to lease the units while waiting for them to sell.

For those of you who are interested in the recent condo and housing activity for Daytona Beach Florida, here are a few statistics. Also, the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors covers Ormond by the Sea, Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Port Orange, South Daytona, Wilbur by the Sea and Ponce Inlet.
1329 listings were entered into the MLS in August. Although some of these are brand new listings, many of these are houses and condos that were previously listed and did not sell. (844 listings were withdrawn from the MLS and 781 listings expired in August.)

I am proud to be posting this information about Volusia County, Florida.
For anyone who's concerned about our atmosphere, which should be everyone, I have some great news for those who live in Volusia County, Florida. Until now, residents of unincorporated areas of Volusia County were only able to recycle items coded 1 and 2. Now, they'll be able to recycle items coded 1 through 7.
This may sound strange to residents who live within the incorporated areas, but prior to July 1, 2007, the unincorporated areas were unable to recycle their margarine tubs, cottage cheese tubs, sour cream containers, yogurt cups, … (6 comments)

In July of 2005, Daytona Beach area pre-construction condo sales hit a record high, according to the Florida Association of Realtors. And one year ago, 2 dozen condominium complexes were under construction in Volusia and Flagler counties, while at the present time, 16 of them are in various stages of completion.
According to Daytona Beach city planners and developers, only a handful of new condos projects will be launched in 2008, as investors are reluctant to risk further millions of dollars, while new sales lag, and growing numbers of condo buyers are forfeiting their existing contracts.

I have to share this story of how a sale that got way off track, a few years ago, due to an appraisal problem on a house I sold in Port Orange FL.
It started with the Port Orange listing I had for a family I have known for many years. The buyer for their house was someone who went to church with them. After many twists and turns in her financing, she was finally able to close.
