insurance: How will you avoid foreclosure? - 01/12/08 08:14 PM
Desperate times call for desperate measures and we are certainly in desperate times, with many people facing foreclosure in the real estate industry, but at some point you have to draw the line.  I just read some alarming news on The Daily Green and on CNN. These are how you should NOT try to avoid foreclosure!
Apparently a woman in Indiana "allegedly" offered to pay one of her neighbors $5000 to help her burn down her home, to avoid foreclosure, then collect $80,000 in insurance. Can you say "fraud"? Is it just me or does foreclosure sound better than jail time?

The glamorous life of a REALTOR®. On come on. You know our lives are glamorous. Let's face it. All we real estate agents do is drive around in our SUVs with our magnetic riders on the sides, or in my case, my stenciled name, cell phone number, brokerage and web site across the back window, and show people houses, then show up for closing. We can't possibly do anything else, right? If we had to actually work, there would be no reason for so many people to resent our choice of career, right?

insurance: Florida Real Estate Taxes or Insurance? Which is the bigger issue? - 10/05/07 01:27 PM
I was just reading a comment on one of my recent posts about Florida's huge property tax problem. The comment was from Katrina Madewell regarding our property insurance issue. Katrina mentioned that the focus had shifted from insurance, to the taxes.
I personally believe that whether real estate taxes or real estate insurance is the bigger issue, is determined by what area of the state you live in. Katrina is a REALTOR® on the west coast of Florida, while I'm a REALTOR® on the east coast. In the Daytona Beach area, most REALTORS® and buyers will tell you it's the property … (6 comments)
