lighthouse: FUNtastic Events next week in Ponce Inlet Florida! - 07/18/08 01:24 AM
Coming up next week, July 21-25, 2008, children in grades 4 through 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. can enjoy the Marine Explorer Camp at the Ponce Inlet Marine Science Center. This is going to be a fun-filled week of snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, boating and more. I'm not sure if there are any last minute spaces available, so don't hesitate if you're planning to register your children, grades 4-6, in next week's Marine Explorer Camp. Not only will this be fun, but the children will be learning about Volusia County’s wildlife, habitats, and the importance of preserving our natural

lighthouse: Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Demonstrations - 07/10/08 11:35 AM
In continuing with my series of posts about things to do in Volusia County, this post is about the fabulous Ponce Inlet Lighthouse! I've actually blogged about this amazing light house before in my post titled "Memories of Ponce Inlet Florida-The Grand Old Lighthouse". Did you know the Ponce Inlet lighthouse is the 2nd tallest lighthouse in the United States? And if you want to climb to the top, there are 194 stairs! Well, tomorrow is your opportunity to test your stair-stepping abilities. But if you can't make it tomorrow, you won't have an excuse, because you'll have another opportunity on

lighthouse: Turtle Day and A Rehabilitated Sea Turtle, Finally Ready for Freedom! - 04/18/08 12:37 AM
Real estate buyers, sellers and owners in Volusia County, if you're not familiar with the Daytona Beach area, more specifically the town of Ponce Inlet which is just south of Daytona Beach, you may find lots of interesting facts in this post and in the embedded links. I've previously posted articles about the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet, FL, and their program for rehabilitating and releasing washback green sea turtles. Other Ponce Inlet posts included how to Adopt a Sea Turtle Nest to preserve the baby sea turtles during nesting seasons. In that particular post are links to information on

lighthouse: Volusia County Area Photos - 04/12/08 07:09 PM
Whether you're already a resident of Volusia county, or if you're considering a move to this beautiful area, I think you'll enjoy the photo slide show below. These are pictures I've been accumulating for quite some time. As a REALTOR , it's customary to have my camera with me at all times, since I never know when a real estate seller will call me and ask me to come take a look at their house. And of course, I like to have plenty of photos to e-mail to potential real estate buyers. These unique and random photos are from all over Volusia

Daytona Beach residents, visitors and those who may be looking to buy real estate here, as long as you're here, why not try something slightly different and off the beaten path? If you're a fan of the arts, or looking for a bit of culture, tomorrow is the last day to see "Ruthless" at the Daytona Playhouse. "Ruthless" is a spoof on Broadway, with lots of plot twists as you watch the story unfold of exactly how far an 8 year old with go to play the lead in the school play! lighthouse: Ponce Inlet participates in Florida Heritage Month! - 03/22/08 01:29 AM
Did you know March 15 through April 15 is Florida Heritage month? I only recently found out, and I'm a 4th generation Florida native, born in Daytona Beach, just a few short miles from Ponce Inlet. There's even a FHM Commemorative Poster. Ponce Inlet Florida hosts a lot of local events, since there are so many fantastic public gathering places there. People who have bought real estate in Ponce Inlet are the biggest advocates of how wonderful it is to live there! But I digress. This post is to encourage everyone to attend Florida Heritage Day this Saturday, March 22, 2008,

lighthouse: Memories of Ponce Inlet Florida-The Grand Old Lighthouse - 09/02/07 09:05 PM
As I've stated in previous posts, I'm a native of the Daytona Beach area, and am knowledgeable about many fascinating historical facts. But I still enjoy researching and sharing the new things I learn. In a recent post, I was sharing some childhood memories of the time my family spent in Tomoka State Park, in Ormond Beach. As I let my mind wander to other pleasant memories of my childhood, I found fond memories of the lighthouse and park at Ponce Inlet. The best part about these memories are not just of my own childhood, but from a parental perspective as
