protecting sea turtles: Saving the Sea Turtles - 05/11/10 12:12 AM
Saving the Sea Turtles is a topic on which I've blogged before, but since I was just cleaning up one of my old YouTube channels, I ran across this old video on the subject when I found a new comment on it. So I decided it was time to post a little reminder about the precarious balance of nature, and the need to protect it. In the embedded video, I discuss a program we have here in Ponce Inlet Florida, where you can actually adopt a Sea Turtle nest, and physically mark the nest you've adopted, and are helping to protect.

protecting sea turtles: Driving on Daytona Beach part 2 (Beach Conservation) - 08/06/07 09:57 PM
Yesterday I posted a blog about driving on Daytona Beach. Daytona Beach is one of the few cities that allows this privilege. I see it as one more benefit to buying real estate here. But I'm addressing this subject again, to elaborate on the responsibilities that come with this privilege. In 1973, the Endangered Species Act (also known as the Habitat Conservation Plan or HCP) was passed, which prohibits activities that threaten or endanger any endangered species. Since sea turtles come up onto our beaches and lay their eggs in the sand, this area falls under the protection of this act.
