real estate listings: Home Stagers and Real Estate Agents Helping Each Other - 07/20/10 05:01 AM
Last night I was reading a post by Ginger Faust titled "Sellers and Realtors: Staging Education, Part Seven, DRAMATIZE". Her post contained such wonderful before-and-after photos that I was considering printing the page, to use in my listing presentations for those listings that contain furnishings and decor that will actually hinder, or prevent the listing from selling. We've all had real estate listings like these. And it's always a problem when it comes to trying to tell a real estate seller that their house is too cluttered, too sparsely decorated, or that their furnishings are actually detracting from the home itself.

real estate listings: Keeping Track of Our Real Estate Listings, For the Benefit of our Sellers and Buyers - 06/25/10 03:07 AM
Last week I wrote a blog post that voiced my concern about the copyright violations that can occur with the pictures and/or photos we take for our real estate listings. In our MLS, there is no copyright protection, so I've begun watermarking my images. But based on your comments, I've discovered that in some areas, the opposite is the case. Some of you work in areas where your MLS prohibits the use of another REALTOR'S® real estate images. However, we know that there are many web sites that pick up our listings from our local MLS's, and others that pull them

real estate listings: How Do You Keep Your Real Estate Images Copyright Protected? - 06/17/10 10:18 PM
I'll start this post by stating that I am NOT a professional photographer. But I do go through great pains to get the best images I can for my real estate listings and sellers. That being said; if your Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is like ours, once an image is uploaded to a listing, you lose your copyright protection of those images (Just think about how many sites pickup our listings to help us sell them). And if you're anything like me, you may spend a LOT of time in Photoshop (or another photo editor), tweaking your real estate listing

real estate listings: Explaining Contingency Offers to Real Estate Sellers - 03/24/10 12:26 AM
With the market being as slow as it is, some real estate sellers may be desperate enough to consider purchase offers that are contingent on other sales. Unfortunately, this consideration sometimes stems from the misconception that their listing will still be readily available to potential buyers. But this is simply not the case! As the listing agent of quite a few houses, condos, manufactured homes and vacant parcels, when another agent brings me an offer on one of my listings, with a contingency attached that involves the sale of another house, condo, manufactured home or piece of vacant land, I can

real estate listings: Real Estate Listings on other web sites. Who controls the data? - 07/12/08 02:07 AM
This is such an overly discussed topic that I'm reluctant to bring it up again; but I'm concerned with what I'm finding on other real estate sites, about the houses and condos that I've listed. I was recently reading a post by Brian Brady about Zillow's new program that allows their advertisers to have their face and links show up at the top of their real estate pages, while Trulia is penalizing their advertisers by inserting the "no-follow" code into their advertiser's links. So I clicked Brian's link and sure enough, his face is at the top of every page I

real estate listings: How Much Is Your Real Estate Listing Withdrawal Fee? - 12/03/07 10:31 PM
As a REALTORĀ® who keeps a steady stream of listings flowing through my business, I'm confident in my abilities, my track record and my expertise. I have many satisfied clients who can attest to my success. It's from that P.O.V. (point of view for the non-techies :P) that I'm writing this post. I was just reading a post by Jim Crawford, which was a cute little story about a Real Estate Listing Agent that was apparently fed up with a seller who couldn't understand why their property wasn't selling. So of course it must be the fault of the listing agent.
