real estate: Real Estate Video for Beautiful 3 bed, 2 bath pool home in Central Florida - 06/12/08 11:15 PM
Most of you know that I create full video tours for my real estate listings if at all possible, and have been doing so for about two years now. I've never been a fan of virtual tours because of the distortion factor, and could never understand why REALTORS® weren't just video taping their listings. Two years ago, the only place to host the videos was on You Tube (hardly the most professional platform). But now, we have a plethora of choices of professional real estate video hosting sites.
I have to admit, this particular video should have been done weeks ago. … (7 comments)

real estate: Congratulations to Me. 200,000 points and counting! - 06/09/08 03:58 PM
This is a silly, lighthearted post. My comments today just pushed my points beyond 200,000. And my last post was my 400th. So here are my official stats...

BTW, I found this cool, freeware tool for screen captures like this. Follow the link to get yours. This is one of the most simplistic pieces of software I've ever seen, but it's not like I needed something fancy for a screen shot.

One thing I'd like to point out about my stats. I have way more comments than I do posts. It's a way of paying it forward. We should … (19 comments)

real estate: REALTORS® on Wikipedia.... and in other countries? - 06/09/08 12:23 AM
I'm just going to get this post started with the opening topic. This is a question for my REALTOR® Associates, regarding the use of the word REALTOR® in other countries. We all know that the word "REALTOR®" can legally only be used to describe a real estate agent who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and subscribes to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. Most REALTORS® also know, but are just too lazy to print the word in it's proper form, as I've done in this post. (REALTOR®)
Now since it's very likely that there are members of … (3 comments)

real estate: Strange REALTOR® Experiences - 05/31/08 03:42 PM
As a REALTOR®, I've encountered many strange things over the years. I'm sure I'm only going to only scratch the surface in this post, but I thought I'd share a few things memorable experiences.
The filthiest house I've ever seen: This one was very early on in my career. I scheduled an appointment to show a listing, and when I showed up with my buyers, I couldn't believe the condition of that house. The owner opened the door to let us in, and we couldn't even walk on the floor since the floor could not be seen. It was completely covered … (14 comments)

real estate: Move to Port Orange? I've Found Another Great Reason! - 05/26/08 07:42 PM
I never have to look very far to find something great about Port Orange, which is why so many people choose to buy real estate here. But yesterday, we gained another fantastic reason for people to move to Port Orange FL.
This weekend was graduation weekend for high school seniors all over Volusia county. My daughter was one of those graduating seniors.
Oblige me with a brief history of my daughter's school years in Port Orange. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that I'm a Daytona Beach native. You probably also know that the Daytona Beach … (11 comments)

real estate: Helping Those Who Can't Help Themselves - 05/24/08 04:44 PM
In Daytona Beach FL and the surrounding cities of east Volusia county, we have a wonderful charity that helps feed those who can't feed themselves. As a REALTOR®, I'm used to working with people who are interested in buying real estate, and have not only managed to feed themselves and their families, but have mangaged to save enough extra money for a down payment for the mortgage on a new home, or have built up enough equity in their current home, to use as a down payment on their next one.
But according to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central … (4 comments)

real estate: Real Estate Sellers- What is Your REALTOR® Doing For You? - 05/24/08 07:44 AM
In this difficult buyers market, when every real estate listing has all the odds stacked against it, and slim chance of selling quickly, it's more important than ever that REALTORS® do their jobs to the best of their abilities.
I was recently reading a blog post by Susie Blackmon about a house that had been on the market over a year. As most of you know, in a buyer's market, having a listing on the market for over a year is not anything out of the ordinary. In the Daytona Beach area, we have over 2 years of inventory on the … (5 comments)

real estate: Another Great Reason to Buy Real Estate in Port Orange FL! - 05/16/08 09:07 PM

Home buyers who are thinking about moving to Daytona Beach, make sure you don't overlook the beautiful city of Port Orange, just 7 miles south of Daytona. I'm a Daytona Beach native, I've sold real estate in every city in Volusia county, and I personally live in Port Orange.
One of the best things about Port Orange is the City Center. I've written several posts about events happening at the Port Orange City Center. The event that most locals are familiar with doesn't happen until October, called Port Orange Family Days. So you'll have to wait a few more months … (1 comments)

real estate: Good News for your Daytona Beach Seaside Music Theater withdrawals - 05/16/08 06:59 PM
A few days ago I had to report some bad news about Daytona Beach's Seaside Music Theater. It turns out that SMT had to cancel their entire summer season, after the Daytona Beach News Journal who has been the grand sponsor of the Theater for over 30 years, withdrew their support.
Well, it's not live theater, but Cinematique Films, at The Book Store, located at 410 S. Nova Rd. in Ormond Beach, is playing The Diving Bell and The Butterfly until June 20. Member prices are evenings, $6.00 and matinees $4.00. Non-member prices are $2.00 more. For more information, including films … (0 comments)

real estate: Daytona Beach FL: We're Into Scumbag Eradication! - 05/11/08 08:22 PM
This year, the Daytona Beach police explorers got creative in their fundraising. They decided to sell police caricature T-shirts, depicting our police officers as the "Scumbag Eradication Team".
This is great! LOL. And apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so. The police explorers originally only printed 300 of the T-shirts that say "Scumbag Eradication Team. Not in our Town!" Those 300 shirts all sold within 3 days. So another 250 were ordered, and again sold right away. I have no news on how long the program will continue.
The Explorer team, and now the accompanying T-shirts serve the purpose … (8 comments)

real estate: Port Orange issues new light law - 05/11/08 08:02 PM
Recently, some Port Orange neighbors had a feud over a 1,000 watt light bulb that was shining from one house, onto the other.
As usual, not all neighbors can get along. And in this case a feud between nieghbors over a bright light, resulted in a change in the rules regarding how bright, outdoor louds are allowed to be. This new rule was added to the city's Nuisance Ordinance. It basically allows for safety lights, but not nuisance lights. So you're not allowed to decide you dislike your neighbor, and install excessively bright lights that shine directly on neighbor's house.
Yeah, … (2 comments)

real estate: Daytona Beach Upcoming Theater Event, May 9-18, 2008 - 05/07/08 03:46 PM

For those of you in the Daytona Beach area who enjoy theater, and would enjoy an inexpensive way to spend an afternoon or evening, you should familiarize yourself with the Daytona Playhouse.
This month; May 9-18, 2008 The Daytona Playhouse presents "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife". I read the description on the Playhouse web site and it looks like a lively and fun presentation =)

real estate: Real Estate Agents and Mortgage Brokers: How to be professional, outside your field of expertise - 05/05/08 05:26 PM
Real estate buyers and sellers, please allow me to vent my frustrations with our current real estate market. I invite you to read along and hopefully, get an inside look at some of the problems that are contributing to today's real estate market conditions.
I was just reading a post by Richard Zaretsky titled "Back to Basics-A Review on Short Sales". His post is chock full of more information than I can digest in one sitting. I bookmarked it for future reference. I also sent a link to one of my clients who is facing eminent foreclosure if we can't get … (4 comments)
