Happy Spring! Here we are in the Midwest, Chicago area, ready to enjoy spring, dust off the bikes, start taking walks outside and what do we get-6 inches of snow today!! Our office was just starting to get a few more showings and people were just starting to start thinking "new Home" again. This winter has been so long with so much snow, colder temps, flooding, and just horrible driving conditions that I think it has really impacted the real estate market. The weather coupled with the interest rates coupled with the price of gas has created what I like to call it "the perfect storm". I think we all just need to brace ourselves, get back to the basics of prospecting, and get through this perfect storm. When the market turns around or stabilizes, the strong will survive and it will be a wonderful thing. Hang in there-spring is coming!!!
Just getting ready to go out and list another home in Union Il. Spacous 3 bedroom ranch on 6 acres with a full size open loft. Loft would be a perfect medial room and 4th bedroom. Full basement has garage access to 3 car+attached garage. New Outbuilding is for all your toys or livestock. Only 10 min to I90 creates the best of both worlds! $499,900. Watch my blog for photos or go to http://lisarossow.com/. Read on for more info on Union Il

I just wanted to take a moment to welcome Corey Brackmann of Marengo Il to our Company. Corey just joined our awesome team of agents at Century 21 New Heritage in Marengo coming from a competitor. Corey is a seasoned agent with about 5 years experience, but his biggest accomplishment is his other company Brackmann Development. Brackmann Development is a custom home builder with a great reputation in the McHenry & Kane County areas. We are glad to have Corey on our team. Give him a call if you need a great custom built home and or a lot to put one on!
Check his site for all the info!
I attended a class yesterday, part of a year long commitment, and the topic of the day was Fun at work. Some of you may be familiar with the Seattle Pikes Fish Market. Charter House learning has taken the Pike's Fish Market and turned it into a program called FISH. This program teaches managers/owners how to incorporate fun at the work place and how to make someones day. This program is also has developed a whole roll out and kick off meeting with work books and everything to use within your company. We did this at our company about 2 years ago and it was great. My class yesterday just reinforced to me importance of "having fun" at work really is-especially in the market. I highly recommend this progam to everyone-as a broker there is nothing better to help boost the moral in the office. Check this link for all the info FISH PROGRAM. Anyway, I just made a long story out of a way to have fun at work. The greatest invention is the Staples "easy button". This $5 piece of plastic has really help our office and myself have more fun at work. I think every realtor needs one to help them get through this market. "THAT WAS EASY!!!"
I always like to read about other agents successes to see if I can learn anything, so I thought I would share a success I had today. I just finished having an open house for the public on one of my listings in Hampshire Illinois. I usually have something open about once a month. For the last 4-5 open houses that I have had, I only had 1 or 2 parties come through, sometimes even none. To my amazement, today I had 11 parities come through! I even ran out of brochures for the last couple! I did take a poll of where they came from and here are the results. 5 came from signs, 5 from a print ad, and 1 from realtor.com. This was very unusual. Maybe print advertising isn't dead. I usually get a few from signs, a few from the Internet and none from print ads. Today the weather was above freezing for the first time in a while, so I decided to run an ad at the last minute. Even though I had 11 parties come through the home, no serious buyers. I guess people are just looking for something to do on a nice winter day. They were also all looking for a great deal-which this home is not. So I guess the moral of my story is that, open houses do attract lookers, some buyers, but mostly lookers. They are good to generate exposure for yourself as an agent, and maybe a listing or 2. If you have a good deal out there, it might be worth paying for a print ad in the newspaper. At least in the Chicago suburban market. Please share your open house successes -I always like to get new Ideas.
Not that this has much to do directly with Real Estate, but I found out about the most awesome website today that I thought I would share. www.gethuman.com This site will list the phone numbers at companies that give you an actual human bean to talk to. So if you get frustrated with all the computer voice transfers, give it a try! Anyone else have any other awesome sites, please post! Thanks
