Estes Park High School Marching Band takes 4th in State Finals! - 11/02/10 10:04 AM

On Monday, October 25, the Estes Park High School Marching Band was awarded the 4th Place Trophy in the Colorado Band Master’s Association State Championship event held at the Stoker Stadium in Grand Junction. The Bobcat Band performed “Music Of Howard Hanson”, featuring“Chorale And Alleluia,” “Romantic Symphony,” and “Hanson Finale.”
Director Chuck Varilek leads the band in these annual competitions sponsored by the Colorado Bandmaster’s Association. This organization exists to promote music education through participation and performance in band by providing events that reward musical excellence. As the mom of a 15 year old with Type 1 Diabetes, I'm constantly surrounded by the mis-information about this disease...so here's my contribution toward Diabetes Awareness month...
Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are vastly different: Type 1 diabetes is an auto immune reaction that destroys the beta cells in the pancreas, creating an insulin-dependant condition, where Type 2 Diabetes is an insulin resistant condition. A diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes usually happens in those under 20 years of age, hence the term “Juvenile Diabetes” but it is possible to have an onset of this condition … (5 comments)
