colorado: Longs Peak near Estes Park, Colorado - 10/15/10 11:03 AM
Greetings from Estes Park! I was scouting out a place for my three sons to pose for a shot for our calendar this year and found this view of Long's Peak through the fence...the calendar shot location is a bit farther down the road. We are lucky to be enjoying the fall colors this late in the season, I'm thinking when a low pressure system rolls through here at the beginning of next week that it will be all over!

colorado: Spooky Stanley Hotel in Estes Park - 04/22/10 03:18 PM
Greetings from Estes Park! We are having one of those spring weather patterns, that if it was a little bit colder, we would have 5 feet of snow on the ground. Fortunately, it's raining with those wispy clouds that hang on the mountainside. The Stanley Hotel is always a great subject for a photo, but I especially love the way it looks when its gray and spooky outside. Stephen King drove up to Estes Park years ago just after Trail Ridge Road had closed and the Stanley was packing it up for the winter...that inspired his book "The Shining". The movie

colorado: Sweet morning in Estes Park! - 01/25/10 05:35 PM
Greetings from Estes Park! I awoke to a nice surprise this morning...my 14 year old son had whipped up a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls and stashed the dough in the fridge to pop in the oven this morning! He is quite an accomplished baker, that kid. We have lots of very talented home chefs here in town, including Maggie Treadway, wife of the chili champion Barney...who auditioned for a spot in the upcoming Gordon Ramsay "masterchef" reality series, she's made it into the semi-finals! Not to mention the Belgian enginner with an accent and an attitude, Steven, and Big Bob,

colorado: Happy MLK Day from Estes Park! - 01/18/10 09:39 AM
Greetings from Estes Park! My son came home from school with an assignment to make a poster about themes relating to Martin Luther King, Jr., such as peace and equality. They had a march through the school hallways to demonstrate their committment to these issues. It was the sweetest thing to see...elementary school kids with their posters in the hallway promoting peace, love and equality for everyone. I was happy to be able to do an art project with Chase...he was the art director on this one, and i had big fun in Photoshop with some posterization and adjustment layer effects...

Greetings from Estes Park! The Blue Moon we experienced over New Year's was absolutely spectacular...it was so bright and blue outside with the new snow reflecting the moonlight! That inspired me to take some moonlight photos of my listings and i think this one turned out pretty nice... The house is pretty nice, too...a 7000 sq. ft. custom luxury home that had professional interior and furnishing design. The home, located in Rockwood Estates just outside Estes Park on the edge of national forest, has 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and a main level home office. The floor plan is perfect for entertaining

colorado: Mummy Range Sunrise in Estes Park - 01/03/10 10:47 AM
Greetings from Estes Park! We were awakened this morning by a soft sunrise with wispy clouds over Mummy Range...this photo is looking northwest from Estes Park straight over the mountain toward my friend, Mary Douglas, in Red Feather Lakes. I love seeing her photos of the same mountains from the opposite side! This view was especially amazing on New Year's Eve with the "Blue Moon"...it was so bright that my photos looked just like daylight. (that will be the next photo project...to figure out the twilight settings on this camera) Have a wonderful Sunday and get ready to go back at

colorado: New Year's Resolutions... - 12/31/09 10:58 AM
Greetings from Estes Park! OK, we've put it off long enough...you know, evaluating 2009, setting goals and making resolutions for 2010. While it is important to set goals that are specific and measurable, the most important thing is to JUST DO IT! That's right...take the first step, make forward progress, do something better today than you did yesterday. (like maybe a healthy breakfast) I'm betting that if we all can be a little better every day, that we can look back on our 2010 goals and resolutions and say, I DID IT! Have a wonderful, happy, healthy and productive 2010!

Greetings from Estes Park! Even with the wintry weather upon us, it's still a great time to put on those snow boots and take a hike here in Estes Park. (might even give you a jump start on a few of those New Year's resolutions...) We not only have great shopping and restaurants here in town, but the most spectacular backyard ever! Lily Lake, located south of Estes Park and north of Allenspark on HWY 7, is a wonderful place for a winter hike...with or without snowshoes. Parking is right off the highway and the trail is level around the small

colorado: The Yellow Mailbox sponsors "Santa Party" at the Good Samaritan Village in Estes Park - 12/23/09 10:18 AM
Happy Holidays from Estes Park! Every year, my company The Yellow Mailbox Real Estate Services, sponsors a Santa Party at the Good Samaritan Village in Estes Park for the assisted living residents. Every year has a theme...this year, director Carey Stevanus came up with the idea of miniature trees, decorations and chocolates. Local sponsors Ace Hardware, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Simply Christmas, Mountain Sage Inn and the Rocky Card helped to make it a huge success! My friends, Paul and Marilyn Saunders, came as Mr. and Mrs. Claus to pass out the gifts with my sons. Even the residents who claimed

colorado: Estes Park Cookie Madness - 12/21/09 11:15 PM
Greetings from Estes Park! It has become a tradition around our house (OK, it's MY tradition) to bake white chocolate chip/sun dried cranberry cookies for the holidays and pass them out to those near and dear to us. It started at the boys' elementary school the first year. Everyone loved them and requested them again. The list became a little longer the next year to include a few business friends, both Flash Electric and The Yellow Mailbox Real Estate. A few more cookies were needed the next year for helpers for my Good Samaritan Santa Party, then more customers, then relatives...

colorado: Estes Park's great location! - 12/13/09 05:02 PM
Greetings from Estes Park! One of the things I really love about Estes Park is our close proximity to the front range communities of Boulder, Ft. Collins and Denver. We are only a 1.5 hour drive to downtown Denver and the Pepsi Center, Invesco Field at Mile High, Coors Field, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex. Yesterday, AJ and I had the opportunity to play with the Denver Brass in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Atrium. The Denver Brass sponsors this event every year, and opens the performance up to all brass players, no matter what

colorado: Great Quote - 11/23/09 10:50 AM
Greetings from Estes Park! I just saw a great quote and thought I would share it with you...(kind of a glass half empty or glass half full sort of thing...) "BOTH OPTIMISTS AND PESSIMISTS CONTRIBUTE TO OUR SOCIETY. THE OPTIMIST INVENTS THE AIRPLANE, AND THE PESSIMIST - THE PARACHUTE." G.B. Stern.

colorado: Estes Park High School Marching Band Wins Bronze Medal in State Championships! - 11/03/09 09:35 AM
Greetings! It's been a busy fall here in Estes with school activities, fundraisers and family! I was proud to be a part of the Estes Park High School Marching Band's season this year. My son, AJ, is now a freshman trumpet player, now I'm a "Band Booster" secretary and "Pit Crew" member. The half time show this year was "Little Shop of Horrors" featuring our 45 member band, 2 drum majors and 3 flag corp members. We are the smallest of the 2A schools in Colorado with a competitive marching band, and for the last 14 years, director Chuck Varilek has
