estes park real estate: We're stuck in a Rut - 09/27/10 04:43 PM
Greetings from Estes Park...where getting stuck in a rut is a good thing! We are in the middle of the Elk Rut...when the bulls bugle and the females follow in herds. It really is a hauntingly beautiful sound and not at all what you would expect from such a majestic creature. The elk are enjoying the unseasonably warm Indian Summer weather as much as we are, this big guy in my backyard was pretty relaxed this morning...

estes park real estate: Estes Park Elementary Marble Run Day - 04/26/10 03:10 PM
Greetings from Estes Park!
Last Friday was the annual 5th Grade Marble Run Project day at the Estes Park Elementary School. This was our third project, and by my youngest son's estimation, by far the best!
Chase and his partner came up with the idea for a fan powered by a small electric motor with floppy blades made out of straws and foam. It has two possible failure holes in the circular pan, so the marble can potentially fall through twice per revolution, but doesn't really until the batteries are depleted. Then the marble makes its way down to the bottom … (0 comments)

estes park real estate: Go take a hike...in Estes Park, Colorado - 12/30/09 09:28 AM
Greetings from Estes Park!
Even with the wintry weather upon us, it's still a great time to put on those snow boots and take a hike here in Estes Park. (might even give you a jump start on a few of those New Year's resolutions...) We not only have great shopping and restaurants here in town, but the most spectacular backyard ever!
Lily Lake, located south of Estes Park and north of Allenspark on HWY 7, is a wonderful place for a winter hike...with or without snowshoes. Parking is right off the highway and the trail is level around the small … (4 comments)

estes park real estate: Estes Park Real Estate Rainbow - 12/08/09 03:09 PM
Greetings from Estes Park!
Here's the scoop on the new portion of the homebuyers' tax credit that applies to "Move Up Buyers"
The following rules apply for this tax credit: You need to have lived in your principal residence for 5 out of the last 8 years, you are purchasing a new principal residence, your income is less than $150,000 as and individual and $250,000 as a couple, and the house you are purchasing is less than $800,000. If someone meets these criteria they may be eligible for the $6500 tax credit. The deadline to qualify is that someone needs to … (1 comments)

estes park real estate: First time homebuyer success! - 05/02/09 10:38 AM
Greetings from Estes Park!
Last night I had the pleasure of attending a housewarming party for one of my first time homebuyer customers. There was a great mix of his mountaineering and music friends, along with his relatives, and everyone was so happy that he finally has a house of his own. We looked for two years for a suitable home in his price range. With interest rates being low and the first time homebuyer tax credit, he was able to afford a home that was perfect for him, that had been out of his price range before. It's nice when … (4 comments)

estes park real estate: Springtime in the Rockies! - 03/27/09 11:07 AM
Just about the time that thoughts turn to daffodils and tulips is about the same time it starts snowing in Estes Park. The best part is that the sun comes out again and it warms up to a picture postcard day. Spring skiing is close by, and all the resorts are having the best conditions of the season, just in time for the kids to have a few days off school to enjoy it! So, even though i describe "Springtime in the Rockies" as Mother Nature with PMS, days like this are one of the many reasons we love living here!

estes park real estate: YOU CAN BUY 10 YEAR AGO RIGHT NOW!!! - 03/02/09 10:48 AM
Greetings from Estes Park!
One of the things we encounter in real estate is the thought that "I wish I would have bought that property 10 years ago!" The price was great, interest rates were better and now it would be worth that much more. Wishful thinking in a typical market, however...
George Harvey is a friend of mine and a very successful REALTOR in Telluride, Colorado. He will be the president of the Colorado Association of REALTORS next year, and he made the headline statement at the winter meetings in Denver a few weeks back. I think he's absolutely right, … (3 comments)
