Merry Christmas To You All

Well, its 1:30 a.m. here & I'm waiting patiently for Mr. Claus. It has been a wonderful holiday so far, but tomorrow is going to be extremely busy. The gifts I have recieved so far can never be as great as the friendships I have made thru activerain. You guys are GREAT! Its so nice to come here everyday & learn something new. You know, come to think of it my animals have gotten alot of gifts for Christmas. My dog T.J. actually got some very nice gifts that he can now destroy(thank goodness). Maybe he will leave my shoes alone now. I hope everyone has a safe & joyous holiday. From my family to yours: Merry Christmas!!!

Adcock Christmas Party

We had our Christmas party last week @ Westlake in Sanford, & a good time was had by all. Our BIC cooked all day long & he really should become a chef. We had prime rib, grilled shrimp, salad, baked potatoes & all the homemade desert you could feast upon. After dinner we played the newlywed game with Dink Martindale (aka: David Nestor) & sang christmas carols with David & his wife Dawn as they played their guitars. We are a very closely knit group, more like family you could say & we all can't wait for next year's party. James & I are going Lobster hunting for dinner next year & I'm sure the entertainment will be just as good, if not better. From Adcock & Associates here in Sanford, NC, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. I feel very blessed to be a part of such a fine real estate firm!

What A Weather Change

I know alot of you in the Midwest are under a massive icestorm that has rocked your world. Here in NC the weather has been GREAT this week. We have been in the mid 70's all week but its all about to change tomorrow. Its hard to believe the weather has been so good this close to Christmas. Personally, I would like to see a little snow here & there but I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. I pray that those of you who are without power & heat soon get it back. We will keep each & everyone of you in our prayers. May God bless you!

What A Wonderful Day

I got wonderful news in the mail today. After sweating & worrying for a week over whether or not I had passed my auctioneers state board exam, the letter came that I had passed & I am so overjoyed. I have had a very productive year; I got my real estate & auctioneer license & I told everyone this afternoon NO more school for me except continuing education to keep these 2 license current. I am so excited about being able to call an auction now. I just can't wait; I still have one more step, the auction board has to approve me next week & I'm good to go. I hope you all had as good a day as I did!!! I have been truly blessed!!

Cold & Icy Morning

We all woke up to a cold & icy morning here in Moncure. I heard the ambulance & firetrucks go up the road about 6 am, then about 8am they went north. We had major pileups on 2 local bridges this morning. Hard to believe that by Sunday we will be back in the 70's. Nobody seems to be seriously injured from the wrecks this morning or at least that's what I was told @ the local hangout. But everyone please be safe today as you travel, its becoming a hectic world this close to Christmas. Be safe & God bless you.

Doing Anything For A Sale

Folks, I've done alot of things in my lifetime but this takes the cake. I went to show a house today that happens to be an in-house listing but not mine & somebody else decided that they wanted to get in the house with a key that didn't work & broke it off in the lock. I called the listing agent & explained the situation, she said do what I have to do. So I did, the window was unlocked in the bedroom so I used a chair & climbed in the window to unlock the door. I called my locksmith to fix the lock & as usual he came running. Where else are you going to find people that will do that on a Sunday afternoon? Needless to say my clients are very interested in purchasing the house, so all is not lost I guess. I do have to buy a new shirt but it will all work out in the end. Have a great night folks. The Panthers Finally Pull One Out

Carolina finally won a game, can you believe it? I was beginning to wonder if they were ever going to get it done again. As much as I am a fan, they have really let me down this year. Once again we are plagued with injuries. Maybe this is the break they needed to get back on track, I sure hope so. On to the Redskins game; I was really rooting for them today. They all played with heavy hearts but I thought they did very well considering what they have all been through this week. I thought they showed great poise & character. RIP #21

I found a new website today that is really helpful if you want to list your properties. I've already had hits & I just put it on less than 45 minutes ago. I do not use info tubes for the simple fact that I like for buyers to contact me, but I just figured out that info tubes can actually help in many ways. Go to infotube.net & you can put your listing on there for free. That's what attracted me, the word FREE!!! Hope it works for you like it has me. Good luck!!

Christmas Decorations

WOW!! What a night, I went to the ever so visited Wal-Mart tonight & much to my surprise they had MORE yard decorations on sale, so what did I do? You got it, I bought more for the yard. I have it lit up like a Christmas tree outside & I LOVE it. So does everyone else, they actually bring their kids by & park along the road to look. I am so thrilled to be able to make other people SMILE! Progress Energy is gonna love it too when they send me that outrageous power bill, but that's okay cause I wouldn't have it any other way this time of the year. Have a great weekend!!!

Lack of Water Begins Reality Check

Here in NC the water situation is just getting worse. I heard on the news this morning that the city of Durham has about 60 days remaining. They will begin stage 4 restrictions sometime this week. This is becoming a harsh reality for most homeowners & businesses. I also noticed that the number of houses for sale has increased with the water shortage. Here in Sanford the water situation is GREAT because we recycle our water everyday. Jordan Lake is below normal but Chatham county has not upgraded their restrictions in the past month. I reside in Chatham & the majority of folks that I talk to there are conserving because they actually want to. I try to conserve by washing clothes 3 times a week & I do not run the dishwasher but 2 times a week; showers in my home are limited to once a day. My water bill has reduced alot & I personally like that idea. I realize we are not the only ones in a drought. I would like to know what else we can do to conserve water, any ideas please let me know. Keep praying for rain!!! Have a great day!!!

Wow! What A Wonderful Day

Good day to you folks! I attended Craig Proctor's seminar in Raleigh yesterday & it was great. I came out of there with a whole new aspect about the real estate industry. I am more motivated than ever. For those of you who need a boost in an industry that is a little down right now I highly recommend you try to find & sit in on the half day seminar that I was so fortunate to have gotten into. It was very informative with alot of great ideas. I took what I learned yesterday to our weekly meeting this morning & our team is more motivated than we have ever been. Raining in Sanford

Good morning folks! God has sent us a wonderful & much needed blessing in the form of rain this morning. It was such a wonderful sight to see first thing. My dog didn't like it very much but he survived. I hope you guys that were traveling made it back home okay. I finally got my Christmas decorations up & I have really lit up the neighborhood. That's my favorite thing to do is decorations because I love Christmas. I hope business is great for everyone & I hope you have a wonderful day!

Winter Has Arrived

Its a cold day here in Sanford NC. Christmas is just around the corner & its hard to believe that this year has gone by so fast. It has finally decided to get cold here after it being almost 70 degrees all week. I am getting extremely excited about the holiday season because I love to spend quality time with family & friends. Its A Beautiful Morning

Good morning folks, its a beautiful morning here in Sanford, N.C. I would like for everyone to know I just recently graduated from the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, N.C. It was a long 9 days but it was well worth it. But I am truly glad to be home. I hope everyone has a blessed weekend & if I can ever be of assistance please let me know.

S&T'S SODA SHOP

For those of you that may be new to the Pittsboro N.C. area, if you haven't tried S&T'S Soda Shop in historic downtown you don't know what your missing. The building in which it resides used to be the old drug store & soda shop. Gene Oldham purchased the building in 1996 with dreams to recreate the soda shop as it may have been between 1900-1940. The building had to be true to the time period in every way. The mahogony furniture was purchased from an old drugstore in Mebane, NC. Each piece was restored by Arthur Bouldin & Keith Morre refurbished each piece to its original beauty. A tin ceiling was added, tile floor laid & marble counter with barstools was made from three older counters. Ray Bouldin was the main drive behind everything in its place, he worked countless hours planning, nailing, gluing & listening to Gene's suggestions & changes. Arthur Bouldin is the master behind the beautiful woodwork inside S&T'S. He created three of the five booths from the original drug store, the frame for the mirror, made the tables from a drawing, and handcrafted the wonderful ice cream sign, complete with a removeable straw in the soda glass. The shoppe opened the third week of October 1997. Gene named the shoppe S&T'S after his two sons, Steve & TJ. It is his hope that this will be a place one can come to enjoy a shake and a smile, reminisce about the past and make memories for the future. They have the best banana split in the country & the food is outstanding. They are open from 11:00-7:30 Monday thru Saturday & are located @ 85 Hillsboro St. in downtown Pittsboro N.C. My name is Lisa York & I will be attending the Mendenhall School of auctioneering a week from tomorrow. I can't wait. I've been working with an auction company out of Raleigh that does antique estate sales & I love it. I also started working for a real estate firm that would like to add auction services to our full service firm. I recently attended a CE class where Auctionfirst did wonderful job of teaching about how real estate auctions work. It was very informative, but if you would like to give more input on how I can get started it would be greatly appreciated.

Loves of my life

I have several animals that are near & dear to my heart, the first being my appaloosa gelding Zips Master Go Lucky aka "FRED". Fred & I have won several titles & have been very competitive on the national level. We have been together as a team since 2002. I have been showing horses since 1975 & would not trade it for anything. My next love would be "TJ" my miniature australian shepard who is just a complete ham & loves everybody, including the 6 cats that live in the house. I think animals are truly man's best friend or in my case woman's best friend & I can honestly say that I love each & every one of them. Have a GREAT day guys & love those animals.
