Picturesque Autumn Day Trip - Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive - 10/22/10 11:32 PM
Arynne Crane, who works with me, took a day off and went to the Skyline Drive to enjoy an escape from the office (and me I suspect.)  She certainly picked the best day imaginable and she took some of the most spectacular photos which I begged her to let me share with you.

Skyline Drive begins in Front Royal, VA, approximately 1 hour and 20 min drive from Washington DC.  The fresh air and serene surroundings that await you are certainly worth any traffic you may encounter on Rt 66.  This winding roadway runs along the crest of the … (2 comments)

Atlas District / H St Corridor Features and Facts - 10/21/10 06:10 PM

Atlas District / H St Corridor
Brick sidewalks, colorful row houses & mature trees line the residential area surrounding The Atlas District, aka, The H St Corridor.  This is still one of DC’s most affordable areas and now may be the best time to purchase one of the many renovated homes in this bustling neighborhood.   As the trolley project nears completion, the home prices most likely will increase the value and sales price of homes near H St.  With a new restaurant, lounge or art gallery opening every time you blink, there is no other neighborhood where you’ll find sword-swallowing … (1 comments)

It is located on 7th Street SE, a few blocks east of the U.S. Capitol between North Carolina Avenue SE and C Street SE. The Eastern Market is on the National Register of Historic Places. Depressing News About Foreclosures - 10/17/10 09:05 PM
DID YOU KNOW.......
The number of homes taken back by the banks topped 100,000 for the first time in September?
REO for the third quarter of 2010 reached a new record as lenders took back over 288,000 properties, a 7 percent increase from the previous quarter and a 22 percent increase from the previous year.
Foreclosure and REO activity are expected to abate over at least the next month or two, but not for any positive reasons such as an improving economy, markets clearing, or job creation. Instead, they are expected to abate because of the missing and fraudulent paperwork.
If these freezes turn into … (3 comments)

Lise Howe Focus on Cleveland Park, Washington, DC - 10/13/10 11:34 PM
Cleveland Park is one of those very special wonders of Washington DC that make the city human and yet exquisitely elegant.  Once a single farm of about 1000 acres belonging to General Uriah Forest, an aide-de-camp of George Washington, Cleveland Park can trace its origins to the 1740′s. Forest and his business partner, Col. Benjamin Stoddert, called the area about Forest’s farmhouse Rosedale. Dating to about 1793, the farmhouse structure is still surrounded by open space reminiscent of its original setting as gardens and farmland. A number of years ago, neighbors banded together to preserve the area which is now held … (0 comments)

Updates on Congressional Action Before the Adjournment - 10/07/10 07:43 PM

·        Congress approved a one-year extension of the existing loan limits for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Housing Administration. This allows the government’s loan guarantee and insurance programs to continue backing home loans of up to $729,750 in markets with the highest cost of living. Retaining the current higher conforming loan limits will allow homebuyers in higher cost areas to have access to affordable mortgage financing and share the same opportunity to achieve homeownership that borrowers in other regions of the country enjoy. This extension, which is good through Sept. 30, 2011, also expands the FHA’s capacity to … (1 comments)

DUPONT CIRCLE Features and Facts - 10/04/10 10:39 PM
DUPONT CIRCLE Today is focusing on Dupont Circle, one of the prettiest parts of the city!  Dupont Circle is D.C.’s trendiest neighborhood, owing to its collection of night clubs, bars, cafes, art galleries, and shops. It also is widely considered the epicenter of the gay community in D.C.  Pierre Charles L’Enfant’s original plan for Washington, D.C. included a number of grand boulevards, radiating out and intersecting with one another in a way that would create public squares and green space. The major thoroughfares coming together at Dupont Circle include Connecticut Ave, which emanates from the White House and runs roughly north-south, and … (3 comments)

SPRING VALLEY, NW Washington DC - 10/03/10 08:59 PM
Spring Valley is a particularly lovely part of North West Washington, an affluent neighborhood in northwest Washington, D.C., known for its large homes and tree-lined streets.
The neighborhood houses the main campus of American University at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue, as well as Wesley Theological Seminary at 4500Massachusetts Avenue. Nebraska Avenue and Loughboro Road are to its south, Dalecarlia Parkway is to its west, and Massachusetts Avenue is to its northeast. Paradoxically, the neighborhood to the northeast is called American University Park, even though the bulk of the main campus is located in Spring Valley.
