dogs: Dog Bite Prevention Part 5, OUCH! He Got Me! - 03/18/08 06:56 AM
OUCH!!! He got me! Sometimes, no matter how careful you are, a dog will bite. If you do suffer a bite, get to water and wash the wound immediately. This will decrease the chance of infection. Seek medical care as soon as possible.
If it was your own dog that bit you, confine it and call your Vet to check your dog's vaccination records.
If someone else's dog bit you, contact authorities and tell them everything you can about the dog, including owner's name (if known), color, size, and breed of dog, where the incident took place, circumstances leading up to … (17 comments)

dogs: Dog Bite Prevention Part 4, OH NO! Here Comes Butch, And He Doesn't Look Happy! - 03/17/08 08:33 AM
OH NO!! Here comes Butch, and he doesn't look happy!
There are usually warning signs before a bite occurs, but these can be very subtle and might be missed. Signs that the dog is telling you "I am nearing the end of my patience" may include:
He turns his head away from you or gets up and moves away.
He looks at you with a pleading expression.

Dogs are great, aren't they? What would you do without your dog? He's always there when you need him. He calms your mood, is a great playmate, and hunting companion. And regardless of what your husband or wife is mad at you for, your dog still loves you!

So, why are we here? We … (10 comments)

dogs: Puppy Love, Or Is It? - 03/12/08 07:24 AM
About 6 months ago, a family purchased a house on the same block as I live on. Their back yard runs with mine, with a privacy fence between. With them, came the most adorable little poodle mix puppy. He was sweet as could be, very playful, and just melted my heart everytime I saw him outside.
For the past month, this puppy has been thrown out the door and left to bark for hours. Even in 20 degree temps with 3 inches of ice on the ground. I caught a glimpse of him the other day and was shocked at his … (19 comments)
