The Jonhson's Stand was one of the earliest settlements in Cumberland County. Mr. Robert Johnson brought his wife and three sons in 1800 and in 1806 they built a log building that was used as an Inn. The Johnson's stand when built bordered four counties. Overton, White, Fentress and Morgan Counties. It was not until Cumberland County was formed by the Legislative Act in 1855 that the Johnson's Stand became part of Cumberland County.
