bellingham realtor: A tid-bit on Short Sales... - 05/16/08 12:45 PM
This is a portion of a response to a Short Sale question sent into the Washington Association of Realtors Legal Hotline sent out in a weekly update I get called "Friday Facts".
It offers another oft overlooked perspective on the importance regarding pricing/buying Short Sales at, or as close as possible to, market value.
"When a short sale lender agrees to take back less money than it loaned, it does so, in part, based on an affidavit from the seller that the buyer's offer represents the highest price for which the property can be sold. If that is not a true … (6 comments)

"I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning."--J.B. Priestley
I attended a Brian Buffini training session yesterday and BOY(!!!) was it EVER the shot in the arm I needed!
My business had been feeling a little like a carnival ride for the past few weeks...but instead of feeling "the thrill of the ride"...I had started to feel a little more than a little queasy.  Up and down...round and round..."CAN SOMEONE PLEASE STOP THIS THING??!!"
The truly remarkable thing about the Buffini training session was that … (9 comments)

What great feedback on my level of customer service to simply be top of mind for them when picking up the phone for help! What a great honor that this client KNEW that I would be available to help them with reputable resources to provide to them to solve their problem.
It is really cool to know that folks understand that my service to them as their Realtor does … (6 comments)

Every new day is an opportunity to start FRESH.  To leave the absurdities, mistakes and failures of the past behind and wake up to a new day, full of promise, wonder and, yep, even magic.
I wear bunny slippers as I pad around the house in the morning to remind me not to take it all too seriously.  You simply can't be too mighty, proud, angry, sad or frustrated when wearing bunny slippers.

bellingham realtor: Live good. Be happy. Quote #17 - 04/06/08 09:27 AM

I have learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.-Martha Washington
"1/2 empty" or "1/2 full"?  "Stuck in the mud" or "Even a muddy day hiking beats a day in the office"?  "This house won't sell" or "We are waiting patiently for the perfect buyer"?  "No one can find 100% financing any more" or "the 3% down safety net has been put back in place to protect our Real Estate Market."
Isn't it all how you look at things that matters?

bellingham realtor: Now is the PERFECT TIME to show the public the HUGE WORTH in hiring a PROFESSIONAL REALTOR - 04/03/08 04:08 AM

I think it is up to the PROFESSIONAL REALTORS (those who are in it, and have been in it as a career) along with the PROFESSIONAL, HONEST, LENDERS to work diligently to help our current situation find its center again.  And I think we are up for the task.
This is the PERFECT TIME to study up on creative ways to help folks move on (seller carry-backs, Nehemiah, etc...).  If you have never been faced with a market like this before, go find a seasoned agent who has been around for a long time and pick their brain on ways they helped clients through similar market conditions.  … (1 comments)

I love this quote because it reminds me to evaluate whether-or-not my efforts are 'spinning my wheels' or if they are really moving me toward something of value...are my efforts taking me where I want to go?

Happiness is a direction, not a place.

If you are expecting the world to make you happy today, you will be dissappointed.  If you expect to go into the world and to choose to be happy today, you will find EXACTLY what you are looking for.
Move in the direction of what you want, expect the outcome to be a positive one, and you will discover that you have found what you were looking for...because you made it appear!

Today, I am on a roll!!  This is quote #3 today...I guess I have a message to send, and that is:
GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!!!
Stop blocking your sunshine, stop creating shadows.  Be light and life.  Be joy and laughter.  Plant happiness today, and don't buy in to the doom and gloom.
Spread goodness, and flavor and beauty today and it will impact the world!
I believe the greatest change we can individually make in the world is to spread postive ripples in the world … (4 comments)

bellingham realtor: Live good. Be happy.'s Mimi on the Radio... - 03/13/08 04:40 AM

So, a few days ago I posted that I was going to be on a local radio show, Radio Real Estate on KGMI 790.
Well, I was and it was great FUN!!!  I was nervous at first.  Sheesh!  What do you fill 1 hour of radio time with???  But, with all of the commercial time and breaks and news, it was only about 15-20 minutes of on air speaking.
The show is available on the KGMI Website for a few weeks for those that are interested in listening.
I speak of the Women's Council of Realtors, growing up in a real estate family, … (5 comments)

What do you believe???  What do you want the next 5 years to look like???  Buy in to the bad news, behave as though what they say is true...and it WILL BE.
Move in the opposite direction of the herd, and you will find a very different REALITY.  Our reality is TRULY what we BELIEVE it to be.
I read this once, funny enough...on a bathroom wall;
"Cows shall perish due to their own mindless grazing...don't follow the herd."  Yep, I know...HILARIOUS that I would quote someone's bathroom wall philosphy...but it … (3 comments)

Funny thing about economics...they are 'prophetic'.  Economics seem to stem from a collective belief system.  And, BOY, are we doing a bang-up job of making our current economic atmosphere 'true'.  I simply can't turn on a tv or radio without being bombarded by bad news.  Scary words like 'recession' and 'economic downturn' are every other word being spoken.  UGH!  Unfortunately, the media's negative propeganda will eventually swell as a collective belief system. (I have even gone so far as to only … (4 comments)

My Mom came over for dinner last night.  She is at the edge of life change, trying to figure out what to do now that she is at the doorway of retirement.  I am trying to help her find answers, trying to offer suggestions.
Let me give you some history:
My lovely mother, Susan McDermott, has been selling real estate for 32 years!  When she went into this business, she was just divorced from my dad, not quite a year after the death of one of my sister's from a 5 year battle … (1 comments)

bellingham realtor: Inspiration from Steve Jobs.... - 03/03/08 10:53 AM
Steve Jobs is on the "Mimi's short list of all-time inspirational people."
I posted the Commencement address to Stanford Grads by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, delivered on June 12, 2005 in 3 parts, focusing on each of Steve Jobs 'stories' in it.
But you know, this piece is so worthwhile...so important to take the time to read, that I felt I should post it, in it's entirety.
By thinking outstide of the box, and adding the sum total of his WIDE RANGE of experience together, we are seeing some of the most exciting and BEAUTIFUL innovation yet in the computer industry coming … (5 comments)
