FYI, this Farmer's Market runs mid May through … (0 comments)

snellville businesses: Snellville/Brookwood Blog is Back- Run the Reagan and More - 02/27/11 09:53 PM
Hi everyone. It has been a minute since I was able to blog. With the passing of my wife's father, I have been the daddy and the mommy for 2 weeks.  Suffice to say, it has been busy.
Many things have gone on in the last couple of weeks.
1.  Run the Reagan was a great success. Last Saturday (2/19/11), they closed Ronald Reagan Parkway.  Participants could run a 5K or run the entire highway.  They had local sponsors and set up an area for kids to play.  My kids had a blast- no, I didn't run but enjoyed the festivities … (0 comments)

snellville businesses: Emory Eastside Hospital Expansion - 01/21/11 10:53 PM
Emory Eastside Hospital's planned expansion is ahead of schedule.  On October 18, the foundation was poured for the emergency room expansion. Phase 1 should be opened in April of 2011.
The third medical office building is also well under way.  The use of precast walls is moving the project along nicely. It should open in May of 2011.
The Main Entrance has also been enhanced with a new visitors information center, human resources department and admissions.
Snellville is home to this first class facility. Both of my kids were born there and the level of service is second to none.  The expansion … (0 comments)

snellville businesses: Gary's Bistro- The Avenue at Webb Gin's newest restaurant - 11/20/10 12:22 AM
We ate at Gary's Bistro this evening. What a fabulous meal! I hadn't yet heard about it since it has only been opened for 2 months. They sent out a mailer and we checked it out. I am glad we did.
The menu ranges in price from about $8-18 for an entree. Tonight's special was BBQ chicken and mashed potatoes for $8.95.  I didn't order it, but they have nightly specials like that.
Granite counter tops and semi-open kitchen make it feel warm. The wait staff was friendly and gave oodles of attention to my kids- always a plus.  They also … (0 comments)

snellville businesses: Ronald Reagan Extension Update - 10/16/10 11:06 PM
Plans are continuing to move forward with the feasibility study of extending Ronald Reagan Parkway.  The advisory group recently met and discussed the progress of the study.
Public/Private partnerships were discussed, including the model of the them, the level of exposure for the government, and how eventually it is all handed back to the government after their "lease" is up.
Things have moved slower than expected due to our economic times. The federal and state DOT are working with Gwinnett in trying to connect it to I85. The upcoming diamond changes are Pleasant Hill and I85 are not going to effect … (3 comments)

snellville businesses: New Development in Snellville on 124 and Janmar - 08/28/10 07:04 PM
In a unanimous decision, the council approved new development along 124 and Janmar roads in Snellville. Formerly the homes of a Home Depot Landscape Store and a Lincoln-Mercury Dealership, the now vacant eye sores will be redeveloped to become an Academy Sports Center and a restaurant with potential out parcels.
Coming on the heels of the cities ability to now serve alcohol on Sundays, this development was passed with many zoning variances.  The city is in talks with a national chain restaurant to move into the 6 plus acre 124 location in the heart of the Snellville shopping area.
Residents will … (0 comments)

snellville businesses: Good restaurants in the Snellville area - 08/20/10 11:03 PM
Snellville has exploded in recent years with more dining choices than we ever had before. The addition of the Avenue has certainly helped us get the restaurant fair that we were so sorely missing. Here are some highlights:
1. Lavender: exceptionally gourmet Chinese.  Lunch menu on Sunday is a big plus. Great presentation.  Best dish: sweet and sour shrimp- made with fresh fruit sauce.
2. Doc Greens at the Avenue: I prefer the sandwiches and entrees to the salads.  The turkey is moist and very tasty. The Thai Spinach Wrap is another favorite.  Good portions on the sandwiches.
3. Ted's Montana … (1 comments)

snellville businesses: Snellville Sunday Alcohol Sales - 07/19/10 11:33 PM
Residents of the Snellville will be voting tomorrow whether to allow Sunday liquor sales within the city limits. Dating back to 2004, the city and many of its leaders have been split on whether to allow this.
Opponents of the the measure say alcohol shouldn't be sold on Sunday due to religious considerations.
Proponents of the measure say that the measure will help increase business and rejuvenate the sluggish business growth that Snellville has experienced in recent years. They also site that many businesses have had to close due to the ban since consumers will take their business outside of the … (1 comments)

If you have driven up Wistera drive lately, you will see the construction of Snellville's new police precinct. Set to open by February, it will provide much needed room for the police department as well as a much more central location. The current headquarters is in a residential area versus the new one being in the heart of downtown Snellville, making it easier for officers to reach the different parts of the city limits.
The building, set to cost around 7 million dollars is being paid for out of SPLOST money. Check out the location below.

snellville businesses: HH Gregg Snellville: Great Service - 06/19/10 09:12 PM
I recently had to make an unplanned purchase. After shopping around, HH Gregg seemed to offer a good price.  While at HH Gregg, I was served by Terrance. Terrance patiently explained to me anything that I needed to know. He was knowledgeable in all aspects of the purchase as well as any technical questions regarding the item I purchased. It is nice to know that good service still exists.
I highly recommend Terrance at the HH Gregg Snellville store to meet all of your shopping needs. His cell number is (I told you he goes above and beyond) 678-362-6419. Stop in … (0 comments)
