Planning Upscale Ensuites Interior Design Bathrooms - 12/26/07 08:12 PM

There are various options for the ensuite bath. The most common and economically employed, is a common room for all fixtures. The master ensuite can be most appealing planned with some separation between function areas.
The more you try to cram the bath area into a small space with other fixtures, the less appealing it will be with a choppy 'crated' look. If you go to the extent of creating a separate space, it is best to keep each space uncluttered.
Allow enough space and let it create the effect. It just looks far too utilitarian with too many fixtures in a small space. A large enough … (0 comments)

Interior Design Art - Color & Shapes in Living Spaces - 12/26/07 08:04 PM
Color
Art should not be 'matched' - it should be 'coordinated'. Buy art with the look and feel you want. Chances are it will 'go' fine with the decor theme. It will likely fit somewhere of not the place you first thought to hang it.
SHAPE
Traditional  art pieces used in interior design have been of a fairly regular rectangular shape. Pieces with diverse orientation make more of a statement. Vertical orientation alludes to extended height in a room. Horizontal orientation broadens a room for visual 'sweep'. Squares make bold statements, especially large pieces

Office Decorating Using Textiles Living Spaces Interior Design - 12/26/07 08:04 PM
There is little functional need for or use of, textiles in office spaces, with predominantly strong hard surfaces and lines. Textiles soften hard edges. In the office, the carpet and perhaps upholstery on chairs are really the few options available without going over the top.
For a warming palette, choose rich earthy tones. So much in the office is already metallic, so avoid whites, light cool beiges and grays - or at least use them wisely.
TEXTILES effectively soften and warm but can be difficult to incorporate into office décor. So if you are installing flooring, definitely consider carpet that will work with the wall … (0 comments)

Juan Valdez - 'BIG COFFEE's Dark Trick Man - 12/12/07 03:50 PM
What Is In Your Coffee Cup?     Why Should You Care?
Coffee is the second largest LEGAL commodity in the world, second only to crude oil. In view of this, comparatively few are aware of industry practices.
Robusta is the lower grade coffee sold by the major coffee companies - BIG COFFEE. It is grown enmass using chemicals on land that has been stripped of the natural coffee growing habitat. 'BIG COFFEE' has raped the earth from the earliest days using slave labor. South American forests, including most of Brazillian territory, cleared for coffee with devasting environmental consequences, are clearly visible from space.
JUAN VALDEZ IS 'BIG COFFEE' PROPAGANDA - an image created to specifically … (25 comments)

Staging vs Interior Design - Addressing The Ongoing Debate - 12/10/07 01:28 AM
Let's get clear about this. There is debate in staging circles among stagers and designers, so what is the consumer to think?
The consumer is left to decide what to choose from available criteria. Here is some clarification.
Regulated staging certification doesn't exist. Program creators make up their own 'certifications' and standards. Staging programs consist of 2 - 10 days training, available to anyone - novices and designers alike.
Designers study 2 - 5 years in trade schools, colleges and university programs.
Decorators are often self-taught, with career based experience in a wide variety of interior fields.
So what does the home seller look for?
Presentation for selling is the … (2 comments)

What's in Your Coffee Cup? - 12/07/07 03:42 PM
PART 1 PART 2 PART 3
It was a longtime dream to open and run a cafe - several years of seeing it in my head. When I hit midlife as with several other things, I had to manifest or something in me would die.
My Volta Cafe' in Kelowna's Cultural District, which I've mentioned here before, was the 'people' place I'd dreamed of. Being a dancer and artist, the unusual venue was the expression of various my creative talents, from the food, to dance shoes, art and COFFEE.
Little aware of what was in my coffee cup at the time, my education on coffee came with a … (50 comments)

50K's you've heard it before ...the GOLD is not in posting or points - 12/05/07 11:11 AM
Previous milestones haven't interested me and the SE's don't give a hoot about 'points'! But I know I have worked hard posting articles for local ranking and awareness when I look at the numbers. Through some agonies, it stands out now.
don't ya just love Judy and Marge?
Herrero, Lowell
art at min. cost - great staging resource
My 'brilliant' thought isn't necessarily so to others! I trust something holds value to someone, somewhere as the words are carried 'out there' .... Posting - out there... for others to read - to judge, is daunting. It doesn't surprise … (24 comments)

Sellers in a Hot Market - Putting Your Property Out Front - 12/03/07 04:40 PM
There is the tendency in a hot market to believe that the market is 'bullish' enough to get the sale through. That is the old thinking. Sure it likely will, but at what cost?
The cost will be the 'expected' lowering of the price. Why expect this negative phenomenon? Instead get proactive and expect faster profitable sale.
It can be difficult for sellers to wrap their minds around the concept of spending a comparatively small amount on staging to set their property out front at the head of the pack to ensure quicker profitable sale. Instead of waiting out sale offers and sliding price.......
stage right … (2 comments)
