It's Chinese New Year. So what has it to do with Real Estate and Staging?
Plenty! The New Year traditions are all about preparing for success - happiness, prosperity, and health - good CHI (energy) at home, at work, in relationships.

The Chinese traditions well understand this balance of creating negative space to attract positive energy flow.

Do I hear you thinking, "NEGATIVE SPACE"? This means clearing out and cleaning up. Create space - organized, even empty, where there is … (6 comments)

Kelowna Buddhist Temple * Yitung * No Talking is Talking * The Lesson That Took A Year - 01/22/08 03:49 PM
(Master Zhing Ru has now moved on, taking the temple furniture with her. We miss her presence and gathering at this marvelous place.)

"No Talking is Talking?" Master Ru had me at her opening statement.
All year she was not giving her teachings during the services at Yitung Temple. She is wonderful to listen to - her wisdom and beauty shines through her speaking dialect. I missed her  simply wise teachings.

My aha! came clearly at the opening celebration of the Chinese New Year Jan 20.
Last year she spoke of silence. I didn't expect a year of it! But now I realize that was her … (6 comments)

Gong Xi Fa Cai - A Sweet Life! - 01/20/08 11:43 AM
Jan 23, 2012 is the beginning of the two week celebration leading up to Chinese New Year. Many customs are practiced during this time, including preparations of cleaning and sweeping out, which Carole Provenzale details in her post on Chinese New Year. This period symbolizes the ultimate intention of de-cluttering home & work spaces for success.

Some of my own gift giving practices have evolved into symbolic gestures. I love the very meaningful symbols of practical intention.
During the 2 week period the Chinese have a custom of giving oranges when visiting friends and family. Just a brown paper bag will do - or better yet, use an earth … (34 comments)

Monet Paintings - Autumn Blooms - Great Impressionism For Modern Living Spaces - 01/18/08 06:45 PM
Yes believe it - this is Claude Monet! The vision and scope of Monet's Famous Paintings, Studies In Color and Light extends far beyond the famous artist's watery images and studies at Giverny While I have a background in art I haven't studied it formally. My specialized field has been Raku Art - One can only do so much! I'm shy to admit that I only recently discovered this series of the Impressionist Master. As you see here, it can be surprising to view these very modern Monet Paintings, left for us to enjoy among his varied repertoire. One would think … (22 comments)

Home Interior Decorative Lighting Design in Living Spaces - 01/18/08 06:30 PM
The light fixture both indoors & out, regardless of esthetic effect, in interior design, landscape and home decorating should be functional in all ways, as well as fitting room decor.
When lighting is correctly and effectively applied, there may be little or no need for interior decorative lighting fixtures in certain decor styles. The minimalist or very modern interior maintains lean streamline. The basic plan of a well designed plan illuminates the interior effortlessly.

Rustic Stools Relating To Classic Historical Design in Interior Living Spaces - 01/18/08 06:28 PM

The most humble lowly stool with 3 or 4 peg legs and a seat began likely as a hearth or milking stool or other such peasant seating! The modern bar stool is a long way from its beginnings ......and back again,  rustic style, emulating once again the nostalgia of old become new.
The Parisian ‘gentry' were often not pleased with the roughly attempted designs of 'Provencal' country artisans in the 'Provinces'. However, in emulating the fine lines and curves of the aristocratic Louis 14th French Furniture, they came up with the solid earthy French Country styles we are generally far more fond of!

Interior Design Bathrooms Upscale Ensuite Living Spaces - 01/18/08 06:27 PM
Separate bathroom areas are most ideal. Consider tub room, washbasin vanity(ies), and water closet (toilet) in separate spaces.
The shower and bath in one, toilet in another. In the third space double bath vanities are great for family use. This way allows all fixtures to be in use, with privacy.
Variations of these Interior Design bathroom spaces may be created. For example, it can also work very well for the smaller family to use two separate areas. One with tub, shower, toilet and sink; the other a dressing area with sink and vanity INTERIOR DESIGN BATHROOMS ARTICLES … (0 comments)

Billiard Room Decor Living Spaces Interior Design - 01/18/08 06:24 PM
Adequate space for both table and cue area is the first critical consideration in Billiard Room Decor. If you are planning to build, great! Then you can plan the appropriate size space into the building plans. Basically what is required at minimum, is an extra 5 feet around all perimeters.
As you see quite a large room is required to house both the table and the play. I've seen people so excited about getting a pool table, they've not allowed for cue reach. The average cue is 57 inches, some shorter, some longer.

Kelowna Home Staging Living Spaces Interior Design ...MY PRO MEME - 01/14/08 07:34 PM
The 'Meme', for public understanding is 'Active Rain's' idea of 'tag', the purpose being, getting to know others in this 65,000+ network. This my 5th, thanks to Martin Abeshaus I decided to publish my career journey.
Academic Studies - A 'visual' girl, I dreamed sugar plum fantasies of exquisite interiors. Academic studies in the sciences were fascinating - math is beautifully the only precise science - you can always count on it! However I couldn't see that I would want to work in academia.

Let It Be A Dance - 01/06/08 03:32 PM
Tango at Church???
...and what does Tai Chi have to do with Tango??  ..in church                    ...anyway?
It's right across the street from where I live, but I don't generally attend the Unitarian Fellowship of Kelowna, except for special functions. Like today.
I previously blogged on how both Qi-gong and Argentine Tango, long time dreams of mine had come right to my front door - the church across the street. http://activerain.com/blogsview/132063/Argentine-Tango-in-Kelowna
Entirely fitting for me, dancer and lover of dance, was this first celebration of the new year at the fellowship which they called in relating to the new year, 'Let It Be A Dance'. Aligned … (12 comments)

Home Selling Checklist LIVING SPACES Interior Design - 01/05/08 03:24 PM
A PERSONALIZED CHECKLIST really gets you ORGANIZED and on with the task of preparing to stage and sell.  List room by room what you plan to do with everything. Closets, cabinets and storage in the entire house need to be at least half emptied, cleared and cleaned. It will then need to be decided what to do with everything. And NO, it cannot be shoved into the garage.
The challenge is to help potential buyers imagine themselves living in the house you are selling. making a mind shift will help you release the house for sale. When it comes time to actually move (and you are moving right? ‘cause the … (0 comments)
