In the dance community several years, I've seen great dancers, good dancers, dancers with steps but no style or technique, and many people trying because they just love it - these make me feel happiest.

I've also noted great technique with little passion, no life. Granted, focus is key in learning - but letting the music take you should kick in at some point. Cubans I spoke with say we look like ballet dancers when we dance latin!

It is rare to experience a truly passionate dancer who allows the music to move through soul, into sinew and limb in lead and follow with the strains of rythm. I've had the opportunity very few times to dance this way, often with men untrained in structured dance.

(Now I am not without flaw here! I often find myself focusing on steps and technique. I would much rather be finely tuned intuiting energy, lead and music.)

A European man from out of town came to a tango lesson with his lovely Latino wife. He danced with passion clearly apparent in his demeanor and frame, which was only discernable as his energy permeated the embrace of the partnership - in every movement and with every woman he engaged. He was beautiful to dance with, while not necessarily being a technically correct dancer. His style is not at all an intimate betrayal of his wife, as clearly they each understood the passion of tango and that it should be danced just that way.

Relating a common love of letting the music lead and take you is rare. Few l-o-v-e it so passionately to express it that way. A man with whom I am barely acquainted but who loves to dance - and I sense adores the engagement of energy between two people, said, "I want to dance with you. I want to dance close ..so close that you feel my breath on your neck..."

His unexpected statement, startled me and I unfortunately diverted the conversation. Ever just kick yourself when you miss a great moment that could be creatively explored? That was one of mine I realized later. But in retrospective thought, my imagination went exploring the nuances of the image that broadsided my reserve in ...a rather provocative way.

In Three Minutes of Intimacy p1, I explored how the form of dance in our culture especially, is so far from the intimacy being portrayed by it. We are removed from the very intimacy acted out in our own movements. Yes it is still a way of honoring intimacy in life, even though we tend to disconnect from it.

Back to the gentleman - at least I hope he is! We haven't danced. But I realize my immediate thought was of a slow dance, which I usually associate with an intimate partner. The image I had was perhaps incorrect, at least limited.

Exploration of the lingering provocative statement twigged me to more closely consider breath in dance, slowing down in my mind, the nuances of tango engagement. One hardly thinks of the breath, as each is involved with lead and follow, moved by the music. Through music and motion, and when allowed, a new energy is created. Taking over, it breathes life into the synchronsitic movement.

In intimate embrace, he leads with stealth, the walking steps, like a panther, they describe it in Argentina. But since the dancers are focused on intuiting the music and the dance, is the breath even noticed? Perhaps not by logical thought, but yes there it is. Almost subliminal through passes, turns, leans, ganchos, the 'ether' of the breath registers somewhere primal as it grazes a cheek, whispers over a bare shoulder, down the hollow of a nape.

Argentine Tango engages sensual connected energy. It begs to be danced no other way. The fine tuning of paying close attention in the nuances of lead and follow create the art of intuiting and interpreting the energy of the other in the flow of synchronistic motion.

Therein is the Magic - and oh my, the magic we forsake!

So few are the times I've let myself go with connected energy in dance. Yet it is truly what I dance for! So before I die, on my bucket list, is to dance, abandoning all reserve!

As with breath, Tango is life...

Go BC ! North America's First Revenue Neutral Carbon Tax

The Province of British Columbia boasts a balanced budget for 2008. More than $1 billion is included to support the government's greenhouse gas emission reduction goal.

British Columbia's Revenue-Neutral Carbon Tax - introducing North America's first comprehensive carbon tax to encourage individuals and businesses to reduce their use of fossil fuels and related greenhouse gas emissions.

Sound like a scary new tax? Maybe so unless & until we 'get it'. But not really.

Effective July 1, 2008, the carbon tax is applicable fossil fuels, including gasoline, diesel, natural gas, coal, propane and home fuels, making it among the most comprehensive in the world.

It will includes sales tax exemptions for fuel-efficient vehicles and ENERGY STAR appliances. $60 million is aimed at energy audits and conservation incentives. Public transit, greener ports, energy efficient buildings, a carbon neutral public sector and increased incentives to get older, less efficient vehicles off our roads.

Revenue Neutral Carbon Tax

By law revenue raised must be returned through other tax reductions.
Incentive to reduce emissions in any chosen way.
Anyone can choose to avoid the tax by conserving, increasing efficiency, changing fuels, adopting new technology and any combination of these approaches.
Higher price for higher-carbon makes green options of low or no-carbon emission alternatives.
Introduced in phases for adaption and impact reduction
starts at $10 per tonne; to increase $5 a year for four years; $30 per tonne by 2012.
Translates to 2.41 cents per litre gasoline, rising 7.24 cents a litre by 2012.
Diesel and home heating oil; 2.76 cents per litre to start; 8.27 cents over 5 years

Just got my check in the mail, along with every eligible registered British Columbian - every man, woman, and child.

BC has dug itself out of the hole quite nicely over the past several years with difficult reforms. We do have some way to go to get functioning effectively however.

The province issued the Climate Action Dividend, based on our 2008 balanced budget, which Premier Gordon Campbell boasts, reflects both a strong economy and a healthy environment. New personal and business tax reductions by 2009, will give the lowest personal taxes in Canada on incomes up to $111,000.

HOWEVER! Since the province is introducing North America's first revenue-neutral carbon tax, one might wonder if all this goodness is to soften that tax squeeze, which is meant to encourage innovation and conservation. The comprehensive carbon tax is meant to encourage individuals and businesses to reduce use of fossil fuels and related greenhouse emissions. It is revenue-neutral because, by law, all revenue raised by the carbon tax must be returned to individuals and businesses through reductions to other taxes.

Of course the $100 may be spent however we wish. Perhaps it will create some thought to the future taxation on the part of spenders as to how best conserve energy. Even buying a new pair of runners with the intention of foot power over driving is a great start.

What would you do with your $100? Quite frankly, I am a good environmental steward - walking, recycling, gardening, reducing waste, etc., and mine is going on vacation with me!

Canada's Day of Apology * The Sins Of Our Fathers

This day has been building many many years. A mixture of feelings overwhelmed me as I watched and heard our country's leaders express sorrow and apology over the treatment of aboriginal children in residential schools ".... for failing to protect you" in institutions that were not properly regulated.

Since the Canadian government compensated those inflicted with life long pain, many of them have died, making their final indulgences with drugs and alcohol - too little too late in lives too painful.

My eyes spring with tears of shame and deep sadness. I've been aware many years of the travesty of children removed from their homes to be abused in Catholic residential schools.

A friend told of leaving her mother at age 5 to go to residential school. She has a framed picture of the day; innocence itself, dressed in a little plaid skirt and white blouse, patent shoes with white socks; her mother bravely holding her in their last moments. I wondered at her anxiety & strange behaviour on a trip we took together. She later told me she has trouble travelling because she gets the feeling she will never return home. She is getting better with it.

The Canadian government has apologized and paid out compensation. However I wonder along with aboriginal people who have expressed it.....

it seems that something is being overlooked ...

....WHAT ABOUT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AT WHOSE HANDS THESE CHILDREN WERE ABUSED? ..sexually, with beatings, torture, made to eat vomit and excrement - intended to 'kill the Indian' in the child.

They killed the spirits of many innocent children.

I watched some time ago as a spokesman for the Catholic Church issued an apology, which in my mind was casual, weak, not anywhere near adequate. What about accountability? It seems they've hardly been brought to task for the many horrors inflicted in various areas in addition to the residential schools.

Who brings the church to task, to accountability for the horror? For the active ongoing cover-up, including a significant document written by the current pope? This 'holy' institution it appears has only been coming 'clean' as they've had no recourse, nowhere to hide.

The shame is theirs.

Modern Greek Legend * King of the Kamakis'

MODERN GREEK LEGEND

Greeks are full of legends - yes even the moderns have tales to tell, I found, usually of the theme of being the original-best-but-someone-else-'stole-their-idea'. And the classic mix of myth with life.

Matt Barrett's site, highly recommending the 'perfect island' Sifnos for a variety of cultural & historical reasons tweaked my interest. Famous for its potters, and being one myself, sealed it for me.

After a few days in Athens, off I went on a 'Flying Cat' (the craft in the bkgd). Landing in Kamares, the magic of emeralds & sapphires dancing in the Aegean Sea totally captured my soul!

Walking a short distance, I found the Hotel Stavros Barrett recommends. This was just so easy! After settling in my room, I set off exploring - my first Greek Island!!

I'd gone mere steps when I stopped short.

In the midst of arranging my travel, I'd forgotten the story on Barrett's site of the world famous 'King of the Kamakis', potter Adonis Kalogirous.

And suddenly there - 3 doors from my hotel - his keramika shop!

Notorious for his conquests, multitudes of tourist women, the locals were not surprised, but chuckled saying he was harmless, when I asked if he was 'safe'. Very wary, I was compelled to enter his shop. This potter's family has an ancient history as potters.

Wonder what a Kamaki is? It means 'harpoon'. A casanova, ranging from a male hooker (harpoon) to those for whom it is a tourist 'sport' and everything in between! They are quite famous with female tourists the world over. For Adonis it was the sport - he is very well set with his work and properties.

One potter to another, I became comfortable with the exchange, stopping occasionally on my way past. Antonio, his real name, would join me as I dined at a nearby cafe.

The family history is fascinating. His parents still threw clay, as had many generations before, and worked alongside. Clay is still dug locally.

The tray full of pots you see here, Antonio throws in about 20 minutes!

His stories, typically Greek, were a mix of myth and reality in which one has a difficult time discerning. When Antonio told me that he was the King of the Kamakis (as if his reputation hadn't preceded him!) was when I became wary again!

Sure enough, the next day he joined me at the open air 'kafenia' as I was having dinner.

He wanted me to go out on his boat ...swimming ...naked!

Ancient myths of destruction ran through my head as I visualized being on jewelled Aegean waters, under the mythical blue Hellenic sky, alone with a Greek god

..........and nowhere to run!

(By chance I ran into Antonio here, at the Chrysopigi monastery. He'd come to pray for his parents & showed me the chapel & miracle of Santa Maria location on the rocky point.)

People are content here. Antonio says he will never leave.

I travelled on to Paros. My Sifnos adventure was marvelous. I'd rented a car & explored the whole island. Very highly recommend this island away from tourist crowds & full of ancient historical riches, tradition & culture.

Quantum Possibility * Creating New Realities * Ordinary Divine Messengers

Creating New Realities can seem so hard. We look for Quantum Possibility outside of the ordinary.

We can tend to think that a 'leap', a shift in consciousness requires great momentum, energy, and focus. Sometimes it is simply a small very ordinary awareness that life force brings our way.

The messengers are frequently ordinary people, I've noticed over many years. So ordinary a transmission, that it can be missed. I'm learning to listen for the 'magic'.

Quantum possibilities and the realization of them to create new realities, is based on wisdom that comes to us, on which we decide direction, action of energy. It flows through our response to the awareness.

Universal consciousness, life force, 'universe', god, is present in you and me. I am equally certain this wisdom passes between us. 'Heaven' in earth is within 'these earthen vessels' here and now. It is made manifest by the choices we allow and express.

I suffered 3 years with a mysterious pain in my hips, mostly the right. It kept me from sleeping; many times brought me to tears. My doctor sent me for many tests. I finally ended up in a confrontation with her over many issues of my health and at long last after several years of NO help, will not be seeking her 'help' further.

When I think about the cost to the medical system my symptoms have incurred, without helping me one iota, I quite frankly have to quell the anger I feel.

My first clue about the pain was after taking a bunch of Ibuprofen for it. The pain released - & I dropped a pant size!! Temporarily. Inflammation, hmm. I told my doctor. She looked at me a blankly.

Recently the practitioner of a particular therapy asked, did I eat a lot of cheese? I didn't think I did, but after leaving her, I did recall the previous 2 evenings, I had.

I sometimes miss the message, and almost ignored her suggestion to try eliminating cheese for 2 weeks. It's been over 3 months now.

I have no hip pain and have not had it the whole time! In fact even my legs have also been released from pain and ache. Testing it - eating cheese brings it back. Apparently the body forms mucous around substances it cannot handle - including many common foods. The build up created inflammation, swelling & radiating pain.

I have had several such shifts with my health. Sitting comfortably, stretching my legs walking, I feel such happiness and gratitude. There is actual JOY in my limbs at just performing their natural function normally! My legs and hips are sooo happy when I walk! They say ahh, when I go to bed!

A Quantum Leap can be so simple as heeding and acting on the wisdom of an Ordinary Divine Messenge.

The Okanagan Valley with Kelowna at its hub, lies in the heart of British Columbia's central interior. Since the 1950's The region has long been a sought after resort & vacation spot.

Construction has boomed over the past several years. Reaching a feverish pitch with a labour shortage, the provincial government made agreements with other countries (ie: Jamaica) to bring in specialized labor - electricians, plumbers,etc.

A long period of provincial economic lows & the international exchange rate, supported & encouraged international investment interest creating development flow in the nineties. The low Canadian dollar made it very appealing to BC's immediate neighbors Washington State & Alberta residents, as well as many internationals to invest in Okanagan recreational properties.

This is where I started staging in the nineties (decorating we called it then!) properties for developers' & internationals' vacation & resort properties.

Being a resort area, the Okanagan attracted a variety of retirement, recreational, & boomer investment.

Some realtors seem to feel that the advent of the Okanagan Mountain fire which gained international attention, also created an awareness of our spectacular Okanagan Vistas & the amenties of golf & ski resorts, lush vineyards & a world class wine industry - to mention only a few in our 4 season playground.

With the Canadian dollar stronger than it has been for many years & low interest rates, the economic climate remains conducive to local investment, spending & building.

For Ski Resort Decor there is a tremendous amount of logical functional support for rustic western style in building and furniture design.

With the Post Modern and Italian Modern trends showing up on the slopes, I can't help but wonder how long the uninviting minimalist, even elitist decor style will last this time. In its history, it has made short-lived appearances to be traded in for comfort and warmth.

Okay so have it - the appeal I admit, refreshingly minimalist, has it's place.

However I argue for valid style in ski cabin condo & chalet design, these points:

Ski gear is anything but graceful indoors; banging, clunking, falling over, scraping.....
Properties are often rentals and ...
Renters are hard on properties - been there - seen it - disappointing!
When it's cold outside, it's only natural to make it warm and inviting inside.

Rustic Interior & Exterior Design

reflects the natural rugged mountain settings
predisposes itself naturally to wear and tear

Aren't we leaving the city behind to engage in the wilderness?

Property owners who don't rent their ski homes have more flexibility to design in whatever way they wish. I do recommend for rentals, more functional interiors. Make it durable - avoid disappointment.

With construction buzzing year round in BC, Ski Resort Decor is seasonable in the 'off season'! Obviously spring is the time for getting a great head start on chalet, condo & cabin interiors outfitting & arrangement ready to go for the snow season in November.

The rush is really on in the autumn. I've met the 'snowfall' deadlines, but with a lot of scurrying!

Svelt Italian Modern decor is making appearances at the resorts. However, if you own a rental property, you likely well know that skiers are rough on rental and lodge properties. Certainly you would not use glass, or otherwise sleek smooth surfaces in these interiors for ski boots & gear to be landing on and scraped across!

It is always best to consider rustic durable style from the start. Rustic and western decor is best suited in any case to the rugged mountain terrain.

Some Definite Interior Applications to consider, especially for entries & traffic areas where gear and boots get banged around:

Panelled walls traditionally used, even just applied on the lower wall, take wear and tear far more gracefully and are repaired more easily than drywall.
Tile floors uphold better to ski boots, than linoleum or wooden floors.

I grew up in a small prairie farm town where my ancestors had pioneered. My grandmother was a woman of grit! Running her grain farming operation until retirement, she in fact drove her tractor for spring seeding, through to fall fallow turning.

Active Rain Women Stagers & Realtors, Yahoo launched SHINE March 31.

The site focus is on women ages 20 something to 50 something, because of the spending control of this group. It appears you can shop and advertise what you sell also. The blog style is similar to Active Rain - nice, but not as interactive. Apparently Tom Cruise was engaged to wave hello to the early newcomers opening day. (Make of that what you will ;))

Having a Yahoo account I was surprised to find they'd already set up my blog space on SHINE !

You can upload articles with backlinks to your site. It will certainly boost your web presence and linking strategy, just as Active Rain does. It remains to be seen I suppose, if it will bring actual business - it could conceivably do so if your keywords are accessed in searches.

I rather like it and thought you might like to be in on the latest women's web premier, if you haven't already!

Being Found In Searches and building 'muscle' for your business and website is the whole point of blogging, articling and any web presence. March 2008, my site was found by about 7000 visitor's 1,993 keyword searches and in-pointing links, viewing over 13,500 pages. And I'm just beginning.

Here on Active Rain, points are awarded on the foundation of effective keyword use relative to SEO. What is proper use?

Title - the first 3 to 5 title words are what the SE's pay attention to and should reflect the subject
Body - Repeat those keywords at the beginning & per 500 words and at the end
Tags - the first tag should repeat the first the first 3 to 5 words of the title.
Intersperse other relevant keywords throughout the text - these may be found in searches also

Blog Articles and Title Keywords are only effective with web presence, in-pointing links, among various important factors.

Keyword Spies * Pirates & Internet Success

Recently on my SITE, I noticed several links in from a keyword spy site. I felt dismayed. All my hard work researching effective keywords and anyone can pay 5 bucks to spy them.

I didn't even know there was such a thing! Why should I be surprised!? (arghh.. :-() The pirates and spies are everywhere! Do you ever wonder who else besides prospective clients are going through your pages? It makes me feel a little vulnerable sometimes.

Oh Well! That's what happens when you're 'out there'! Perhaps I can consider it success if someone wants to find out what I'm doing. It prompted me to certain actions.

You can't imitate or pirate internet success. It takes thorough understanding, building a site with a PROGRAM Based On How The Internet Works..

.....far more than keywords - certainly much more than mere design, and it costs ... time, effort, lots of hard work, and yes some money ..

Build It Website Internet Success Components ...

...Keywords, Linking, SEO, Relevance, Theme, Market Niche, Content, Hosting..... design is a very small part in the midst of what really gets significant traffic.

Returning to my work in interiors last year, I decided to Build My Own Site.

I'd barely used the internet before, but had the time between careers. Wanting to see if I could do it, I also made it an informational site with ads and referral affliations to bring in revenue. Instead of paying someone else or having it cost me, the site can pay me. Good business I thought.

I searched hard through all the hype out there. Have you done that? It's insane - I avoid hype like the plague!

It's hard work getting it right. The learning curve was very steep for me. There is a lot of information to get through to make it work properly. I really thought initially that just any site would do, without understanding what it takes for internet success.

If you already have internet & site building skills, it certainly comes easier. Experienced people have achieved success faster that I am.
