art: Jimmy Tsotumo Mirikitani * The Cats Of Mirikitani - 11/03/08 10:31 PM
Jimmy Tsotomu Mirikitani , a brilliant artist, lived on the streets of New York until 911 when a remarkable young woman took him in to live in her tiny New York apartment. She had been buying his paintings, chatting him up, and filming him, on her visits to his makeshift home/studio on the street. Hunched over he painted every which possible way, it seemed especially with paper laid out on the sidewalk. Then 911 came. Linda Hattendorf filmed the towers, the destruction; the fiming is over a 10 year period. She filmed Jimmy. There he was on the street. Still painting. Jimmy painted

Down Home Rustic COUNTRY WESTERN FURNITURE for Interior home Decor applications can be a frustration to access. Furnishings & Accessories for Wilderness Country Theme echoing early North American West lifestyle are in demand for vacation, mountain & country homes, such as the chalet, log cabin, ranch house, etc. From nailhead leathers to antler chandeliers, rustic hewn woods and metals, where do you find it? Believe it, retailers in this genre are few and far between. However, a significant demand exists. Rising to meet the demand are online shopping sources, which makes perfect sense for this sparce, yet distinct market. Lots of Leather Art PrintOwen, Chris Buy Western Art

art: Vincent Van Gogh * Self Worth Eludes A Master * Living Spaces Design - 03/10/08 02:46 AM
A meticulous, industrious man; prolific and proficient artist, he was never good enough - as hard as he tried, his writings indicate a compulsion to deride his own work, hoping for the elusive stage of one day 'getting good enough'. I have reflected over the years that often, it isn't necessarily those most talented who achieve success. The most successful may have only a fraction of the talent, but they believe in it, right - OR WRONG. I have noticed in my associations, very successful people who believe without question their own 'brilliance'. In fact the knowledge and capacity may be poor,

art: African American Dance Art * Laverne Ross * LIVING SPACES Staging & Interior Design Kelowna - 02/28/08 01:25 PM
A LITTLE ART AWARENESS Researching dance art five years ago, I stumbled upon this amazing piece by Laverne Ross. For me it was a breath-taking awakening into the world of African American Art. There is a tone in this field of art that is distinctly descriptive in a way difficult to put words to. It achieves what art is designed to. It is emotive, appealing to the senses and emotion. Successfully delivered art can be challenging to describe. art: Kelowna Home Staging * Art In Modern Interiors * LIVING SPACES - 02/16/08 10:59 PM
Art is subjective. It is can be difficult to choose it objectively. Art tends to have a strong emotional impact. It appeals to the creative right brain. That's a great thing when selecting it for personal use and enjoyment. The left brain relates to art by trying to quantify and qualify, it seeks to make a logical decision about it. We need to balance left and right brain processes when selecting art for staging. It isn't the usual way we buy art, so can feel somewhat alien making a 'logical' decision where an emotive one is the usual criteria. (Sorry! but it's why A-types tend to need creatives to help them -

art: Billiard Room Decor Living Spaces Interior Design - 01/18/08 06:24 PM
Adequate space for both table and cue area is the first critical consideration in Billiard Room Decor. If you are planning to build, great! Then you can plan the appropriate size space into the building plans. Basically what is required at minimum, is an extra 5 feet around all perimeters. As you see quite a large room is required to house both the table and the play. I've seen people so excited about getting a pool table, they've not allowed for cue reach. The average cue is 57 inches, some shorter, some longer. To Source Billiard Room Decor and Art Ideas visit HERE

art: Art in The Bathroom * Home Staging * Interior Design * Living Spaces - 11/28/07 12:08 PM
Of course art is delightful in the bathroom, giving a much needed 'lift' to the utilitarian fixtures. Art is a concern in the bathroom, to the avoidance of using it there. Framers routinely advise againt it. Sorry to 'dampen' the enthusiasm somewhat, but there are some unpleasantries to be cautious of. Depending on the issues of steam and dampness, especially if there isn't an exhaust fan, it may be necessary to take some cautionary measures. If the exhaust carries away the steam effectively, there may be little to worry about. French Bath III Art Print Hageman, Marilyn buy art

art: Art in Home Staging & Interior Design - Living Spaces - 11/27/07 03:02 PM
An artist, stager and designer, I have developed views from each discipline of the use of art in Interior Design and Home Staging that tend perhaps to differ somewhat from the mainstream. Thank goodness for a more general understanding collectively of the use of eclectic mix in interiors and away from the 'matchy' thing previously prevalent. Some 'professionals' can tend to be stuck in the 'matchy' mud, as well. The consumer is becoming more savvy and boldly pulling together various elements to work together.

art: Dimensional Art in Interior Design Living Spaces - 11/27/07 02:16 PM
The tendency of the masses to think of art in terms of two dimensional wall art and paintings very often overlooks and rules out the very fabulous effect of three dimensional art. Three dimensional art in the form of sculpture or pottery in a room adds - what else? The excitement of dimensionality, tactile essence, texture to room interiors. There is just something so outstanding about the presence of art IN the room, inviting interaction, rather than merely on the walls. I have always encouraged the 'touching' of art. It begs for it, so why prohibit it's purpose to please? It was created by hands

art: Raku Art ......you asked, Carole Provenzale! - 11/02/07 03:26 PM
Some time ago Carole Provenzale requested information on Raku Art. Since Raku is not only a lengthy and labor-intensive art form, I put off relating the complex process which requires lengthy description. I will however keep it very short. Pronounced rakoo - rhyming with, but not the spaghetti sauce! ..modern Raku is derived from the ancient Japanese form of glaze firing tea bowls and is closely related to the tea ceremony. Typified by 'crazing' which is cracking of the glaze, a desireable effect, Raku is art only and not meant for serving food. Any clay forms may be fired in this method. The process itself is very Zen
