Can We Really Manage Time? - 10/31/07 12:21 PM
It sounds like a trick question doesn't it?
My first thought was "Yes, I can plan my day by prioritizing and to-do lists and that's time management!" Well, no matter how much you plan, block time, prioritize, etc. everyone on this planet still only has 24 hours in a day. We get no more and no less ...
Stop trying to figure out how to fit it all in and more about how we can make better use of the time.
Remember the analogy about fitting rocks, pebbles, sand and water into a jar? The teacher after adding each item kept asking his students if the jar … (3 comments)

Howell Carnegie Library - 10/19/07 03:44 PM
Hey Moms ... looking for a fun, but educational activity for your young ones? If you haven't checked out the Howell Carnegie Library yet you should really stop in for a look around.
In the last year or so they have done some beautiful remodeling of the childrens area. You can find it in the basement of the building located on Grand River in downtown Howell. Here's a link to check out what they have to offer:

I took both my kids there when they were in preschool and elementary and just needed that extra outlet for fun and learning. Here's a list of some … (0 comments)

CAMP 4:4:3 - Keller Williams in Brighton, MI - 10/18/07 07:43 PM
I just have to give a shout out to my new friends at the Keller Williams office in Brighton, MI. I attended their CAMP 4:4:3 class today and I'm very excited about becoming a "LEAD GENERATOR"!
They were all very welcoming and gracious enough to allow this Real Estate One agent into their group! There was a lot of energy in the room today, and I know this class will really be the kick start to a long and successful business for us all.
I hope some of you have checked out Active Rain since class and will take a moment to read my blog. I'd love … (6 comments)

Consider This Before You Sell Your Home On Your Own - 10/17/07 10:43 PM
I know the appeal of selling your house on your own is great. It's a tough market and why not save the 6% right? Well, consider these facts before you choose not to use a Realtor:
The typical FSBO home sold for $187,200 compared to $247,000 for agent-assisted home sales. Realtors understand how to complete the many contracts, forms and disclosure statements required in a real estate transaction.Realtors and their brokers spend lots of money to advertise their listings. Do you have a website, blog, and advertise on Realtor.com? Did you know 84% of buyers look to the internet to buy their next home? You don't … (0 comments)

Do You Have a Buyers Agency? - 10/16/07 08:48 PM
If you're currently working with a Realtor and they haven't taken the time to explain agency disclosure ... BEWARE! Don't go out looking at houses before your Realtor has explained it to you.
Realtors are required to explain the different types of relationships, whether they are acting as a sellers agent, buyers agent or dual agent. Here are the definitions of all 3:
SELLERS AGENT: A seller's representative is hired by and represents the best interests of the seller. The relationship usually is created by a listing contract.BUYERS AGENT: This type of licensee is hired by prospective buyers to represent them in a … (0 comments)

Metro Detroit Market Snapshot 8/06 VS 8/07 - 10/16/07 07:18 PM

Metro Detroit Market Summary
Year to Date August 2006 vs. August 2007
The chance of selling a home in the next 120 days has actually improved in most markets since last year, more of an indication of fewer homes on the market than more sales, but still a healthy sign. The drastic drop in median home values for the City of Detroit is a reflection of the foreclosure/investor market (we are also trying to verify the MLS numbers to be sure they are correct). The median sales price drop reflects what we are feeling in home value shifts.

What Does Your Checklist Look Like ... Listings? - PART I - 10/14/07 08:57 PM
I guess I'm just naturally curious ... I like interactive posts. I enjoy talking with other Realtors about how they run their business and sharing my ideas as well. And what a wonderful outlet for my curiosity ... Active Rain!
I call this responsible posting because I think it can help newbies and even spark a few new ideas in us all. It's always good to share what we know I think.
So, here's my thought for the multi-part post, let's get back to basics and share the fundamentals of our business. Maybe start with the very obvious ... LISTINGS.
You've got the listing appointment ...
How do you prepare and what's in your … (0 comments)

How Many Designations Do You Have? - 10/13/07 10:27 AM
How many designations or certifications does it take to make a good Realtor? Kind of like asking, "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?" Well, not really ... or is it? Realtors have layers ... don't we? We're a multi-faceted profession! I like to think getting to the yummy, chewy part is kind of like getting to that place as a Realtor where we're on auto-pilot and hitting our goals.
I'm sure many would argue you don't need a college degree or designations. And, while we can operate without either, is it really for the … (9 comments)

Yes, I Shamelessly Pimp My Kids for New Business! - 10/07/07 08:59 AM
We all do ... don't we? Or I am the only pathetic parent/Realtor on this planet using their kids to stir up some attention?
Over the weekend, South Lyon, MI had their annual Pumpkin Fest which included a parade as many fests do. Real Estate One always has a spot in the parade and I decided to join the few that participate this year. My kids thought it would be fun to walk with me and pass out candy. So, I get the brainy idea to get them a Real Estate One t-shirt with our company logo on front. Well, my brainstorming … (12 comments)

Who Does Your Portrait? - 10/04/07 07:49 PM
OK, I've held off long enough ... I have to get some professional pictures taken for my business cards and other marketing material. Anyone have a favorite or suggestions for types of photos to get rather than the old stand by. Not that I'm opposed to that, I will get one of those too. I'm just looking for other fun shots. … (18 comments)

How Does a Buyers Agent Get a REO Offer Accepted?????? - 10/01/07 09:05 PM
Since I work in the Michigan market, it's only a matter of time before you're asked to put an offer in on a bank owned property. Here's my question: if we're working for the buyer, how can we present our offers to the bank rather than just the REO Agent?
Anyone have any tips on how to best negotiate with banks? I've been negotiating one where the listing doesn't even come close to what's actually out there. Wrong number of bedrooms, bathroom, garage or lack of, and the list goes on. I tried talking to the REO Agent and he just said I was … (9 comments)
