mercer arboretum: Beautiful Spring Flowers - From Your Magnolia Real Estate Professional - 09/27/12 07:48 AM
Spring Flowers From 2010.

Bluebonnets were prolific in the spring of 2010.  The weather conditions were just right for a bumper crop.

Many folks driving around looking for wild flowers stopped at this great field of yellow flowers.

Multicolor display of flowers at Mercer Arboretum.

These yellow flowers (pansies?) look so delicate and fragile.

One of the trails in Mercer Arboretum leads to this great pond with Chinese Tea House.  It is very relaxing and they have several benches around the lake for people to sit and rest.

Here are some of my favorite flower pictures from the Summer and Fall of 2011.

An orchid from a greenhouse at Biltmoore Estate in Ashton North Carolina.  Large purple orchid and small yellow orchid.

Yellow flowers from Mercer Arboretum in Houston, Texas.

Water Lily from Mercer Arboretum in Houston, Texas.  This link to Mercer Arboretum is to my blog in the spring.  It has some Bluebonnets in it -- definitely worth a look.

White daisy from a centerpiece at a wedding in Magnolia Texas the summer of 2011.  Karol Rover's daughter's wedding held in River Park Ranch.

mercer arboretum: The Beauty of Nature -- Flowers & Sunsets From Tomball, Houston and the US. - 10/15/11 05:34 AM
The Beauty of Nature -- Flowers & Sunsets From My Neighborhood & The US.

Cone Flower from Smoky Mountain National Park.

I happened to notice this sunset before I went to see "Contagion"at the movie theater.    With the drought here in Texas it is a rarity to see clouds anymore, but when they are here they create some beautiful sunsets.

Yellow flower.  Probably from Mercer Arboretum.  Here are some more pictures from Mercer Arboretum.

Sunset taken from Louetta near Tomball Parkway. In between Lakewood Forest, Heatherwood Village and Villagio subdivisions.

Flower that looks like a wax … (4 comments)

$$FREE$$ Family Entertainment -- Mercer Arboretum & Botanical Garden
After a showing yesterday I was close to Mercer Arboretum, so I went over for a quick tour.  I stayed close to the front of the facility.

The Herb garden is closer to the visitor's center than it used to be.

Thank you Brandt Petroleum.  The herbs all have signs with the common and scientific name of the plants.

This chili pepper really piqued my interest.  The peppers look like berries and the leaves are almost black in color.

This oregano could season a big pot of spaghetti … (0 comments)

Stunning Flowers From Texas -- From Your Houston Real Estate Professional

After being so dry here in the Houston area, it rained for a full day last week.  This cute little flower popped up on Sunday.  It appears to be symmetrically perfect.

I think this is called a balloon flower.  I took the picture on a weekend that I was taking pictures of trains in Texas.

This little batch of flowers also bloomed after the rain last week.  I believe it is a portulaca.

This lovely wine cup (or primrose)  is traditionally a wild flower seen on the … (2 comments)

mercer arboretum: Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, 5/6/11 Daylilies and Other Flowers - 05/16/11 06:05 AM

These pictures were taken May 6th, 2011 at Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens.

Here are some lovely hydrangeas.  The poms look nearly perfect.

The daylilies have their own section of the Arboretum.

Here is a pretty purple flower, it is a Crinum.

This daylily looks happy with its orange petals and yellow throat.

This yellow asian lily reminds me of a ripe banana with its yellow color and brown speckles.  Its unusual with the curled up petals.

I think I would describe this color as a deep crimson.

Do you know what kind of plant/flower … (2 comments)

mercer arboretum: Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens -- May 2010 - 06/18/10 11:43 AM

Once every three or four months I go to Mercer Arboretum they always have something blooming every month of the year.
This water lily is one of the first things you see after you enter the Arboretum grounds.

This double layered orange flower really caught my eye.

I wish I could grow beautiful deep pink flowers like this.  What a beauty!

One of the improvements at the Arboretum is the lake has been cleaned out, and a new Chinese tea house with benches has been constructed.  They also added a peninsula that extends into the middle of the lake.  The … (5 comments)
