Every visit that I have made to the oncologist, I hole my breath until Dr. Christian tells me I'm cancer free. Liza Loadholt Valero This time it is not me, but my daughter --- Liza -- 43 years old. breast cancer survivors: Are You Wearing Pink - 10/18/09 03:24 PM
In the month of October, Pink should be worn by mean and women alike -- it just shows that you support Breast Cancer Awareness. Some men feel that they are too macho to wear pink -- are you one of those? If so, I don't think you are macho at all -- I think you are a jerk. No, you do not have to have had breast cancer to wear the pink ribbon. It just means that you support those who have and you support breast cancer research. There was an article on Fox News about a bus driver in Illinois

breast cancer survivors: Breast Cancer Survivor 2-1-0 - 10/10/09 11:34 AM
Breast Cancer Survivor 2-1-0 How many breasts does one really need? Do you need 2? Do you need 1? Do you need 0? Ok, some of you may feel that having 2 breasts is essential to your well being. To me, I feel that it depends on your age, how strongly you will feel about this. I understand that a teenager and a young woman feels that having her 2 breasts is very important. Heaven forbid, that this person has to make a decision about whether or not to keep them. I pray for her that she never has to

breast cancer survivors: Breast Cancer Awareness - 10/07/09 01:49 PM
Breast Cancer Awareness This is the month to raise breast cancer awareness ---this month you will see a lot of pink around trying to raise awareness. Cancer is such a horrible thing ---all kinds of cancer. We definitely need to keep getting funds for research to try and find the cure. I will write other posts on breast cancer awareness this month. You, see, I am a breast cancer survivor -- I am one of the lucky ones. Just recently, I have heard of 2 of my friends who were diagnosed with breast cancer - they did not choose

breast cancer survivors: Want to Live? - A Personal Story - 03/08/09 02:48 PM
Want to Live? - Personal Story Personal story for you ladies and men - this story has been told before, but I did not get many comments and it was back in Oct. 2008 when I was brand new to AR. I felt inspired to tell it again after reading Judy Jennings' blog today. I feel that I would like to share with you the details of my cancer scare----so that it may help or save you or one of your loved ones. Although mammograms are very important - critical- they don't always find the "c" --- I

breast cancer survivors: Big Supporter of Mt. Pleasant Community - 03/07/09 01:20 PM
AgentOwned Realty Big Supporter of Mt. Pleasant Community The Mt. Pleasant agent/owners have always been so community oriented. At any suggestions as to a type of support, they are all over it. Red, White & Blue Fridays are big --- we all wear red, white & blue to show our support of our troops who give their lives so that we can have our freedom. Christmas stockings for the troops overseas were prepared by our agent/owners. Habitat for Humanity --- this is a great cause and a couple of years ago, we were able to raise enough money to build

breast cancer survivors: Like Mother Like Daughter - 02/02/09 03:43 PM
Like Mother Like Daughter This is one case where a Mother does not want her Daughter to be like her. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with breast cancer. Today, I am doing terrific---my cancer was caught extremely early and I opted to have a double mastectomy so as to hopefully not have to worry about this "monster" again. A couple of weeks ago, my daughter discovered a "lump" (very small one) in one of her breasts. She had the mammogram and ultra sound and the results were that she needed to have a lumpectomy. She had the surgery this

Personal story for you ladies and men:I feel that I would like to share with you the details of my cancer scare----so that it may help or save you or one of your loved ones. Although mammograms are very important - critical- they don't always find the "c" --- I had a suspicious spot on a mammogram which led to a needle biopsy which lead to a lumpectomy --The result of the lumpectomy was that there was something suspicious on the very edge of what was taken out, so the surgeon wanted to go back and get a larger piece. My Husband,

breast cancer survivors: October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month - 10/02/08 04:34 PM
Most of you probably know that yours truly is a breast cancer survivor. It sounds so weird just to say that ---- somehow, I feel distanced from it. I guess that is really good. Recently, Roper/St Francis Hospital asked if I would be in a campaign of theirs to raise awareness of breast cancer. I was pleased to do anything that I could to definitely raise awareness. Sometimes, I almost feel like it is a virus because I hear of so many women (young, middle aged and older) that have it.The most important thing that you women (or you men make
