 I have to say that writing these various posts about the little communities, sites and delightful scenic stops has made me fall in love with Chilliwack all over again.  This year I didn't go away for a summer vacation.......but I have been checking out the 'green grass' on my side of the fence..........and I have to tell you it is looking pretty green!

chilliwack realtors blog: Canada Set for Third Election in Four Years! - 09/03/08 02:53 PM
Ok.....so after months and months of watching the American primaries and events leading up to their election.....here we go...........jumping on the Election bandwagon.
October  14 appears to be the likely date.  No two year process for us...heck we can rally our troops in less the 6 weeks..........mind boggling no?
Steven Harper  (our Prime Minister - ummm....not President),  who's Conservative party won the election in January of 2006 seems to think an election is the only was to fix what he sees as a dysfunctional Parliament.

This holiday has become such a part of our culture that I'll bet most of us probably don't know it's true purpose and meaning. I'm guessing that for a lot of us its better known as the ‘the last holiday weekend before school starts'.....not that that might not  involve some ‘labour' in itself!   Here in B.C. it's the weekend associated with the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition), or ithe last summer weekend at the cottage.......perhaps for some the last little respite before we're back to work for the rest of the year.  However in essence it IS a holiday that the Labour … (20 comments)

chilliwack realtors blog: The Hope Slide - Canada's Largest Rock Slide, Hope, B.C. - 08/31/08 06:32 PM
The Hope Slide was one of the largest landslides ever recorded in Canada. Early in the dark morning of January 9, 1965, a small snowslide forced four people to stop their vehicles a few miles southeast of the town of Hope, B.C. (two hours east of Vancouver), on a stretch of the Hope-Princeton Highway below Johnson Peak.  As those people contemplated waiting for clearing crews or turning around, a small earthquake below the mountain triggered the main slide, which obliterated the mountain's southwestern slope.

On Tuesday, my daughter Rachel and I went back to my Alma Mater, Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C.  Rachel had just made the decision that that was her first choice for College next year, so we packed a lunch and went to explore!
