She didn't want to go - but I managed to drag my daughter Rachel on a 90 minute train ride (each way) to Coney Island - and it was fabulous! I have to admit - stop after stop after stop I was starting to worry and hoped there would be something cool awaitin us and we weren't disappointed.
Coney Island became a resort after the Civil War and when the steam trains connected Brooklyn to Manhatten via the Brooklyn Bridge at the beginning of the 20th century, Coney Island went from being a resort to a great day-tripping destination.

new york: Coal Fire Oven Baked Pizza at Grimaldi's of New York - 09/20/10 04:38 PM
Is any trip to New York complete without having pizza at Grimaldi's? Certainly no walk across Brooklyn Bridge should end without one of those delicious slices!
As anyone who knows me will tell you I'm not big on waiting in lines.....and the thought of waiting 1.5 hrs in line for pizza would have been ridiculous to me - except my daughter Rachel said it was without a doubt worth the wait and besides she came along for the ride to Coney Island when she really didn't want to :)

While visiting New York a couple of weeks ago - a visit to Ground Zero was a must - so close to the anniversary too - the memory of it will be ingrained in us forever - very moving...

new york: Trip of a Lifetime - My Bucket List Vacation! - 09/10/10 11:00 PM
Well, I just got back from my Bucket List Vacation - and it really was a trip of a lifetime! Some of you know that I've always wanted to go to New York......Is there anyone on this planet that has never wanted to go to NYC??? Oh I suppose there is - but I can't imagine!
