Several years ago an amazing transformation of the former CFB  military base started taking place turning this community into the vibrant 153-acre residential community of Garrison Crossing.  This has been part of a multi-year community redevelopment plan, with the goal of building a walkable community that compliments the charm and the ambience of the former base.  With its narrow, winding roads and majestic trees, when complete, Garrison Crossing will feature 1,800 homes encompassing both new homes and restored military homes.

sardis: Justice Institute of B.C., Chilliwack, Starts New Sto:lo Program - 08/05/08 03:26 AM
The Sto:lo Nation entered into a community partnership with the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), B.C. in launching the Justice and Public Safety Certificate \Program for aboriginal students at a Sto:lo naming ceremony held Friday.
The program will be honoured with the Sto:lo name Iwestux Temxshxweli, which means "teachers' sacred place," and represents the unique bond between teachers and learners.
                                           
The program is designed to help aboriginal students be more competitive in securing careers in policing, correctional services, emergency medical services, firefighting, sheriff services, fish and wildlife protection, border services and other justice and public safety professions.

sardis: Canada Education Park - Chilliwack, B.C. (Former Location of CFB Chilliwack) - 08/05/08 02:19 AM
How times they are a changing!  I recently posted a blog giving an overview of the history of Garrison and Vedder Crossing Crossing and and the former location of the Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack.
One of the areas that has been newly developed on the Former CFB grounds is the Canada Education Park. Who would have thought ALL those years ago how much this area was going to be transformed!  And since its happening practically outside my front door Ihave a birdseye view!

sardis: Remembering CFB (Chilliwack Forces Base) Chilliwack - 08/05/08 12:26 AM
Some of you who are new to Chilliwack have perhaps heard people refer to  Garrison Crossing as the Former CFB (Canadian Forces Base), and maybe you've been  wondering a little about  its history.    Chilliwack's Military presence goes way back...& The Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack especially,  is woven into the history of our community and an interesting history it is!
