See-forever views of mountain, ocean and city make this a digital-snapshot mecca! But that's just the staring point for 1,423 acres of carefully conserved west-coast nature comprised mainly of forested slopes radiating down from the mountaintop Simon Fraser University.

First logged in 1903, Burnaby Mountain became a popular hiking area in the 1920s. The city dedicated the area for park and recreation use in 1957. Simon Fraser University opened its doors in the mid-1960s; the university transferred 820 acres of its land to Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area in 1995.

On Tuesday, my daughter Rachel and I went back to my Alma Mater, Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C. Rachel had just made the decision that that was her first choice for College next year, so we packed a lunch and went to explore!
It was my first time back after I'd graduated 27 year ago, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science... 27 years ago I had plans of being a lawyer...........I specialized in International Relations and Comparative Studies for Soviet and Eastern European Politics........In those days Simon Fraser was a hotbed of political activity and such an … (17 comments)
