On January 29, 2008, Florida Voters will vote on a Proposed Constitutional Amendment altering the 1992 Save Our Homes Amendment. It is important to read all of the details in order to make a sound voting decision. Did you know that there are two phases the tax reform? Phase 1: Statutory millage rollback and local government revenue cap. A millage rate (also known as the tax rate) is a figure applied to the just property value to calculate your property tax liability. School Grades Report as published by the "New Sun" for Highlands County. It appears that our elementary and junior high schools are on the mark. High schools need to buckle down. Overall the grades are not terrible and demonstrate some improvement for the middle schools! This is good information for any families who want to relocate to the area. Be aware of property location and corresponding school district. You may find an address index and respect school district at http://www.highlands.k12.fl.us/streets.pdf!
