Daily Words of Wisdom- from Chocolate - 09/28/08 06:26 PM
Probably all of us chocolate lovers know that Dove chocolates are supposed to have the highest amount of antioxidants in their dark chocolate pieces of all the brands, so we can justify having a piece or two a day. It's supposed to lower blood pressure, help heart disease, and cure anything else you can think of or want to make an excuse for eating it. Web MD Do you read the little "inspirations" printed inside the wrapper of each piece? Sure, why not, anybody who makes chocolate can't be all bad and must be wise in some ways. It's Not Just the Places you Go but the People You Meet - 09/28/08 09:30 AM
It's not always the places you go but the people you meet that make a vacation memorable. Just found out about the newest group- Vacations on Active Rain and have a short story to add about our latest vacation to Calaveras County California. We were there in June 2008 at the time the latest wildfires in California were breaking out. We drove to the town of Sutter, CA to visit Sutter's Ridge winery. It was already mid afternoon when we left Calaveras, and the drive was longer than we thought. The fires west of the area were causing a lot of pollution. (2 comments)

ABC's of Fine Wine in Apex, NC - Local Wine Tasting Event - 09/07/08 02:50 PM
We recently received a postcard in the mail for the grand opening of a new wine store in Apex, The Apex Beverage Company. Yes, direct mail postcards apparently do work! Having recently been to the central California area of wine country, my husband and I thought we'd stop in and check out a wine tasting in our own town this weekend. Although the Apex Beverage Company has been open since July, they held off on holding the grand opening tasting weekend until they felt ready. My opinion..... they were ready! The owners, Jake & Eric, were both very knowledgeable and friendly. Eric poured us (0 comments)

Brighton Forest- New Custom Homes in Fuquay Varina North Carolina - 09/01/08 11:59 AM
I recently received a full page color flyer with our Saturday News & Observer advertising Brighotn Forest, a new home community in the Fuquay Varina Apex area of North Carolina. Having buyers coming in from out of town in this price range, of course I had to go and preview the homes. The homes were lovely, as was the community. The stone and wood fence entrance was beautiful. A nicely landscaped and wooded street led to the beautiful pool area and clubhouse. What a nice surprise to see many families swimmimg and enjoying the pool, even on a Monday.
Bats in the Belfry- Not on my Balcony! - 09/01/08 09:28 AM
Unusual Home Maintainance tip of the Month- #1 For the past seven years since we've lived in our house in Apex, NC, we've loved spending evenings on our second floor balcony. The balcony is one of my favorite features of the house and the reason I fell in love with it when we bought it. However, every summer in the late evening, just as darkness is settling in, we've had a bat resting up in the top corner, on the ledge of the trim. Needless to say, as soon as we could see the bats flying around, I was so out (6 comments)
