Living in the Raleigh North Carolina area, we're lucky enough to be within 2 hours of the North Carolina coast and beaches, or a few hours drive to the mountains and the gorgeous city of Asheville, North Carolina.
Probably best known for the "Biltmore" mansion and it's wineries, Asheville also has an active art and music community.
My family is lucky enough to have friends that live close to Asheville so we are able to visit this area fairly often. There's always something new to do or someplace to explore.
Last weekend Asheville was holding it's annual Bele Chere street festival. Many streets were blocked off to make way for all the craft … (3 comments)

How much home can I get in Apex North Carolina for My Money?
Even with the economy still struggling to climb out of the hole and real estate still waiting to see where the bottom is in some parts of the country, here in Apex North Carolina homes are still selling well.
Last week Apex made one of the famous Forbes lists of best places to live- rising all the way to NUMBER 3 this year in the country for towns over 25,000 in population.

I love beaches, and have been to every one listed here. So I was amazed, surprised, and delighted when I found this beach at Talkeetna, Alaska, at the merge of three rivers. Gorgeous day, gorgeous place. Wonderful memories.

So there we were, a group of five or six wayward tourists waiting for the bus back to McKinley from the quaint little town of Talkeetna, Alaska. 
Sitting on some benches under a wood shelter on a dusty parking lot, bordered by rocks, one of the older gentleman notices this rock and just matter of factly says " this rock looks like a butt"!  Well, everyone was roaring. It was the ultimate ice breaker! 
My husband couldn't believe I went over and took a picture of it! Not all vacation pictures … (14 comments)
