apex: Ranch Homes in Cary Apex Raleigh North Carolina - 06/06/14 02:20 AM
More and more people are calling me lately looking for a ranch or single style home in the Cary and Apex area.  Trouble is, they can be hard to find in our area.  I've done a recent search direct from the MLS and found 73 Homes!  They range in price from $93,000 to $895,000!
As you can see, they vary greatly in the age of the home and amenities offered.

apex: ICY Apex, North Carolina? Ponds frozen? How North are we? - 01/18/11 01:53 AM
Does this winter weather seem extreme in all parts of the country lately? From floods and rain in the West to Christmas blizzards in New York City to ice storms in the South, we're seeing it all this year.
Sunday was finally a nice day here in the Peak of Good Living of Apex North Carolina, so we took the opportunity to take a family walk with the dog to our favorite neighborhood park- Crowder Park off TenTen Rd.

Lo and behold, there was ice on the pond!! 5 days after our big ice storm, parts of the pond … (3 comments)

apex: North Carolina and the Dreaded "Wintry Mix" - 12/16/10 05:08 AM
Well, here we are again in the frozen tundra of Apex North Carolina!  Many of us former Northerners have been complaining all week about the cold weather that we thought we had escaped.

For the last few days the "weather people" have been predicting a "wintry mix" for today. Meaning it could snow, sleet, rain, or hail. They've covered all the bases by calling it a wintry mix.
As usual, whenever something like this is predicted, everyone runs to the store to stock up on milk, bread, and eggs, like we're not going to see civilization again for months.

apex: Lunch with the Ambassador (of Apex North Carolina) - 05/31/10 07:16 AM
Lunch with the Ambassador (of Apex North Carolina!) Even though for many people today is a day of relaxation, as a Real Estate agent, I took it as an extra opportunity during the week to show houses to a prospective homeowner.

Today, after my client and I had looked at several houses in Apex, we decided to stop for lunch in "downtown Apex."
Of the many excellent restaurants on Salem Street, we opted for Anna's Pizzeria. Their lunch special is always awesome!

As we arrived right at 11;00 before the lunch crowd really filled the … (12 comments)

apex: Luxury Living in the Raleigh Cary Apex North Carolina Area - 05/17/10 01:20 PM
Luxury Living in the Raleigh Cary Apex North Carolina Area  Here in the Wake County area of North Carolina we have a good share of homes defined as "Luxury Living".  In our area luxury homes are defined as homes priced over $500,000.
But how are the luxury homes selling right now? Well, let's put it this way, it's a great time to be a buyer! While the market has less homes for sale than the 1st quarter of 2009, there is still a 28 month supply of homes over $500,000 for sale in the Triangle area.
The Good News- showings increased from … (3 comments)

apex: Apex neighborhood holds it's annual yard sale- Holly Brook, Apex, North Carolina - 04/23/10 03:24 AM
It's spring and everyone is out enjoying our fabulous weather.  Of course it's the time of year that people like to house clean and see if they can make a few dollars from something they no longer need.

And with this being Earth Day Week, what better way to recycle then to keep things out of the land fill and let someone else use them?

The friendly community of Holly Brook, right off of Kildaire Farm Rd, near the intersection of TenTen, is holding their annual neighborhood yard sale this Saturday, April 24.

apex: Wordless Wednesday- Same scene, diffferent season, Apex North Carolina - 04/07/10 11:29 AM
Seems like just yesterday I took a picture of a red horse barn in the snow off Lawdraker Rd in Apex North Carolina and posted it here. That picture ended up winning first prize in the local Realtor's Association contest.
Here it is now early April, unseasonable hot in the low 90's,  and not only are the grasses and flowers blooming, but the yellow pine pollen is coating the whole are like a blanket of yellow snow.
I thought it would be interesting to take the same picture of the barn on Lawdraker Rd in Apex in Spring, so here it is:

apex: Crowder Park In Apex North Carolina - A great area to live in! - 04/04/10 02:03 AM
The community surrounding Crowder Park in Apex North Carolina loves it's park, especially in Spring. There's nothing like one of the first warm days of spring, especially when the children are off of school, to bring families out to Crowder Park.
With the trees in early bloom and the azaleas just starting to produce some color, Crowder Park in Apex North Carolina was brimming with activity this week.
Located at 4709 TenTen Rd, near the intersection of Holly Springs Rd, Crowder Park was opened in 1998 with land donated by Mrs. Doris Crowder and funds from Wake County.

Are you a nature buff? Crowder … (0 comments)

apex: Silent Sunday- Deer Whispering in Apex North Carolina - 02/28/10 07:11 AM
The deer sightings have been few and far between this winter.  I had seen 2 dead deer lying by the side of the road near us, and was afraid they were from our "deer family of 4" that hung around our neighborhood the last 2 years.
How happy was I to look out my back window to see not just 4, but 5 deer lying close to my yard. Using my best "deer whisperer" voice, I tried to get them to let me take a picture.  Finally got 4 of them to stand still long enough for me to get one … (9 comments)

apex: Power of Positive Thinking- Spring has Sprung! - 02/24/10 03:19 AM
Okay, well maybe Spring was going to get here eventually anyway, but with just a few days of warm sunny weather here in Apex North Carolina, it seems like everyone is in a more positive frame of mind.
More people are out walking their dogs in Crowder Park, and more people are thinking of buying or selling their home.
I was at one of my listings yesterday restocking the flyer box and saw the first sign of spring.

Yes,the tulips were starting to come up!! Just noticing the plants coming up made my client and I smile, therefore we had to … (9 comments)

apex: Young People Doing Good Deeds - in Apex North Carolina - 02/08/10 09:39 AM
Don't you hate it when you hear old curmudgeons complaining about "Kids these days". They go on and on how as children they were so wonderful, hard working, polite, etc.  "Kids nowadays can never measure up." Of course, just as with all news, the only young people we hear about on the news are the ones that commit crimes or get in trouble.
Well, here's a story of an exemplary young woman who is just one of many "good kids" in Apex who is giving up her time to raise money for the local Red Cross.
As I wrote last week … (5 comments)

apex: Southern Snow- an unusual Silent Sunday here in North Carolina - 01/31/10 07:43 AM
It was so quiet out, barely even the sound of snow crunching under my feet,  when I went out this morning to take pictures of the snow. It's a fairly rare occurrence here in Apex North Carolina to have measurable snow. We didn't have any snow last year.
To all you people up North and in Colorado (Mary!),  you can laugh at us because this few inches of snow grinds the area to a hault. BUT, school has already been cancelled for tomorrow and businesses are closed.  Yep, we just wait until it melts and hibernate.  Ahh, sleeping in late, reading a good book, and … (5 comments)

apex: Come in from the Cold, this is Winter in North Carolina - 01/25/10 08:28 AM
The 4 Seasons of North Carolina After a couple of weeks of unusually cold weather throughout the country, and in the South particularly, we here in Apex, North Carolina, had a few days of warm rain last week.
And then, finally on Saturday,  it was sunny, warm, and bright! You'd think we Southerner's had been trapped in the house for months.  People were out with their kids, dogs, friends, and lovers, walking through the trails at the park and sitting on the benches enjoying the day.
Yes, we do have winter in North Carolina. However, it's not the frigid cold, deep snow, … (4 comments)

apex: Silent Sunday- Apex or Giverny? - 01/24/10 05:37 AM
Crowder Park was filled with people enjoying the first sunny day in a week yesterday,  as were the ducks. Because of all the recent rain, the pond was muddy, causing the reflections and the ripples to give a impressionistic, look, almost as those Monet could have painted it.

apex: Sellers don't see Clutter, but buyer's do. - 01/20/10 10:01 AM
Sellers don't see Clutter, but buyer's do!
Okay, so you decide you want/ need/ have to/ sell your home.  You've watched enough HGTV and read enough to know that you need to declutter your home.  However, looking around your house, you really don't see that much clutter.
All those pictures of your kids, parents, and family pets are what add to the charm of your home, right?
You'll take care of those stacks of bills and coupons when a buyer calls that they want to see the house.
Everyone expects to see a little laundry on the floors, don't they?
Well, … (7 comments)

apex: Silent Sunday- looking for a rainbow - 01/17/10 09:54 AM
Sunday in Apex, North Carolina
Playing with my new camera that I bought yesterday, and trying out the things I'm learning in my photography class, I was hoping for a nice day to take some nature pictures. Alas, it rained on & off all day, but at least it's warm.
And after the storm, there's the silence. We often have rainbows, although not today. We were treated instead to the beauty of this unusual yellow sky.

apex: Starting the New Year with a "Marathon"- 26.2 Laps at the Apex YMCA - 01/06/10 01:55 AM
This year the Kraft Family YMCA in the Apex/ Holly Springs area of North Carolina held what is hoped to be an annual New Year's Day "Resolution Run".

Just as the wonderful staff at the YMCA had arranged last year, members had a month to sign up and get in condition to either run or walk on the indoor track on New Year's Day.  Eight times around the track is a mile, and 26.2 times is equal to a 5k.  They goal was to finish in less than 45 minutes.
So on a cold grey January 1, 2010, runner's assembled inside, were given … (3 comments)

apex: The Mountains meet the Peak of Good Living- More news from Apex North Carolina - 12/23/09 03:49 AM
With all the new commerce going on in historic Downtown Apex lately, it seems like people from all over have heard that Apex is the place to be.
I spent some time "downtown" last week and stopped into the newest store- Tobacco Road Outdoors.

Tobacco Road Outdoors  is owned and managed by Larry & Brad Hipps, a father- son duo who recently moved to Apex from the mountain area of North Carolina, near Asheville.
Both are avid outdoor enthusiasts as is evident by the knowledge they have about their products.
The store is located right at the foot of the intersection … (3 comments)
